Hidden hiking gem in Chongqing's urban area | Forest streams and lawns
Forests, plank roads, lawns, streams, riversides...
A treasure hiking route right in Chongqing's urban area
No need to travel far to get in touch with nature
Great for friends or family outings, outdoor hiking, and parent-child walks
Address: Jiuqu River Wetland Park, Yubei District (free)
Navigation: Walk 200m to the west gate from 'Jiuqu River Station' on Light Rail Line 6
Despite being in the city center, it's not crowded, and the area is quite pristine
The park is large, built along the Jiuqu River, with paths that are both forest-like and Japanese-style, dense water cedars, and winding roads. The deeper you go, the more serene it becomes, with walkways built along the river, making for an easy stroll. Along the way, you'll pass an ancient stone bridge with babbling water underneath, offering a particularly pleasant experience
At the top of the western area of the park, there's a large lawn where you can see the Jialing River and trains in the distance. If you catch the sunset, it feels a bit like something out of a Hayao Miyazaki manga
My single-line hiking route
Jiuqu River Wetland Park (South Gate 2) - turn left after entering (the winding road and straight trees on both sides are great for photos) - Diepu Mountain Pond (a small waterfall and pond) - Fuye Bridge (a very atmospheric stone arch bridge, see picture 1) - Waterside Plank Road (surrounded by dense water cedars, especially beautiful from an aerial view, with a strong autumn vibe) - Jiuqu Zhe Bridge - West Area Mountain Top Lawn (where you can see train tracks not far away)
The whole journey takes about 3-4 hours, with plenty of time to play and explore. It's very suitable for a half-day trip, with many plank roads along the way, making it great for beginners in outdoor hiking.

⛰【Travel Tips】
In April in Chongqing, you must visit Jiuqu River Wetland Park, where you can find hillsides covered with blooming evening primroses, creating a scene straight out of a Hayao Miyazaki manga, simply stunning. There are streams, ancient bridges, large lawns, tracks, sunsets, railways, rivers, distant mountains, and more, a true natural oxygen bar. Plus, it's currently the blooming season, making it a perfect spot for weekend family outings and fairy-like photo shoots💯, catering to all sorts of styles.

📌Little Tips:
👗Dressing: For photos, you can wear flowing dresses in light pink, white, or yellow, very refreshing!
Accessories like straw hats, umbrellas, balloons, books, and other props can add to the atmosphere when taking photos📷.
📷The weather in Chongqing is quite hot during the day, so for those who are sun-sensitive, it's recommended to take photos at 8-9 am or 4-5 pm for softer sunlight.
There are many mosquitoes in the park, so bring mosquito repellent~

Chongqing Jiuqu River Wetland Park: Let's wait for the sunset together and take some epic shots!
This place is very photogenic, not overcrowded, and simply your home turf. There were even two couples taking wedding photos at the time, against the backdrop of the setting sun, which was incredibly beautiful. It's best to go with a few friends, because in such a photogenic place, you never know who might capture you in their lens, or who might take an absolutely stunning photo of you. I took photos for the three companions who were with me, and they couldn't stop praising them. They all shared them on social media and some even used them as their WeChat wallpaper, which really felt like an accomplishment. Here, you can also see the high-speed trains passing by
Did you know, Jiuqu River Wetland Park is truly an underrated treasure! After renovations, the beauty of this place is simply breathtaking. Stepping into the park, you'll find it's much larger than you imagined, cleverly divided into the East and West zones. With little bridges over flowing water, a forest of dawn redwoods, and that refreshing riverside lawn, every spot seems like a masterpiece of nature.
Here, you can gaze at the high-speed trains zooming by, feeling the perfect combination of speed and tranquility. Enjoy the river view and bask in the sunshine on the spacious lawn, or even admire the enchanting sunset. The Lijia Trail that crosses the park is simply the perfect choice for a leisurely weekend stroll or a morning run. Every step is solid and comfortable, as if you're one with nature.
The park is super accessible, with multiple entrances to choose from (we navigated to Baihua Mountain Temple Stele Pavilion), and you can choose how you want to explore based on your preferences. Plus, the park hides several photogenic spots, which I will reveal to you one by one later. Whether you're a photography enthusiast or a casual visitor, this place will satisfy your pursuit of beauty.
Want to know where this hidden gem is? It's conveniently located near the Jiuqu River Station on the Line 6 metro. If you're looking for a great weekend destination or a place for a family outing, this is definitely a good choice.
Tips for visiting:
1. The park is divided into East and West zones, with the metro station as the boundary. Exit 2 leads to the East zone, and Exit 1 to the West zone. Attractions like Fuye Bridge and the dawn redwood forest are in the East zone, while the refreshing riverside lawn awaits you in the West zone for exploration.
2. Enter through the South 3 gate, turn left to enjoy the waterside boardwalk, the cascading mountain pond, and other natural scenery; turn right for an area rich in educational elements, including fish, birds, plant science parks, etc., which are great for visiting with children.
3. Walk up the road from the entrance of the West zone, and in less than 10 minutes, you'll reach the riverside lawn. The view here is expansive, making it an excellent spot for photography.
4. Although cycling is not allowed in the park, the trails and forest paths are perfect for a leisurely walk or a run. The stone bridges and boardwalks along the way add even more charm.
📷🌸 Photography Strategy:
The riverside lawn is absolutely a paradise for photography enthusiasts! With the river view and the bridge on one side, and the high-speed trains on the other, plus the slope design of the lawn, it's easy to capture that cinematic feel. If you have a telephoto lens, shooting the high-speed trains becomes even more effortless. On a clear day, walk to the bottom of the lawn and shoot upwards to capture the perfect blend of sky and grass.
