There are the ancient five-story pagodas in Kanto, the statue of Nichiren, and many other buildings have their own characteristics. In addition to the temple itself, there are also many plants in Honmon Temple. In April, you can enjoy cherry blossoms. The cherry blossoms bloom like pink clouds, which is very beautiful. 📍Ikegami Honmon-ji temple (池上本門寺) in Ota-ku, Tokyo
This 750 years old temple has large grounds with many beautiful cherry blossom trees. I was lucky to visit the temple when the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. I didn’t expect it to be this beautiful and was very surprised when i arrived at the road leads to the five stories pagoda of the temple because it was very beautiful.
People from the neighborhood come here to pray, to run up the stairs leading to the temple or to walk their dog. I felt like it was not olny a temple but a welcome place for all the people living nearby.
It rained all day that day until i came to the temple so the light was not that good to take photos and videos. Hopefully it’ll be sunny next time when i visit Ikegami Honmon-ji temple ✨🌸

Tokyo🇯🇵 Honmonji Temple
Before Nichiren Shonin passed away in October 1282, he built Honmonji Temple at the request of Ikegami Sounaka (one of the official designated sites (mountain names) was Choei-san, meaning "mountain of long-term prosperity"). Ikegami Munenaka was a wealthy lord and loyal believer at the time. Chihshang Zongzhong provided 69,384 pings (51.89 acres) of land. This number echoes the number of Chinese characters in the Lotus Sutra.
On April 15, 1945, the temple was subjected to intensive bombing, resulting in the destruction of all buildings, leaving only the gate, a five-story pagoda, the Jingzo (Buddhist scripture storage room) and the Duobao Pagoda (stupa). Through donations from believers across the country, the temple has now been rebuilt. #2024TravelReview
