Guia Lighthouse
#macaulifestyle #mytripvlog #macautravel #macautrip Guia Lighthouse is a 17th-century colonial military fort, chapel, and lighthouse complex in São Lázaro, Macau. The complex is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Historic Centre of Macau. it’s blocked by the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region since 2010. Local citizens and scholars criticised that such a case proved that the Macao government had ignored the conservation of heritage in urban planning.

Enjoy a peaceful trip to Matsuyama
Mount Pine, also known as Mount Tai Wan, is the highest peak on the Macau Peninsula, so it is used for military defense. Take the cable car up Matsuyama at Erlongmao Park, then walk the Morning Trail for a while to reach Matsuyama Military Range. The old Australian-Portuguese government built a large number of military defense systems, including lighthouses, air-raid shelters, fortresses, garrison barracks and fortresses.
The first thing you will see on Matsuyama is a fortress, and next to it is the tunnel entrance, which is well worth a visit with pictures and texts introducing the history of the tunnel.

Guia Hill Municipal Park is located on Guia Hill, the highest hill in Macao Peninsula, and the surrounding environment and facilities of the hill have been taken into the overall design and layout to create a multipurpose park. It offers visitors the most panoramic and scenic view of the city’s urban districts and outlying islands.

been a recent travel objective of mine. I really like this one not only for the historical aesthetic it brings to Macau, but also for a relaxing (maybe contented) feeling I got today from just sitting and looking at it. It wasn’t easy too because some young people - I mean like people in 30’s - were doing a major selfie thing all around it, acting foolish, or really maybe just having a good time. It seemed like for an hour or so too. Wish I was them. You know, I don’t really want people I don’t know in the pictures I take - know what I mean Sĩ - so I waited them out. And I still felt good coming here despite them, and ultimately I did take my pics. Hey that’s a really old church next to it; I guess you can see that yourself from the cross. They won’t let you take pictures inside, but you can see some really old drawings on the walls that are almost faded out.

Macau Little White House~Guia Lighthouse
Blue sky and white clouds, plus white lighthouse, there is a kind of being in a pseudo-Greek little white house😂 However it is quite beautiful~~
Although it takes a while to walk up to the Eastern View Lanterns, it is a sight worth visiting if the weather is good!
If the cable car is not out of service, you can go a short distance, however when you take the cable car you will find that.
I'm riding the world's shortest cable car 🚡😂

Macau Guia Lighthouse🕍
A lighthouse located at the top of Mount Towang in Macau, part of the city is listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site. It takes about thirty minutes to walk up to the top of the mountain from the road. Along the way, you can see some exhibitions about astronomy, and also feel the rich religious architecture. #OverseasTravel #Sights Photography Guide

Here are some photo tips! From Guia Fortress, you can capture Grand Lisboa and Macao Tower. When I talked about Macau, many people will think of the Big Three Bars for the first time. This has become an attraction for people to go to Macau to play. It is almost impossible to take a big three-bar with no one. Either get up early, shoot late, or just look for angles to avoid crowds.
Of course, in the historic city of Macau, every church is overcrowded. Its better to find someone elses place to be less beautiful than to crowd people.
On the top of the Guia Ocean in Macau, you can overlook the entire Macau Peninsula. There is also the Guia Lighthouse, which is accompanied by the Church of the Virgin of the Snow and the Guia Fortress. The 360-degree open view, how to shoot at random, will not worry about the intrusion of others.
Tickets: Free
Opening hours: 9:00-17:30,
The Guia Lighthouse is not open to the public on weekdays. The annual port authority will be open on May 20th. The public is open.
Transportation:
1 Walking: Go up the road from the entrance of Eryiyan Park, take the Guia Lighthouse
2 cable car in about 20 minutes, take the cable car uphill to the Erlongyan Park

Fortaleza da Guia (Guia Fortress): A Step Back in Time
#getgoing2025
Visiting Fortaleza da Guia was like stepping into a piece of Macau’s military history. Perched atop a hill, the fortress offered stunning views of the city and the sea. Inside, I explored old cannons, a chapel, and fascinating exhibits that told the story of the fortress’ role in protecting Macau. The sense of history here was palpable, making it an enriching experience for anyone interested in the city’s past.

Guia Fortress and Lighthouse
✅ The fortress was built in 1622 and named after Guia Hill, the highest point on the Macau Peninsula. It was a military stronghold for a long time, with a watchtower, ammunition depot, and tower. It became a tourist attraction after the Portuguese army withdrew from Macau in 1976.
✔️ The lighthouse was built in 1865 and is the first modern lighthouse in the Far East. It was damaged by a storm in 1874 and was repaired and reopened on June 29, 1910.
🌈 This is the highest point on the Macau Peninsula, offering a spectacular view of the city.

The Lights on the Mountain Peak, Guardians of Intertwined Time
Climbing up the winding path, the gentle breeze of Guia Hill caresses my face, as if leading me into a distant history. The Guia Fortress and Lighthouse stand silently at the mountain peak, quietly watching over the vicissitudes and prosperity of this land.
The stone walls of the fortress are full of traces of time, and the rough texture under my fingertips seems to touch the scenes of past battles. The white tower of the lighthouse stands out against the blue sky, being the oldest existing Western-style lighthouse in China, witnessing countless safe returns from perilous voyages. Standing next to the lighthouse, the view of Macau unfolds before my eyes, where the modernity of the city intertwines with the vastness of the sea, evoking deep emotions.
As dusk falls, the light of the lighthouse serves as a historical footnote, bringing hope to those sailing afar. At this moment, I feel like a guardian too, gazing into the future with this ancient mountain peak, protecting the tranquility and resilience in my heart.

Save this list! 9 must-visit attractions in Macau.
Every place in Macau has its own unique charm!
9 places in Macau that I like and are worth visiting √
🌼 Ruins of St. Paul's
One of the eight scenic spots in Macau, a super classic landmark. If you want to take beautiful photos, go to these four places: Love Lane, Rua de S. Paulo, Mount Fortress Park, and the Uniqlo opposite the Ruins of St. Paul's 📸
🌼 Rua de S. Domingos
This street is really great for shopping, no wonder it's a street for trendy brands. The Portuguese Bookstore and St. Dominic's Church are nearby 🛍️
🌼 Guia Lighthouse
The best place to watch the sunset in Macau. It's recommended to arrive 1 hour before sunset and stay until it gets dark. You can enjoy the bustling night view 🌃
🌼 Rua do Almirante Sérgio
Backed by the sea with the Macau Tower as the background, the pink houses on the roadside take you into a dopamine world. Walk a few hundred meters to the top of the hill to the Chapel of Our Lady of Penha, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of Macau 👀
🌼 Rua de Cinco de Outubro
The street and the surrounding streets form a small colorful fairy tale world. Avoid the crowds and wander through these streets, it's not only comfortable but also great for taking photos 🚶🏻♀️
🌼 The Parisian Garden
Go through the side door of the Sheraton and you'll arrive at a smaller version of the Place de la Concorde. It's quite lazy to sunbathe on the lawn. You can take panoramic photos of the Parisian and the Eiffel Tower. The left side is also nice 🚀
🌼 The Londoner
Coming here really feels like a second dream back to Europe. The outdoor terrace connected to the bridge to the Shoppes at Four Seasons is a classic photo spot 😍
🌼 Jardim de Lou Lim Ioc
Baroque green "maze", exquisite dome-style buildings, European-style stone pillar corridors, and fountains. Being here feels like being a medieval noblewoman, gorgeous and retro, really beautiful 🌲
🌼 Cheoc Van Beach
You can also see the sea in Macau. Compared to Hac Sa Beach, this place is more niche and local. It's a great place to escape the crowds and relax 🏖️
✨ The ranking is in no particular order. All 9 places are worth visiting. I look forward to discovering more fun and beautiful places.

Guia Fortress
There is a small hill on the east side of the Macau Peninsula called Guia Hill. The peak is the highest point on the peninsula, and you can look east to the Pearl River Estuary. In 1622, the Portuguese built a fort here called Guia Fort, installed a cannon, and guarded the ships entering and leaving the outer port of Macau. They also built a small church next to it, dedicated to the "Our Lady of the Snow." The lighthouse above was not completed until 1865 and was the first modern lighthouse in the Far East. It is 15 meters high, with a tower diameter of 7 meters at the bottom and 5 meters at the top. It has three floors, and the top floor is a searchlight and observation deck, which can guide ships 20 kilometers away. During the typhoon season, it can also hang iron fences of different shapes to tell everyone the level of the typhoon.
A beautiful lighthouse also bears witness to the historical changes of the past century and a half.

It's more fun to explore in Macau.

Guia Lighthouse.
The highest point of Guia Hill Municipal Park is Guia Lighthouse, which was built in 1865. It is the first modern lighthouse in Macau, China, and even the entire Far East, and still plays a role in navigation today. Guia Lighthouse is not open to the public on weekdays, and can only be visited outside the tower. Only on a few open days can you visit the inside of the tower.
Guia Lighthouse is also one of the best places to view the whole of Macau. Looking far away, you can see the scenery of the Macau Peninsula, and the iconic buildings such as the Macau Tower and the Grand Lisboa are all in sight, and the flag of the Macau SAR government is also close at hand.
Next to the lighthouse are Guia Fortress and the Chapel of Our Lady of the Snow, two historical buildings. The Chapel of Our Lady of the Snow is the oldest existing Christian church in Macau and the entire China, and Guia Fortress is a building of great cultural relic value and historical value.
If you like to climb high and look into the distance, and also like to explore history, then this is definitely your best choice for traveling in Macau.

Where to watch the Macau Sunset!!!
The Guia Lighthouse in Macau is indeed the best spot for panoramic views of the city. From the lighthouse, located on Guia Hill, you can enjoy a sweeping vista of Macau's skyline, the Pearl River Delta, and the South China Sea. The elevated position offers a unique perspective of both the modern cityscape and historical sites. The surrounding Guia Fortress and Guia Chapel also add to the scenic and historical value of the visit. If you're looking for a blend of natural beauty and historical ambiance, the Guia Lighthouse is a top choice.
Come during sunset to see the colours of the sky changing against the Grand Lisboa.

Iconic Lighthouse
#familytrips2024
This iconic lighthouse is situated in a 17th century fort but was actually built in 1865. It's one of the first western built lighthouses in Asia. It is one of the UNESCO World Heritage attractions and a common image scene of Macau seen in guidebooks.
It took about 45 mins - 1 hour to reach this lighthouse from ground level. Its quite a hike, depending on your pace.
Beautiful views from the lighthouse as you can see the whole of Macao! Highly recommended!
Inside the building gives information on Typhoons that have impacted Macau.
Our dream destination for our family trip is China as it's rich history, diverse culture, stunning landscapes, and delicious cuisine make it a captivating place to visit.

Built betw
Built between 1622 and 1638, this fortress was, together with Mount Fortress, invaluable in fending off the attempted Dutch invasion of 1622. Inside the fortress stands Guia Chapel, built around 1622, and Guia Lighthouse, dating from 1865, the first modern lighthouse on the Chinese coast. Macao takes its co-ordinates from the exact location of the lighthouse. Guia Chapel was originally established by Clarist nuns, who resided at the site before establishing the Convent of St. Clare. In 1998 frescoes were uncovered inside Guia Chapel during routine conservation work. The chapel’s elaborate frescoes depict representations of both western and Chinese themes, displaying motifs of religious and mythological inspiration that are a perfect example of Macao’s multicultural dimension. Guia Fortress, along with the chapel and lighthouse are symbols of Macao’s maritime, military and missionary past.
Guia Fortress has a trapezoidal plan covering an area of around 800 square metres. The lighthouse located within it, is a 15-metre-high tower with a diameter of 7 metres at the base narrowing upwards to 5 metres. At the top, there is a circular observation platform, where the lantern is installed. The light transmitter is accessed by a spiral flight of stairs inside. The tower has a simple rustic exterior, in keeping with Guia Chapel lying adjacent. The church has a simple façade, with a triangular pediment on pilasters finished in yellow rendering that contrasts with the unadorned white building. The chapel nave measures 16 by 4.7 metres, with thick bearing walls supporting the interior vaulting, further strengthened by buttresses running along the perimeter of the building. Inside, the sacristy is located on the left of the chancel and a small choir is located over the entrance. The roof is covered with traditional reddish ceramic tiles.

Guia Lighthouse🗼✨
According to reports, Dragon Ring is the old name of Taipa, and Portuguese style refers to the five Portuguese style buildings next to the wetland. They were once Macanese residences and official residences. It is a two storey building, displaying the furniture and decorations of Macanese in the past, as well as some old photos. 🍂
There are staff in the museum to answer questions from tourists. Thanks to the staff for the detailed explanation, I learned that the Macanese people in Macau have a history of 450 years. 👀
The remaining four halls are used for exhibitions, shops, activity rooms, snack bars and more. It is also one of the most representative attractions in Macau. Really recommended. 👍🏻✨

The Eastern View Lighthouse is one of Macau's important World Cultural Heritage Sites🌟
Next to it is the sanctuary of the Snow Temple of Our Lady, the two colors of yellow and white are more noble and pure💫💒
An ancient clock containing historical changes was made in 1707, a super ancient artifact🙏🏻
You can also see the watchtower of the fort, which is still well preserved❣️
Very Portuguese-style architecture, really beautiful🤩

GUIA LIGHT HOUSE
Guia Fortress is an oasis of green in the center of Macao and only a short distance from the high-speed ferry terminal. Access is via hiking paths or a short cable car ride. At the top, you'll find impressive views out over Macau, along with old cannons, a small chapel with nicely preserved frescoes dating from the 1600s, and a 91-meter-high lighthouse (closed to entry).
Go underground and explore the series of tunnels in the fortress open to the public; some are near the lighthouse, and some are near the cable car entrance. Located throughout the fortress are exhibits and photos detailing the military history of the area.

Macau's Guia Fortress is the commanding height of Macau. It is located at the top of the Guiyang Mountain. Many young artists like to come here to take a photo, because there is a church of the Virgin of the Snow and a lighthouse on the hill. The mountain can overlook the entire Macau city street at high altitude. It is open every week except Monday. It will be open to the public from 10:00 to 5:00 pm. The Guia Lighthouse was used to defend against foreign invasion and observation stations. It has now been listed on the World Cultural Heritage List!
