Buddha Park in Vientiane
Buddha Park is one of the largest and most beautiful parks in the city of Vientiane. This place is not located in down town, however It can be reached easily by taxi or public transport. The recommended sightseeing time is half an hour or maximum one hour. Bring comfortable walking shoes because you will be moving around/standing for long times. Also plenty of water is esential to hydrate constasntly as this place feels extreme hot. This place is truly amazing. Entrance is not expensive at all. I had a guide who explained about the park and the sculptures. The guide really enhanced my visit there.

Visiting Xieng Khuan
Buddha Park, commonly known as Xieng Khuan, is located 25 kilometers outside of Vientiane. As one may expect from the name, it is famed for having over 200 religious monuments strewn throughout the lovely grounds. The park was the brainchild of a monk who designed the area in 1958 and was interested in both Hindu and Buddhist sculpture, which is why you will find a mix of different influences here.
The piece de resistance here is a 40-meter-high sculpture of a reclining Buddha, and the park was the brainchild of a monk who designed the area in 1958 and was interested in both Hindu and Buddhist sculpture, which is why you will find a mix of different influences here. Keep an eye out for the sculpture of Indra, who sits atop a three-headed elephant and is considered the king of the gods in Hinduism, while you stroll around. Famous gods on horseback, as well as deities with various faces and arms, are among the other attractions.

The park is located 25km from Vientiane centre. I did the trip by bicycle, but it's not recommended. Road is boring and lots of dust beside the burning sun. Entrance to the park is 15.000 kip and then you will see hundreds of statues in a nice and well maintained park (not to big) with some flowers and benches . There is also something to do for the kids.

There are gods in the head.
To Vientiane, Laos, you can visit the local Buddha Park. Although it is a man-made park, there are many stories. It takes about an hour to travel from the city center to Baofou Park. 200 yuan or so.
The Buddha statues here are very strange, and it is said that the builders were inspired by the birth of the dream. If you look closely, you will feel that coming here is a bit like entering Hayao Miyazaki's animation.
After the park was built, the builder went to the other side of the river and Thailand also built a park. The two parks echoed across the bank. Have the opportunity to see when you go to Thailand.

Counting the most visited nine attractions in Vientiane:
(1) Buddha Image Park: The Buddhism and Hindu statues in Manyuan make it awesome. It is more than 20 kilometers away from Vientiane. It can be reached by bus No. 14 at CBS Bus Station. The price is 8000 Kip.
(2) Arc de Triomphe: Built to commemorate the Laos who died in the war, you can climb up to the beautiful city scenery and walk up.
(3) Tatun: It is the most important symbolic building in Laos. Its style is unique among many stupas in Southeast Asia. It can be reached by bus No. 20 at CBS Bus Station. The fare is 5000 Kip.
(4) Lao National Museum: It is the best way to understand the history of Laos. The new museum has been relocated to the northern suburbs of Vientiane. It can be reached by bus No. 29 or 23 at CBS Bus Station. The fare is 4000 or 7000 Kip.
(5) COPE Visitor Center: The orthopaedic prosthetic partner company displayed a number of practical instruments for the victims of mines, arranged in a modern art style and within walking distance.
(6) Sisag Temple: The oldest surviving temple in Vientiane, the Buddha statue in the cloister and the murals of the main hall are very precious and can be reached on foot.
(7) Jade Buddha Temple: Laos Religious Art Museum is located. Although the Jade Buddha has been taken away by Thailand, other Buddha statues in the temple are still worth a visit and can be reached on foot.
(8) Mekong Riverside Park: Starting in the evening, it will become lively, and the rows of cheap small goods stalls will not be seen at first sight, and the food vendors will be able to walk there.
(9) Weng De Temple: The huge bronze Buddha statue in the temple is the most famous and can be reached on foot.
Backpacker_Namcha_Barwa.
The Hinayana Buddhism is prosperous in Laos. Among them, the Xiangkun Temple in the suburb of Vientiane is the most unique. Xiangkun is the "city of the gods". This temple does not have a temple dedicated to Buddha statues. On the large lawn, there are nearly 100 different kinds of Buddha statues, also called "Buddha Park".
There are two treasures in the park: one is the shape of a pumpkin, the Heaven of Heaven tower symbolizing the reincarnation of life, and the other is a large reclining Buddha with a length of more than 40 meters. It is said to be the size of the reclining Buddha in Myanmar and Thailand.
This Buddha Park has nearly 100 Buddha statues in different styles. It combines Buddhism and Hindu style, including Buddha, Guanyin and Hindu three main gods. The shadows of Thailand, India, Laos and other countries can be seen in large and small Buddha statues.
KRISTINA.
Qiqi Park is located in the suburbs of Vientiane. The area is small but it is very good.
Go to the Buddha Park. The first feeling is too small! This park built in the last century is actually the same as our cottage Mickey Mouse or a small paradise, but after decades of sun and rain, the sculptures here have become the same as Angkor Wat, all with cultural relics. And these exotic sculptures are still very attractive to us foreigners.
The big Buddha head at the door can go in from the mouth and climb to the top of the head layer by layer. There are many statues of broken limbs in the middle, which symbolizes hell to heaven. The shape of the statue is not found in other temples. I even saw the Guanyin Bodhisattva in the South China Sea.
Xiangkun Temple is also called Buddha Park. It is located about 25 kilometers southeast of Vientiane. Although the name is a temple, it is more like a sculpture park. The statues in the shape are different and strange. There are not only some statues in the Hinayana Buddhism, but also Hindu statues. The park was built in 1958. It is said that the statues in the park were built by a very imaginative monk at that time. He studied Buddhism and Hinduism. At that time, people thought his brain was abnormal, but he had a hand carved. Good craftsmanship, I carved a lot of strange statues
timetrees.
One of Vientiane's most fascinating tourist attractions, I have been to the Wanfo Park. Like its name, this park is located in the park on the outskirts of Vientiane. It is shaded by trees and decorated with countless Buddha statues. Walking through it, you can feel the rich Buddhist culture. In the park, there are different forms of Buddhism and Hindu gods. A series of Buddha statues are displayed here, each of which has a different form and is lifelike. The monk stood quietly and looked at the statue from the distance peacefully.

Buddha park
Buddha Park, also known as Xieng Khuan, is a unique sculpture park about 25 km. It was built in 1958 by a monk, named Luang Pu Bunleua Sulilat, who combined Buddhist and Hindu iconography. The park is filled with a massive reclining Buddha, mythical creatures, deities, and surreal structures. It offers a fascinating and slightly eerie experience, showcasing an unconventional mix of religious themes and imaginative art.

The Mysterious Buddhist Temple: A Temple Run Experience
Xiang Khuan Temple, also known as Susan Phut or the Buddha Park, is one of the most popular attractions in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. Located about 25 kilometers southeast of Vientiane along the Mekong River, the temple houses nearly a hundred extraordinary, diverse, and bizarre statues of Buddhist and Hindu deities. The temple was designed and built by the monk Luang Pu, integrating Hindu and Buddhist philosophical thoughts. Mythology and sculpture art blend seamlessly, creating this mysterious temple. Visiting it feels like experiencing a temple run adventure.
Transportation Guide: Take bus number 14 from the central bus station in downtown Vientiane, and the final stop is right at the entrance of Xiang Khuan Temple. For the return trip, wait for the bus on the opposite side of the road. The bus fare is 18,000 LAK, and the temple entrance fee is 40,000 LAK.

Vientiane.
Vientiane, the capital of Laos, is a city full of history and culture. Here is a detailed introduction to Vientiane from different aspects:
1. Geographical Location and Transportation
Geographical Location: Vientiane is located in southern Laos, on the banks of the Mekong River, across the river from Thailand.
Transportation: Vientiane has its own Wattay International Airport, which is the main air hub in Laos and easily connects international and domestic flights. To get from the airport to the city center, tourists can take a taxi, bus, or book a hotel shuttle service. The city's public transportation system mainly includes buses and three-wheeled motorcycles (called "tuk-tuks"), while taxis can be hailed through ride-hailing apps (such as Grab) or on the street.
2. Famous Attractions
Vientiane has many attractions worth visiting, including:
Patuxai: Vientiane's iconic landmark, 45 meters high and 24 meters wide, is located in the city center and was originally built to commemorate those who died in the war. It is now a famous landmark in Laos.
That Luang: A Buddhist holy site in Laos, the tower is designed in the shape of lotus petals and has a gold-plated spire. The best time to visit is in the evening.
Wat Si Saket: One of the oldest temples in Vientiane, it mainly houses a jade Buddha statue brought from Luang Prabang, reflecting Lao Buddhist culture.
Wat Xieng Khuan (Buddha Park): Home to hundreds of unique Buddha statues, including a 50-meter-long reclining Buddha statue, it is an important symbol of Buddhist culture.
Black Tower: Despite the passage of time, it remains in good condition and is a testament to Lao history.
Mekong River Park: The best place to enjoy the beauty of the Mekong River and watch the sunset.
Lao National Museum: Located in the center of Vientiane, it is the largest museum in Laos and records the country's history.
3. Food Recommendations
Vientiane's cuisine combines the culinary techniques and flavors of Thailand, Vietnam, and China. Here are some must-try dishes:
Osaka Yakiniku: Chewy beef tripe skewers with a crispy crust, seasoned with butter and secret sauce, crispy and fragrant.
Mango Sago: Refreshing, rich, and sweet and sour, it's the perfect summer drink.
French Crepes: Recommended dish from Miracle Mile Restaurant, with a rich taste.
Shanghai Soup Dumplings: Thin and soft skin, delicious and flavorful soup and meat filling, a bite full of happiness.
Singapore Curry Chicken Rice: Rich and unique taste.
Lao Traditional Larb: A rice-based soup, usually with fish, vegetables, and herbs, with a light and fresh taste.
4. Accommodation Recommendations
Vientiane offers a variety of accommodation options, including luxury hotels, mid-range hotels, guesthouses, and homestays. The city center is the main area where tourists stay, with convenient transportation and many nearby attractions. For example, La Gondola Guesthouse is located in the center of Vientiane, close to Patuxai, Mekong River Park, and Wat Si Saket, making it a good choice.
5. Travel Tips
Climate: Vientiane has a tropical monsoon climate with high temperatures all year round, but distinct wet and dry seasons. Please check the weather forecast before traveling and prepare for sun or rain protection.
Etiquette: Lao people are hospitable and respect Buddhist culture. When visiting religious sites such as temples, please follow local customs and etiquette, dress appropriately, and avoid loud noises.
Safety: Please pay attention to your personal belongings, especially in crowded places. Also, when traveling at night, please choose a safe mode of transportation.
In short, Vientiane is a charming city worth visiting for its history, culture, food, and natural beauty. I hope the above information will help you plan your trip to Vientiane!

Diverse customs, unforgettable memories.
By chance, I came to Laos with my company. The project talks went smoothly. I took the opportunity to visit Vientiane. If you are planning to visit Vientiane, take a look at my itinerary.
- Attractions:
- Patuxai (Victory Gate): Located in the heart of the city, it was built to commemorate the independence of the Lao people. It looks similar to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, but it is decorated with Buddha statues and figures from mythology. The gate has seven floors. The first to fourth floors are indoors, and there are souvenir shops on the third and fourth floors. The fifth and sixth floors are outdoors, and you can enjoy the city view. The seventh floor is also indoors, and the space is small. You can look out of the windows. The entrance fee is 30,000 Lao Kip (about 10 RMB), and the opening hours are 08:30 - 17:00.
- Pha That Luang (Great Stupa): A sacred place in the hearts of the Lao people, it was built in 737 AD and expanded in 1566. The stupa is 45 meters high, and the base is three floors, covering an area of 8,400 square meters. The relics of the Buddha are buried under the stupa, making it a Buddhist holy land. Pha That Luang is divided into the South Temple and the North Temple. The South Temple has a Buddha hall with carved beams and painted rafters, Buddha statues with different expressions, and an open-air reclining Buddha. The North Temple is the residence of the Lao Buddhist Patriarch, and the interior is not open to the public. The outer perimeter is free, and there may be a fee to enter the interior, but the specific amount is not fixed.
- Wat Xieng Khuan (Buddha Park): This is a sculpture theme park mainly based on Buddhism and Hinduism. It is far from Vientiane city, but it is worth a visit. There are many Buddha statues in the park, with strange expressions. Most of the themes are derived from Buddhist stories and legends. The entrance fee is 40,000 Lao Kip (about 13 RMB).
- La Foret Treetop Coffee Park: 40 minutes by car from Vientiane city, entrance fee 80,000 Lao Kip (about 24 RMB), bike rental 40,000 Lao Kip (about 12 RMB)/three hours.
- Food:
- Lao Hotpot: Available at Vientiane Night Market, about 85,000 Lao Kip (about 28 RMB) per person.
- Sam Ho Beef Noodle: A popular local noodle shop, with fresh soup and tender meat. Small portion 35,000 Lao Kip (about 12 RMB), extra meat 50,000 Lao Kip (about 17 RMB).
- Lepadaek Restaurant: Exquisite, romantic and stylish Lao restaurant, with an average consumption of 100-200 RMB per person.
- Precautions:
- Climate: Laos has a tropical monsoon climate, with high temperatures. The year is divided into dry and rainy seasons. The best time to travel is from November to March of the following year, when the climate is relatively cool.
- Transportation: In the city, you can choose to take a tuk-tuk or a Jiangbo (a kind of three-wheeled motorcycle). After agreeing on the price of the car, be careful not to let anyone else get on the car during the journey to avoid overloading.
- Time: Laos is one hour behind Beijing time.
- Take off your shoes when entering a Lao temple, and dress neatly and modestly.
- Lao people dislike others touching their heads, as they believe that the head is a sacred part of the body that should not be violated.
- Credit cards can only be used in tourist towns such as Vientiane, and there are not many ATMs. There is a handling fee for using them.

Buddha Park in Vientiane, Laos: A magical journey of art and faith.
In the southeast of Vientiane, the capital of Laos, on the banks of the Mekong River, lies a unique religious and cultural attraction - Buddha Park, also known as Buddha Image Park or Buddha Statue Park. This temple, built in 1958, has a history of less than 60 years, but with its unique sculpture art and profound religious implications, it has become a shining pearl in Laos and even Southeast Asia.
Buddha Park is located in the suburbs of Vientiane, about 25 kilometers from the city, adjacent to the Mekong River, and facing Thailand across the river. The temple does not have traditional temples and halls. Instead, it is a vast garden with hundreds of different Buddha statues. These sculptures are scattered in the garden, and they are interesting with the surrounding tropical trees and flowers, forming a vivid and harmonious picture.
Entering Buddha Park, the first thing that catches your eye is a huge spherical building, which is the famous "Heaven and Hell Tower". This tower is divided into three layers, representing hell, the world, and heaven from bottom to top. Tourists need to climb to the top of the tower through steep stairs to experience the wonderful journey from "hell" to "heaven". Each layer is full of different sculptures, telling different religious stories and life philosophies.
The sculpture art of Buddha Park is one of its biggest highlights. These sculptures were independently completed by a Laotian monk named Buwei (also known as the Thai monk Benlesulila). He integrated the philosophy, legend, and iconology of Buddhism and Hinduism to create these different shapes and lifelike Buddha statues. These sculptures are mainly made of cement. After half a century of wind and rain, although they seem a bit mottled and vicissitudes, they add a bit of historical heaviness.
The Buddha statues in Buddha Park are famous for their novelty and weirdness. There are solemn and kind Guanyin Bodhisattva, majestic and solemn Buddha Shakyamuni, and weird Hindu gods and creatures in myths and legends. Each Buddha statue seems to have its own life and story, quietly telling the mystery of religion and the philosophy of life. Among them, a 45-meter-long reclining Buddha is particularly eye-catching. This is one of the largest reclining Buddha statues in Laos and the third largest reclining Buddha in Southeast Asia. The reclining Buddha's right hand supports his head, and his left hand gently rests on his side. He is draped in a cassock, his eyes closed, and he looks content, giving people a sense of tranquility and peace.
Buddha Park is not only a treasure trove of sculpture art, but also a holy place with profound religious and cultural connotations. Here, tourists can feel the fusion and collision of Buddhist and Hindu thoughts, and experience the harmonious coexistence of different religious cultures. The sculptures of Buddha Park not only show the mystery and solemnity of religion, but also convey the philosophy of life and moral norms through vivid images and stories. For example, the design of the "Heaven and Hell Tower" implies the retribution of good and evil in life and the cycle of cause and effect, reminding people to do more good deeds, cultivate their character and pursue a higher spiritual realm.
For tourists coming to Vientiane, Laos, Buddha Park is undoubtedly a must-visit place. It not only has unique sculpture art and profound religious and cultural connotations, but also has a beautiful natural environment and a quiet atmosphere. Tourists can stroll around here, take photos, and taste the charm and charm of religious culture. In addition, there are many leisure facilities and snack stalls around Buddha Park for tourists to enjoy food and rest and relax.
Buddha Park in Vientiane, Laos is a unique temple that integrates art, religion and culture. It attracts countless tourists to visit and pilgrimage with its unique sculpture art and profound religious and cultural connotations. Here, people can feel the harmonious coexistence of art and faith and the exchange and integration of different religious cultures. Buddha Park is undoubtedly a religious and cultural treasure worth exploring and exploring.

Vientiane, Laos - A Rare Hidden Gem
Here you will find low prices and simple folk customs
Here you will find Buddhist temples of various styles
Here you will find the quietly flowing Mekong River
Transportation🚴
I chose to cross the border from Thailand to Laos
You can first take a flight✈️ from Bangkok to Udon Thani, then take a bus through the Nong Khai border to Vientiane. This is half the price of flying directly from Bangkok to Vientiane!
Public transportation within Vientiane is not well developed. You can choose to take the local tuk-tuk, which is inexpensive. Generally, a single ride costs no more than 10r.
Of course, walking through the city center of Vientiane is also a great option!
Food🍜
Here, you can DIY your own fruit smoothie. Choose the fruits🍉 you want, and the staff will put them into the juicer to make a smoothie for you, which is refreshing and cool!
You can visit the Mekong Night Market and Vientiane Night Market, where you can find cheap and affordable Southeast Asian food. You can eat well for less than 50r!
You can also choose to shop at the local department store, Vientiane Center Shopping Mall, which is said to be invested by Chinese people.
Attractions🗼
That Luang Stupa
Patuxay
Haw Pha Kaew
Wat Si Saket
Lao National Museum
You can visit all the attractions in the city in one day. If you have more time, you can visit Wat Xieng Khouane (Buddha Park).
About the China-Laos Railway🚞
Vientiane Station is the terminus of the China-Laos Railway.
If you are departing from China, traveling from Kunming, Yunnan to Vientiane, Laos, you can book tickets directly on websites like 12306 and Ctrip.
If you want to travel in the opposite direction, it is more troublesome. Domestic platforms do not support it, and Laos does not have a mature online platform for booking tickets. Local residents buy tickets at the train station 7 days in advance, so you may need to find someone online to buy tickets in advance!
Accommodation🏨
Hotels in Vientiane are generally affordable. I stayed at the Malina Hotel, which has a swimming pool and a café. A standard room costs about 170r per night, and the accommodation environment is okay.
It is recommended to stay in the city center, near the Mekong River area, which is close to various attractions and allows you to experience the local atmosphere.

This is a sculpture park located southeast of Vientiane. It was built by Pu Boonluea Sureerat or Pu Luea, a Vipassana practitioner and researcher of Buddhism and Hinduism. Each Buddha statue contains mystical teachings. The viewer must contemplate to understand. Inside the park, there are many statues, including Buddha statues, statues of Hindu gods such as Vishnu, Shiva, Indra on Erawan, and many other statues, totaling more than 200 statues. The highlight here is the large pumpkin-shaped statue, which has 4 levels and a door in the shape of a mouth. Buddha Park, also known as the Cultural Park Xieng Khuan.
The Cultural Park Xieng Khuan is a popular tourist destination, established since 1958 (B.E. 2501), located about 25 kilometers from Vientiane city center and approximately 7.3 kilometers from the Thai-Laos Friendship Bridge.
Tourists call it Buddha Park, but the Laotians know it as Wat Xieng Khuan. The area is not very large, but it contains many interesting features, such as concrete statues depicting the life of Buddha, various postures of deities, and numbers that guide visitors to view the statues in sequence.
There are images of headphones, as if there is an audio guide available at certain points, but it is unclear if they are still in use as no one seems to be wearing headphones.
There are numerous statues, with Lao inscriptions narrating stories on the concrete bases. However, there are no Thai or English translations, making it difficult to understand some of the stories, as some statues look unusual and seem to have their own tales. It's a pity because if we could understand them, the visit would be much more enjoyable.
There is a round building resembling a pumpkin or a monk's alms bowl that tourists can enter. One must crawl and climb very steep and narrow stairs. Inside, the 'pumpkin flesh' area has walkways with small square windows to look out and enjoy the view, as well as to peek at the statues in the 'pumpkin seed cavity' area. It's a very interesting and well-designed space.
The 'pumpkin seed cavity' is divided into three levels. The top level features deity statues with serpent tails, likely representing the divine realm. One level down might represent the human world, including giants. The lowest level is hell, with various forms of soul torment based on the sins committed.
Walking through to the back, there is a flower garden and a small longboat museum with two impressive boats on display. These boats, 55 paddles in length, have won several competitions, but since the COVID outbreak, there have been no races and no storage, so the Buddha Park has preserved them here for tourists to appreciate Lao boat racing culture.
Additionally, there is a restaurant and drink stalls with seating next to the Mekong River. The atmosphere is pleasant, with a great view and cool breeze. There are plenty of seats available to accommodate large tour groups, delicious food with a diverse menu, and reasonable prices, similar to any other restaurant outside.
Free restrooms are available inside, clean and sufficient in number.
You can drive here comfortably as there is ample parking space right in front of the Buddha Park.
If you don't have a car, you can take air-conditioned bus number 14 from the morning market. Buses run every half hour, costing 12,000 kip or 24 baht, and the journey takes about 40 minutes.
The entrance fee for Buddha Park is 15,000 kip or 30 baht for Laotians and 40,000 kip or 80 baht for foreigners. It's very worthwhile.
