China's loneliest martyrs' cemetery, a sacred place of faith at 4,280 meters above sea level! 🇨🇳 "Pure love, only for China." When you see this sentence, do you also feel tears welling up? 😭 This sentence comes from Martyr Chen Xiangrong, who was only 19 years old. Today, I want to take you to his final resting place, the highest martyrs' cemetery in China—the Kangxiwa Martyrs' Cemetery. It is known as "China's loneliest martyrs' cemetery" because it is located deep in the Karakoram Mountains at an altitude of 4,280 meters, where the air is thin and the cold wind is biting. There is no bustling noise here, only towering snow-capped mountains and the heroic souls guarding the border. But this is not a cold tombstone; it is a burning spiritual highland! 🔥 This guide is not only about how to get here but also about how to sincerely touch that "pure love." Get your tissues ready, let's go! 🚙💨 🗺️ Practical Guide: How to reach the "Life Forbidden Zone"? Going to Kangxiwa is not just a trip; it is a test of both body and will. There are no comfortable cable cars here, only winding mountain roads. 1. Location and Transportation · Coordinates: Setula Town, Pishan County, Hotan Prefecture, Xinjiang, deep in the Karakoram Mountains. · Route: Usually depart from Yecheng County, following the famous Xinjiang-Tibet Highway (National Highway G219). · Distance: About 430 kilometers from Yecheng to the cemetery, taking 8-10 hours by car. · Road conditions: Fully paved, but the mountain roads are rugged with countless hairpin turns, crossing three mountain passes, the highest near 5,000 meters. It is recommended to drive an off-road vehicle or SUV; beginners should be cautious! 🚗 2. Best Time to Visit · Recommended season: June to September. · Reason: Winters here are long, with heavy snow blocking the mountains from October to May, and temperatures can drop to -30 to -40°C, extremely dangerous. Summers are cool but have strong UV rays and possible rain or snow. ☀️❄️ 3. Tickets and Opening Hours · Tickets: Free 🆓. · Opening hours: Open all day, but it is recommended to arrive during daylight and descend before dark. 🎒 Preparation: These "life-saving" items are essential Don't be fooled by the beautiful pictures online; this is a true "life forbidden zone," so preparation is crucial! 1. Altitude sickness remedies: Take Rhodiola a week before departure. Carry oxygen bottles (a must!), and glucose oral liquid. At altitudes above 4,000 meters, even breathing is a burden. 🌬️ 2. Warm clothing: No matter the season, bring down jackets, windbreakers, and fleece pants! The wind at the summit cuts like a knife, and the perceived temperature is extremely low. 🧥 3. Sun protection and moisturizing: The plateau's UV rays can cause peeling; bring high-SPF sunscreen, sunglasses, and a sun hat. The air is extremely dry, so lip balm and moisturizer are lifesavers. 🧴 4. Food supplies: There are almost no supply points on the way, so bring enough dry food (chocolate, beef jerky) and hot water (thermos). 🍫 📸 Touring: Witness faith here After an 8-hour bumpy ride, when you finally see the cemetery standing beneath the snow mountains, all fatigue will turn into solemn respect. 1. Pay respects at the Martyrs' Monument A tall monument stands in the center of the cemetery, inscribed with "Martyrs who defend the motherland's border will live forever." In the fierce level-10 wind, these golden words shine brightly. Please take off your hat, bow, and feel the shock that transcends time and space here. 🙏 2. Find Chen Xiangrong’s oranges In front of Martyr Chen Xiangrong’s tomb, you will always see fresh oranges. They were his favorite fruit. 🍊 Many visitors write blessings on the oranges with markers or write "Pure love, only for China" on stones. This is not just a tribute but a spiritual inheritance. 3. Listen to the "Roll Call Story" If you are lucky to meet the stationed soldiers, you might hear the touching story: in the class where Martyr Xiao Siyuan served, every time the squad leader calls "Xiao Siyuan," the whole squad answers "Present!" This voice echoes in the Karakoram and has never disappeared. 📢 4. Look afar at the "Karakoram Spirit" On the mountains opposite the cemetery, soldiers have piled stones to form the eight large characters "Promote the Karakoram Spirit." Standing at the cemetery looking afar, you will understand what it means to "cherish every inch of our great land"! 🇨🇳 💡 Pitfalls and Precautions (Take note!) 1. Strictly prohibit uncivilized behavior: This is a solemn resting place. Do not step on tombstones, do not pose for silly photos in front of graves, and do not make loud noises. Previously, netizens were prosecuted for insulting martyrs; please always show respect! 🚫 2. Altitude sickness response: If you feel severe headache or difficulty breathing at the cemetery, stop activities immediately, use oxygen, and descend to lower altitudes (such as Setula Town) as soon as possible. Do not tough it out! 3. Respect local customs: You may encounter herders along the way; please respect local customs. ❤️ Emotional Elevation: Why come here? Some say Kangxiwa is too far and too harsh. But precisely because it is far and harsh, the greatness of the martyrs shines even more. More than 100 heroes rest here, many of whom were only 18 or 20 years old when they sacrificed themselves—ages when they loved to laugh and play just like you and me. They left their youth in the snow mountains, exchanging it for the peaceful times we enjoy now. 🌹 Coming here is not for a check-in but to seek roots and forge souls. When you stand on the peak of the Kunlun Mountains, watching the five-star red flag flutter in the wind, you will deeply understand: "The place where I stand is China!" 📢 Interactive Topic If one day you arrive at Kangxiwa, what would you like to say to the heroes there? Or, what was the most touching moment you encountered on your travels? 👇 Please leave a comment below, let’s pass on this "pure love" together! 📌 Follow me to see a different China and take the most heartfelt journeys!
