Yueyang, formerly known as Baling, is a city "flooded" by Dongting Lake. The vast, 800-li (approximately 400 km) expanse of the lake has nurtured the city's ancient cultural heritage of "being the first to worry about the world's troubles and the last to enjoy its pleasures," and has also infused it with a vibrant, unpretentious local flavor. Nestled between Changsha and Wuhan, it remains unassuming yet boasts famous towers, fairy islands, ancient villages, old streets, and a barbecue street where you can eat until the early hours of the morning. If you only have two days, or happen to be looking for a relaxing weekend getaway, Yueyang is an excellent value choice. I. Yueyang Tower: A tower that has become a staple of Chinese language textbooks. Most people who come to Yueyang are drawn by Fan Zhongyan's famous quote, "Be the first to worry about the world's troubles and the last to enjoy its pleasures." Yueyang Tower, along with the Yellow Crane Tower and Tengwang Pavilion, is considered one of the three great towers south of the Yangtze River, and it is the only one of the three that retains its pure wooden structure without a single iron nail. Opening hours are 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM, with last entry at 5:30 PM. The main building closes at 6:15 PM. Here's a little-known money-saving tip: recite the entire "Yueyang Tower Inscription" on the park's mini-program, pass the test, and you can get free admission, saving 70 yuan. This applies even on holidays. Daily quotas are limited, so it's recommended to go early in the morning. The recommended route is to enter from the North Gate and exit from the South Gate, as most tour groups use the South Gate, while the North Gate has fewer people and shorter queues. After entering, pass by Xiao Qiao's Tomb, the Poetry Stele Corridor, and the Shuang Gong Ancestral Hall, finally ascending to the main building. The Qing Dynasty gold-lettered "Yueyang Tower Inscription" carved screen on the second floor of the main building is an original, authentic work with vigorous calligraphy. The third floor is a 360° unobstructed viewing platform; the moment you step onto it, the vast expanse of Dongting Lake unfolds before your eyes. "Embracing distant mountains and swallowing the Yangtze River" is no longer just a phrase to recite, but a real and tangible experience. The Dongting Lake viewing area below is worth lingering over for a while. The lakeside walkway offers expansive views, and after 4 PM, the light softens, turning the lake golden – the perfect time for photography. The "Hou Yi Shooting the Bashe" sculpture at Baling Square and the area around Zhanyue Gate offer excellent vantage points for capturing the "Yueyang Tower and lake in one frame." II. Junshan Island: A Green Snail in a Silver Plate, Hiding Two Love Stories A boat trip from the Nanyuepo Wharf south of Yueyang Tower takes about twenty minutes to reach Junshan Island. Liu Yuxi's poem, "Gazing afar at the verdant mountains and waters of Dongting, a green snail in a silver plate," describes this small island in the heart of the lake. Junshan Island admission is 78 yuan, including round-trip boat tickets; buying online in advance is usually more cost-effective. Once on the island, a leisurely stroll around the island takes about 2.5 to 3 hours. The core attractions are centered around two legends: the Xiangfei Temple and the Tomb of the Two Consorts tell the story of Ehuang and Nüying weeping until bamboo became spotted, and the island's vast bamboo forest remains "real-world evidence" of this legend; the Liu Yi Well and the Letter-Passing Pavilion are derived from the love story of the dragon girl in "Liu Yi Passes the Letter," a quiet ancient well and a small pavilion nestled deep within the bamboo grove. The island also boasts a Junshan Silver Needle tea garden. Junshan Silver Needle is the only yellow tea among China's top ten famous teas. At the tea garden, you can enjoy a cup of authentic Silver Needle tea or buy it as a souvenir. If you time it right, you can watch the sunset over Dongting Lake from the Langyin Pavilion area in the evening; the lake is bathed in golden light, offering a much wider view than from the city. Note: Shipping is highly dependent on weather conditions; strong winds or flood season may cause service disruptions. Always check shipping information before departure. Be aware of touts selling "private speedboats" at the pier; prices are inflated and safety is not guaranteed. III. Bianhe Street and Dongting South Road: Day and Night in the Old Street Just outside the south gate of Yueyang Tower lies Bianhe Street. This is a lakeside, antique-style commercial street with bluestone slabs, carved windows, and flying eaves. It's perfect for leisurely strolls during the day, but busiest after 6 PM, brimming with local life. The street isn't long, but it's packed with snacks: freshly fried Dongting shrimp cakes, small river shrimp mixed with rice batter and fried until golden brown, five yuan a piece, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, bursting with the sweetness of the shrimp; Pingjiang dried tofu, freshly braised and sold, five yuan a serving, spicy and chewy, perfect for eating on the go; and Yueyang bean curd sheets, sugar-coated glutinous rice cakes, and Baling soup dumplings—local favorites that have been enjoyed since childhood. If you want to avoid the touristy atmosphere of Bianhe Street, head south to the Dongting South Road historical and cultural district. This old street dates back to the Song Dynasty, and its blue bricks and gray tiles reveal the more authentic urban fabric of Yueyang. Fish Alley is located in this area, a place where locals truly frequent for food. As evening falls and the lights come on, the atmosphere of the entire alley truly awakens. At the Jiehekou fish market, live fish are caught and prepared on the spot, with signature dishes including chopped chili fish head and silverfish soup. IV. Yueyang Barbecue: The True Soul of the City's Late Night If Yueyang Tower is the face of Yueyang, then barbecue is its essence. Yueyang barbecue has been certified by CCTV as the "benchmark of southern barbecue," with charcoal grilling offering the city's most authentic flavor. Locals have a saying about the "soulful three-piece set" for barbecue: beef tallow, beef tendon, and beef. Grilled beef tallow is unique to Yueyang—a small piece bursting with milky aroma with every bite, something you can't find anywhere else. Perilla snails are also a must-order; the fragrance of perilla and the spiciness of the snail meat blend together over charcoal, paired with an ice-cold beer—the quintessential way to experience a Yueyang night. Paotaishan Food Street is the most concentrated area for Yueyang barbecue and is recognized by locals as "Barbecue Street." Pangjia Barbecue, Hongdenglong Barbecue, and Tanjia Barbecue are all well-regarded local restaurants. A satisfying meal costs around 50 yuan per person, making it excellent value for a tourist city. V. If you have another day: Two places worth a special trip Zhang Guying Village, about a 1.5-hour drive from Yueyang city, is known as "The First Village Under Heaven." It's not just an ordinary ancient village, but a maze of Ming and Qing dynasty architecture with over 600 interconnected rooms. The layout resembles the Chinese character "丰" (feng), with roofs connected. Walking from one end to the other without getting wet or muddy is a testament to a complete indoor interconnected system designed 500 years ago. Tickets cost 40-45 yuan, and free guided tours are available at the ticket office. Following a guide allows you to truly appreciate the ingenuity of the fire prevention and drainage designs. Qu Zi Cultural Park is located in Miluo, about a 1-hour drive from Yueyang city. This is where Qu Yuan drowned himself in the river. The Qu Zi Temple, the Li Sao Stele Forest, and the Qu Zi Academy form a complete cultural space dedicated to Chu Ci (the ancient Chinese poetry of Chu). The Stele Forest contains 365 seal script inscriptions. The park is quite large, and you can rent an electric scooter to explore at your leisure. If you're interested in Dragon Boat Festival culture and Qu Yuan, it's worth spending half a day here. VI. Practical Tips Transportation: Take the high-speed train from Changsha South Station to Yueyang East Station, which takes about 30 minutes. From there, take bus route "Tourist 1" (2 yuan) directly to the Yueyang Tower area. A taxi will cost approximately 20-30 yuan. Shared electric scooters offer a great lakeside riding experience within the city, and Yueyang Tower, Bianhe Street, and Baling Square are all within walking distance. Accommodation: The best accommodations are around Yueyang Tower or Bianhe Street, within walking distance of the main attractions; the second best option is around Nanhu Lake, which is quiet and suitable for a relaxing vacation. Best Season: April-May for warm spring breezes; September-November for clear skies and crisp autumn air, with the most beautiful sunsets over Dongting Lake; winter is a good time to see migratory birds. Avoid these pitfalls: Don't trust unlicensed speedboats or unlicensed guides soliciting passengers on the roadside; cruise ships depart from the official pier at Baling Square. It's windy by the lake, so bring a light jacket regardless of the season. The Yueyang Tower's nighttime lighting is only for the exterior; the main tower is closed at night, so be careful not to buy the wrong tickets. Yueyang, formerly known as Baling, is a city "soaked" by Dongting Lake. The vast, 800-li expanse of the lake has nurtured the city's ancient cultural heritage of "being the first to worry about the world's troubles," and has also infused it with a vibrant, unpretentious spirit. Nestled between Changsha and Wuhan, it doesn't compete for attention, yet it boasts famous towers, fairy islands, ancient villages, old streets, and a barbecue street where you can eat until the early hours. If you only have two days, or happen to be looking for a relaxing weekend getaway, Yueyang is a highly cost-effective choice. I. Visiting Yueyang in November and don't want to crowd into Yueyang Tower or Junshan Island? Take my advice: these niche spots are the real gems! 👇 The autumn air is crisp, the lake breeze is refreshing, and the migratory bird season has just begun—it's great value for money! 💯 · *🏘️ Low-intensity city tour (free/half-day)** · **Dongting South Road + Yuxiangzi + Cishi Pagoda**: The Dongting South Road Historical and Cultural District is free and open all day; Cishi Pagoda is located on the southwest side of Dongting Lake and is also free. Yuxiangzi has more of a local, authentic vibe than Bianhe Street, with graffiti walls, small eateries, and old piers perfect for photos 📸. Follow this route: Yuxiangzi > Cishi Pagoda > Zhengjie Street > Yueyang Port Ruins > Lüxian Pavilion > Lakeside Trail. The sunset over the lake in the evening is stunning 🌅, and you can end your day perfectly with some shrimp cakes and flat noodles! · **Jin'e Mountain Park/Nanhu Lake area**: Wenchang Pavilion at Jin'e Mountain is free. The Nanjin Ancient Ferry, Sheyue Park, and Qianmu Lake Pier at Nanhu Lake are all great to explore at a leisurely pace. You can find the Nanhu Lake cruise on Trip.com; prices vary by product, so remember to check the daily schedule if you want to ride. If you don't want to crowd into Baling Square, these two spots are great alternatives and much more comfortable! · *🏯 Best suburban spots (ancient villages + Zen temples)** · **Zhangguying Village**: Located in Zhangguying Town, Yueyang County, this area features a cluster of ancient Ming and Qing dynasty residences. Tickets on Trip.com start from about CNY 35.78 (subject to the ticket window). In November, the autumn sun slanting across the bluestone paths makes for great photos 🌟! Be sure to visit the Main Gate, Baibu Three-Arch Bridge, Panxi Corridor, Shangxinwu, and the Ancestral Hall. You must try the village's fried tofu, steamed cured meat, and bean dregs soup! It is recommended to enter the village before 8:00 AM or after 2:00 PM to avoid tour groups. The bluestone paths can be slippery when wet, so wear non-slip flat shoes 👟. There are bus lines from the Wulipai Bus Station in the city, but driving yourself is more convenient. A half-day to one-day trip is perfect 🆗 · **Sheng'an Temple + Wanfo Pagoda**: Located on Yideng Road, Yueyang Tower District. Tickets on Trip.com start from CNY 16; Wanfo Pagoda tickets may need to be purchased separately through some channels. Regular hours are 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with last entry around 4:30 PM; check the daily announcement for tower access. With red walls, jade Buddhas, and a nine-story pagoda overlooking Nanhu Lake and Dongting Lake, it's much less crowded than Yueyang Tower! Climbing the tower on a clear November evening to watch the sunset over the city and lake is well worth the price of admission! You can combine this with a half-day trip to the China Giant Panda Garden (Longshan, from about CNY 54) 🐼 · *🦆 Nature/migratory bird lovers (autumn/winter exclusive)** · **Tuanhu Lake / Reeds around Junshan Wild Lotus World**: Tuanhu Lake is known for its lotus flowers in summer. While there are no flowers in November, the autumn reeds, migratory birds, and pristine lake inlets are well worth a visit 🌾. It takes about 20 minutes to drive to Tuanhu Lake from the city; public transport is inconvenient. Don't venture too deep into the muddy areas by the lake, and bring binoculars for birdwatching! If you are going specifically for migratory birds, check the daily open areas and birdwatching regulations for the East Dongting Lake Nature Reserve first—it's safer than just heading out blindly! · **Wujianshan National Forest Park (Linxiang)**: No. 1 Senlin Road, free admission, 8:30 AM–5:30 PM, Trip.com rating 4.4. November autumn colors + hiking is a perfect match 🍁. You can visit Dianjiang Terrace, Yunlin Temple, and Dabei Temple in one go. It takes about 1.5 hours or more to reach the summit (depending on your fitness level); wear windproof sneakers. In Linxiang, you can add the 6501 Jiangnan Desert (tailings sand sea, great for sunset photos), but it's windy and cold in the sandy area in November, so plan for half a day! · *🏛️ Long-distance cultural tour (2–3 nights accommodation)** · **Miluo Quzi Cultural Park/Quzi Temple**: Adult tickets for Quzi Cultural Park are about CNY 56, open 9:00 AM–5:30 PM. It's less crowded in November than during the Dragon Boat Festival. Reading "Li Sao," viewing Chu-style architecture, and walking along the Miluo River is very artistic 📖. Combine it with a half-day trip to Changle Ancient Town for a more relaxed pace! · **Xiangyin Zuo Zongtang route**: Adult tickets for Liuzhuang are about CNY 36.8, and the Zuo Zongtang Memorial Hall is about CNY 27.8; a joint ticket is more cost-effective! At Liuzhuang, see Zuo Zongtang's former residence and the farming exhibition; at the memorial hall, learn about his life. If you have more time, add Yangsha Lake (Xilongli is about CNY 49.9, Yuyao Water Town is free) or eat crab at Helong Lake 🦀 · **Pingjiang Baisi Village/Lutou/Lijiang Pastoral**: If you are willing to travel further, the small villages in Pingjiang are less crowded in autumn. Baisi Village is free and great for pastoral-style travel notes 📝, but the drive is long, so a deep-dive trip of 3 days or more is recommended! · *📝 November niche itinerary reference** · 1-day city tour: Dongting South Road + Cishi Pagoda + Sheng'an Temple + Nanhu Lake sunset · 2 days: Day 1 city route, Day 2 leisurely stroll in Zhangguying Village · 3 days: Add Miluo Quzi or Xiangyin Zuo Zongtang; if you love the outdoors, swap for Wujianshan or Tuanhu Lake birdwatching ⚠️ Note: In November, the temperature difference between day and night in the Yueyang lake area is large, and the lake breeze is cold ❄️. Try to visit Zhangguying/Sheng'an in the morning or afternoon when the lighting is good. On rainy or foggy days, the lake view from Yueyang Tower will be less impressive, while the old streets, ancient villages, and temples are more reliable! 📸 Small tips: A little girl walking by an ancient pagoda, a cartoon cat encountered by the city wall—these are all unexpected surprises. Recently, Hunan has been blessed with clear skies, making it the perfect time to visit Donggu Lake in Yueyang and experience this breathtaking winter wonderland of sunsets and swans 🦢! Flocks of swans from Siberia take to the skies alongside the glowing sunset, creating a scene straight out of a wildlife documentary. For those eager to witness the migratory birds of Dongting Lake, pick a sunny day, drive over, and capture the stunning sunsets and the mesmerizing sight of birds flying in formation. It's a therapeutic and picture-perfect experience. Every year from November to March, thousands of migratory birds travel across mountains and seas from Siberia to spend the winter in the Dongting Lake area of Yueyang, Hunan. The Donggu Lake Wetland is a hidden gem for spotting whooper swans. The lake, dotted with swans gliding gracefully, feels like a paradise on earth. ✨ Travel and Accommodation Recommendation: Stay at the Mingyue Lanting Hotel, a comfortable and clean option with convenient parking. Rest up for the night before driving to Donggu Lake the next day. This way, you can avoid the hassle of rushing and fully enjoy the stunning sunsets and birdwatching experience. 📍 Location: Donggu Lake Scenic Area, Quyuan Management District, Yueyang City. Self-driving is recommended, and parking at the scenic area costs only 10 RMB per day. 🎒 Suggested Gear: Binoculars, DSLR camera (a 200mm lens might be too short; a 300mm or longer telephoto lens is recommended), and a smartphone capable of capturing motion shots to snap the swans in flight. 🎫 Scenic Area Perks: Free admission and no need for prior reservations! You can take a sightseeing shuttle for just 2 RMB, making it a highly cost-effective trip. 📌 Two Key Birdwatching Spots: Birdwatching Spot 1 | Observation Hut: After getting off the sightseeing shuttle, walk about 400 meters to reach a large pond where swans and moorhens gather in groups. From a distance, they look like fluffy white clouds floating on the water. A telephoto lens is ideal for capturing the scene. Pro tip: At 4:30 PM daily, drones are used to feed the swans, creating a spectacular sight of swans taking off en masse—perfect for dramatic photography. Birdwatching Spot 2 | Dike Path: After visiting the observation hut, continue deeper into the scenic area. Turn left at the feed shed to find this path. The distant metasequoia forest provides a poetic backdrop, and if you're lucky, you might spot white cranes, gray cranes, and bean geese. On clear evenings, the lake shimmers with golden light as the setting sun casts a golden glow on the swans' feathers. Around 6 PM, just before and after sunset, the swans are most active, flying in flocks and soaring together. The sight of swans and the sunset in harmony is unforgettable, with migratory birds gliding over the lake, creating a scene straight out of a nature documentary. While you're in the area, consider visiting Zuo Zongtang's Former Residence in Xiangyin or Qingshan Island to see the Yangtze River dolphins. This trip offers a chance to explore multiple scenic wonders of Dongting Lake. These swans, traveling thousands of miles, seem to bring blessings from afar. May everyone who visits be graced with good fortune in the coming year ✨

1. Liling | 25 minutes Liling, known as the porcelain capital, stays uncrowded even on weekends. During the day, visit China Ceramics Valley, where the giant ceramic‑bowl buildings are very photogenic, and go to Lujiang Academy, where ancient trees tower and it's several degrees cooler than downtown. In Qingxi Town, rent a bike and ride the countryside greenway while the scent of rice fills the air. Don't eat Mao‑style braised pork in the tourist area; find a local spot in the alley opposite the bus station. 3. Standing at the window on the third floor of Yueyang Tower, the wind blows straight in from the lake. In the distance, the water and sky merge into a gray-white line, and the Yueyang Gate below shrinks to the size of a palm. Before I came, I thought this was just a place to climb up and take photos, but after standing there, I realized this tower is meant for gazing out at the lake. Yueyang is located at the confluence of Dongting Lake and the Yangtze River. Yueyang Tower is on Dongting North Road in the Yueyanglou District. You can take a train to either Yueyang Station or Yueyang East Station. The East Station serves high-speed rail. A 2-day itinerary is convenient: spend 1 day around the tower and the lake, and the other day you can head to Miluo or Zhangguying Village. There are only 3 main things to see: a tower, a lake, and an island in the middle of the lake. The tower and the lake are best seen together Yueyang Tower is one of the 3 great towers of Jiangnan. The one before your eyes was rebuilt during the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty. 4 pillars support 3 layers of flying eaves, and the entire building was constructed without a single iron nail, relying entirely on wood joinery. Don't rush to go upstairs when you enter; take a moment to look at the carved screen of "Yueyang Tower Record" on the first floor. It's a sandalwood carving, a replica from the Qing Dynasty, as the original has long been collected. Once you reach the third floor and look west, you can take in Dongting Lake, Junshan Island, and the distant Yangtze River estuary all at once. Standing at this height, you'll understand what Fan Zhongyan meant when he wrote about "embracing distant mountains and swallowing the Yangtze River." A boat ticket splits Dongting in two Take a boat from the pier next to Yueyang Tower to Junshan Island. The trip takes about 40 minutes. As the boat sets off, the shore slowly recedes into a line, and that's when you truly feel the scale of the 800-li Dongting Lake. The island isn't large. Half a day is enough to walk around it. The Xiang Concubine Temple is dedicated to the 2 consorts of Emperor Shun, and the spotted bamboo in the courtyard is marked with tear-like stains. Further ahead is the Liu Yi Well, where the story of Liu Yi delivering the letter took place. In autumn, when the reeds turn white, the entire lakeshore is perfect for photos. Eat fish by the river, slurp noodles in the streets You don't need to go out of your way to find food. For lunch, grab a table of fish nearby. Steamed icefish from Dongting Lake and braised crucian carp are great, or if you're feeling fancy, order a full-fish feast for about CNY 50–80 per person. In the evening, head to Dongting South Road, a district converted from old warehouses and piers. Take your time enjoying river snails and crawfish with some local beer. For breakfast, I'm partial to Yueyang rice noodles. They are generous with the toppings; a bowl of beef noodles costs about CNY 10, and the broth is made from bone stock. For accommodation, choose the area around Yueyang Tower or Bianhe Street. You'll be just a few steps from the scenic area, and you can come out at night to see the illuminated tower. You can book a clean chain hotel for around CNY 200. Bianhe Street next to the tower sells souvenirs during the day, with people displaying Junshan Silver Needle tea and Yueyang fans. At night, a row of lanterns lights up, making it a great place for a stroll. There are a few things about tickets and boats that are easy to overlook, so take note. I recall the ticket price is CNY 70, with half-price for students and seniors. If you can recite the entire "Yueyang Tower Record," you can get free admission during certain times, but you must book it on your phone first. The joint ticket for Yueyang Tower and Junshan Island is valid for 2 days, so buy it together if you plan to visit both. Boat schedules depend on the weather. If it's too windy, the ferry stops running. Check the weather forecast before you leave, and ask the staff at the pier if it's operating before you head to the island. The stone paths on the island are slippery after rain, so don't wear shoes with hard soles. There are also sightseeing carts on Junshan Island for CNY 20 round-trip; you can take one if you want to save energy. Before I go, I'll add a couple of tips based on my own mistakes. The free admission for reciting "Yueyang Tower Record" is limited by time slots and quotas. Don't assume you can just show up and recite it to get in. Check the booking page on your phone the day before you leave to make sure there are still spots available before you head out. Get to the tower early; if you go up before 9:00 AM, you generally won't have to squeeze in with tour groups. In the afternoon, the light hits at an angle, which is better for photographing the lake from the tower. I stayed too long to watch the sunset, and when I looked at the stairs to go down, they were narrow and dark. I had to hold onto the railing and take it one step at a time to reach the bottom. If you're traveling with seniors or children, please be careful. The ferry service depends on the weather and stops if it's too windy, so don't make your itinerary too tight. Leave half a day of flexibility so you won't be stressed.

Attraction Overview Located in Jiayi Town, Pingjiang County, Yueyang, Hunan, Lianyun Mountain Grand Canyon is nestled in the embrace of the Luoxiao Mountains. With high vegetation coverage, the average summer temperature is 6–8°C lower than in the city, making it a true natural air-conditioned retreat. The canyon features thrilling rafting, serene and primitive forests, and unique geological landscapes. Whether you are a thrill-seeking youth or a family looking for a leisurely stroll, you can find a comfortable way to enjoy it. 🚗 Transportation Guide 🔹 Group Tours: Book a local one-day tour directly from Changsha. They will arrange an air-conditioned tour bus to take you directly to the attraction entrance, so you don't have to worry about the route. This is suitable for those who don't want to drive. 🔹 Self-driving: From Changsha, take the Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway heading north. Exit at the Yueyang Pingjiang/Miluo exit. After exiting, turn right onto Pingwu Highway. Drive to the Pingjiang County roundabout, turn left onto Tianyue Avenue, turn right at the third roundabout onto Liujiatan Bridge, and drive towards Shiniuzhai. After reaching Sanshi, turn right and pass through Shuangkou to reach the Xianchong intersection. Then, turn right onto the concrete road to reach the attraction directly. The whole trip takes about 2.5 hours, and the road conditions are good. 🎫 Tickets & Opening Hours Ticket prices range from ¥95 to ¥368 depending on the activity. A single ticket for canyon hiking is about ¥95, and a full-course rafting package is about ¥368. You can choose according to your needs. Opening hours in summer are 8:00 AM–5:30 PM. It is recommended to book one day in advance via the official WeChat account or an online travel platform to avoid queuing on-site. Discount policies: Students with a student ID and seniors with an ID card can enjoy half-price discounts. Children under 1.2 meters are exempt from the hiking ticket. 🗺️ Recommended Route I recommend following the attraction's walking trail in this order: Entrance → Xinghou Mountain → Shengui Shangshan → Luoxiao Earth Fissure → Lurong Ancient Realm → Lianyun Mountain Grand Canyon Rafting Exit. The whole route takes about 2 hours, which is just right—not rushed and not tiring. Start by exploring the forest attractions to slowly adapt to the temperature, and finish with rafting to cool down. It's a perfect experience, and you won't miss any must-visit spots. 📸 Must-visit Photo Spots 1️⃣ Luoxiao Earth Fissure Entrance: Shoot upwards at the cliffs on both sides of the canyon with a sliver of sky light. It comes with a natural filter and looks great in photos 2️⃣ Shengui Shangshan Viewing Platform: Take a bird's-eye view of the lush green forest in the entire canyon. The wide field of view is perfect for panoramic shots 3️⃣ Rafting Starting Drop: Ask a friend to help capture the moment you rush down the rafting drop. It's dynamic and cool ⚠️ Tips to Avoid Pitfalls 1️⃣ For rafting, be sure to bring a clean set of clothes to change into, including underwear and socks. You will definitely get soaked after getting in the water 2️⃣ Try to arrive before 10:00 AM or after 2:00 PM to avoid the midday sun and the peak rafting hours, so you don't have to queue 3️⃣ The cheap water guns sold at the entrance are of poor quality and break easily. You can bring your own foldable one, which is more convenient 4️⃣ There are many mosquitoes and insects on the canyon trails. Be sure to spray mosquito repellent in advance so you don't get bitten all over your legs 🍜 Local Food Drive 15 minutes from the attraction to Jiayi Town and be sure to try the local "Pingjiang Three Delicacies": Pingjiang dried bean curd with sauce, Pingjiang dried bean curd, and Pingjiang crispy tripe. They are salty, fragrant, and go great with rice. The "Jiayi Local Restaurant" in town makes a very authentic Three Delicacies platter at an affordable price; you can get full for about ¥50 per person. If you want snacks, you must try the fried dried bean curd from the roadside stalls—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and super fragrant when sprinkled with chili powder. 💡 Practical Information The best season to visit is summer; it's so comfortable to escape the heat and play in the water. The recommended duration is about 2 hours; if you go rafting, allow for 3 hours. For clothing, wear comfortable sneakers for walking the trails. For rafting, quick-dry clothing is more convenient. Remember to use sunscreen and bring a waterproof bag for your phone. Rafting is not recommended for children under 1.2 meters. When hiking, be sure to hold children's hands and keep them on the path.

#epictravelmoments 🐉 Okay, be honest with me. How many of you actually know who Qu Yuan is? Because before I visited his hometown in Zigui, Yichang, Hubei, I honestly had zero idea this man even existed. And now? He's one of the reasons I'll never forget that trip. Let me explain. So picture this: I'm wandering through Qu Yuan's Hometown Scenic Area on a drizzly afternoon, surrounded by these lush green hills and the Xiangxi River quietly flowing below. The air smells like rain and bamboo — very peaceful, very cinematic. I'm walking past ancient pavilions and stone carvings telling stories of China's first great poet, and I'm thinking, "This is nice, but it's just a historical site, right?" Wrong. SO wrong. I reached the Qu Yuan Temple near the riverbank, and there was a local uncle doing a traditional rice dumpling-making demonstration for a small group. He caught me staring and just handed me one, warm and wrapped in bamboo leaves. No English, no touristy nonsense — just a kind old man sharing food. Then I read the plaque about Qu Yuan throwing himself into the Miluo River out of love for his country, and honestly? I got emotional standing there with a sticky rice dumpling in my hand. That contrast — simple kindness meeting deep history — that's what made this an epic travel moment for me. The Dragon Boat Festival vibes here are REAL. The energy, the culture, the pride locals have for their heritage — it's infectious. You don't just observe history here; you feel it. Now I'm curious — has anyone else stumbled upon a destination that completely changed how they understood a piece of history? Or better yet, what's the most unexpected place that made you emotional while traveling? Tell me everything! 👇🏯

Because of one person, I traveled to a city. Because of Yi Yangqianxi, I set off on a journey to Huaihua, Hunan, and unexpectedly discovered the quietly historic Hongjiang Ancient Commercial Town, which has stood for a thousand years. Unlike those popular ancient towns crowded with tourists, it retains the purest taste of western Hunan. Even better, admission is free throughout August! If you’re planning a cost-effective escape, be sure to save this comprehensive guide. 🏛️ Step back into the “Southwest Wall Street” Entering the ancient town, over 380 Ming and Qing dynasty cellar houses are arranged in an orderly yet charming way. The bluestone paths stretch beneath your feet, instantly transporting you to an era bustling with merchants. This place was once the prosperous “Pearl of Western Hunan,” known as the “Southwest Wall Street.” It’s recommended to enter through the “Hongjiang Ancient Commercial Town” archway at the visitor center and freely explore the maze-like alleys. Along the way, you’ll pass attractions like the Qing dynasty tax office (Lijin Bureau), the Loyalty Escort Agency, Hongjiang Newspaper Office, and the Xu Fulong Trading Company (showcasing tung oil trade). If you have time, hiring a guide to share fascinating merchant stories will elevate your experience several levels. 🎆 Midsummer celebration “August every day fun” At night in August, the ancient town launches the “Midsummer cool nights · thousand-year commercial town” night tour. At the Half Copper Coin Square and the Misty Rain Hongjiang district, you’ll find traditional heritage parades, trendy Chinese music, light and shadow performances, and other special shows taking turns. The lights of Hongjiang at night add a charming, lively atmosphere beyond the daytime scene. 🏨 Stay in the scenery: Huxiang Mingju To fully experience the ancient town, staying overnight is highly recommended. We stayed at Huxiang Mingju, located in the heart of the town. It’s a new Chinese-style Zen guesthouse converted from an old residence. The exterior is a quaint historic building, but inside features fully smart modern facilities. Some rooms offer river and mountain views. In the morning, before the tourists arrive, enjoying the cool, quiet ancient town alone feels amazing. 🍜 Must-try Hongjiang flavors Hongjiang’s cuisine carries the boldness and spiciness of western Hunan, with affordable prices and no touristy pretenses. · Hongjiang blood duck: Known as the “number one dish of western Hunan.” The blood cake made from duck blood and glutinous rice is crispy outside and sticky inside, with richly flavored duck meat. Recommended at Liao’s Wharf. · Two-in-one dry rice noodles: Alkaline noodles mixed with coarse noodles, topped with richly sauced Hongjiang fried duck bits. Only 15 yuan a bowl, pure carb happiness. · Rice tofu: Served with western Hunan’s signature spicy chili oil, sour and appetizing. · Also worth trying are local snacks like soup dumplings, lantern cakes, and Yuangjiang river snails. 📝 Practical travel tips · Transportation: High-speed trains arrive at Huaihua South Station or Anjiang East Station. Take a taxi from the station to the ancient town. Driving nearby is also convenient. · Touring advice: The bluestone roads inside the town are uneven, so wear comfortable sneakers. In summer, shady alleys have many mosquitoes, so bring insect repellent. · Nearby attractions: If you have extra time, visit the Quzi Temple (Jiang Pavilion) and the retro industrial-style photo spot “Fanghua Era.” This August, while the sun is shining and free admission is still available, come to Hongjiang Ancient Commercial Town for a thousand-year appointment. Before the crowds arrive, enjoy your own quiet and profound memory of western Hunan.

Tianyue Mufu Mountain: One foot in three provinces, a sea of clouds surging beneath the cliffside walkway Just stepping out of the cable car station, the mountain breeze, carrying the scent of pine needles, rushes towards you. A Taoist priest in a robe offers a cup of wild chrysanthemum tea: "This mountain is the 'Eastern Mausoleum' of Fuxi, the legendary Chinese ancestor. If you stand on its peak and urinate, the urine will flow into the lands of Hunan, Hubei, and Jiangxi provinces." ⛰ One Peak: Clouds from three provinces drift here At the 1596-meter summit, the boundary marker shines from countless footsteps. Someone stands with one foot on the Hunan border and the other on tiptoe on the Hubei border, holding their phone towards the Jiangxi border to photograph the sea of clouds—the clouds, like crumpled white silk, flow slowly beneath their feet. Suddenly, a cloud cluster breaks open, revealing villages at the junction of the three provinces below, like chess pieces scattered on a green velvet cloth. "Look at that mountain ridge," the guide pointed into the distance, "the trees on the left are from Hunan, the rocks on the right are from Hubei, and that cluster of red maples on the mountain peak has its roots in the soil of Jiangxi." In late autumn, the whole mountain looks like it's been splashed with red paint, and the leaves of the Japanese maple fall on the boundary marker of the three provinces, making it impossible to tell which province's autumn it is. 🌊 Laolonggou: Boiling Sand Pool is Boiling Water from the Earth's Core Descending into the canyon, the stream at our feet suddenly "boiled." White bubbles rose to the surface of the Boiling Sand Pool, and fine sand churned at the bottom, like a pot of millet porridge that would never be fully cooked. "This is the head of the Miluo River," the old man guarding the pool stirred it with a branch, "there's a hole at the bottom that connects to the earth's core, so it never dries up, even in the driest years. The sand has been boiling for thousands of years, and it's still hot." While tracing the stream, you can touch smooth pebbles. On one stone, the character "岳" (Yue) is naturally formed; the guide said it's the seal of "Tian Yue" (Heavenly Mountain). Squirrels often dart across the path, startling fallen leaves that drift into the stream and float downstream towards three provinces—"Maybe this leaf will be in a stream in Hubei by the afternoon." 🧗 Cliffside Walkway: Clouds Drill Under Your Arms The walkway, clinging to the rock face, is so narrow at its narrowest point that only one person can pass sideways. Holding onto the iron chains and looking down, the sea of clouds rolls 300 meters below. A cloud cluster crashes against the rock wall, turning into mist that splashes onto your face. "When the French team came to build it, they called it a 'roller coaster in the clouds,'" the safety officer said with a smile, pointing to the distance, "That 'via ferrata' climbing point allows you to touch the rocks of Hunan, stand on the cliffs of Jiangxi, and hold onto the iron chains of Hubei." The jungle trekking project is hidden in the primeval forest. Tourists wearing safety ropes swing from tree to tree, their screams startling the red-billed leiothrixes in the branches. The zipline at the highest point spans two provinces, starting from the trees in Hunan and gliding swiftly to the platform in Hubei. The wind howls in your ears, and the maple forest below resembles a burning fire. 🍵 Mountain Top Tea: A Sip of Fog from the Border of Three Provinces The Taoist temple is filled with the aroma of tea at dusk. The Taoist priest brews tea with water from a boiling sand pool, and tiny droplets of mist float in the tea soup. "This tea is picked from the slopes where three provinces meet," he points out the window, "It's touched by the dew of Hunan in the morning, basked in the sun of Hubei at noon, and inhaled the fog of Jiangxi in the evening. Taking a sip is like swallowing the essence of three provinces." At the restaurants at the foot of the mountain, the must-order is "Three Provinces in One Pot": Hunan cured pork, Hubei dried bamboo shoots, and Jiangxi rice noodles, stewed in one pot, so fragrant it could attract the macaques from the mountains. The owner said, "People who come here forget which province they're from while eating; they only remember the beautiful mountains and waters." Practical Guide · Transportation: From Yueyang, drive 2 hours to Nanjiang Town, then take the "Tianyue Feilong" cable car (50 yuan) directly to the core area; from Changsha High-Speed Railway Station to Yueyang East Station, take a taxi for 1.5 hours (approximately 180 yuan). · Costs: Entrance fee 70 yuan + cable car 50 yuan (combined ticket 120 yuan); jungle trekking varies from 30-100 yuan depending on difficulty; Via Ferrata climbing is 80 yuan per person, offering good value. · Must-Do List: 1. Sunrise at Yifeng Peak: Climb to the summit at 5 am. When the sea of clouds turns golden-red, pour a bottle of water onto the boundary marker and watch the water flow in three directions. 2. Boiled Eggs in the Boiling Sand Pool: Bring a few raw eggs, put them in a net bag, and sink them into the pool. Take them out after 20 minutes; the egg whites will have a sweet aftertaste. 3. Take ethereal photos on the cliffside walkway: Wear light-colored clothing, stand at the most dangerous point of the walkway, and have your companion take photos from below, making it seem as if the sea of clouds is supporting you. - Hidden bonus: Every Saturday, the Taoist temple hosts a free tea party where the Taoist priest teaches the "Three Provinces Breathing Method": inhale while thinking of the mountains of Hunan, exhale while thinking of the water of Hubei, and hold your breath while thinking of the clouds of Jiangxi. On the way down the mountain, the cable car pierces through the clouds, and the red maple leaves flash by outside the window. The Taoist priest's words suddenly echo in your ears: "This mountain doesn't care which province you're from; once you come, you're a guest." Have you ever tried "stepping into multiple provinces with one foot"? Was it shouting on the mountaintop or picking up stones by the stream? Let's chat in the comments!

As the scroll unfolds, it intoxicates the soul, washing away worldly cares. Gently reciting those flowing verses is like a mountain stream cascading over green stones, a forest breeze rustling through branches; each word carries its own rhythm, each sound resonates deep within the heart, and joy ripples gently with the fragrance of ink. Before one's eyes unfolds a magnificent scroll of mountains and rivers; in one's ears lingers the timeless elegance of classical music; and within one's heart surges a deep-seated patriotism. The joys and sorrows of humanity, the sedimentation of time, hidden between the lines, are a masterpiece of tenderness and integrity, captivating the heart and soul, leaving one mesmerized. The beauty of classical poetry is imbued with tender affection and harbors a romantic pursuit. "The reeds are green, the dew is white as frost. The one I long for is on the other side of the water." Autumn waters flow, reeds grow tall, frost covers the banks, a thin mist veils the scene, and the beloved stands in the middle of the water, her shadow indistinct, like a dream. We wander along the lines of poetry, stepping into this ethereal and profound realm, embarking on a tender pursuit that is both desirable and unattainable. Our hearts fall into the unique, hazy love of classical poetry, unwilling to awaken. There is also the poignant and delicate expression of human longing: "My clothes grow looser, yet I have no regrets, for I am wasting away for her." And there is the bittersweet expression of unrequited love: "Though we lack the wings of a phoenix to fly together, our hearts are connected by a single thread of understanding." This hazy love, unique to classical poetry, allows us, a thousand years later, to still empathize with its purity and unwavering devotion. The emotions in classical poetry reveal the great righteousness of family and country, and stubbornly uphold an indomitable spirit. "The road ahead is long and arduous, but I will persevere in my pursuit." On the banks of the Miluo River, Qu Yuan's long sigh, transcending a thousand years, still resonates powerfully. His dedication to the rise and fall of his nation, his unwavering commitment to righteousness, his refusal to regret even in the face of slander and alienation, his fervent and profound patriotism, and his steadfast adherence to his original aspirations have long been forged into the blood of the Chinese nation, transforming into the indomitable spirit of the nation, shining brightly in the long river of time. "The wind howls, the Yi River is cold, the hero departs, never to return." On the banks of the Yi River, the cold wind howls, and a mournful song echoes. This cry, a hero's resolute decision to die, a vow of chivalrous responsibility, resonates through the ages, becoming an eternal ode etched in the blood of the Chinese people, fully expressing the chivalrous righteousness and unwavering patriotism amidst chaos. The scenery depicted in classical poetry beautifully captures the essence of the four seasons and the magnificence of the landscape. In spring, strolling along the shores of West Lake, a warm breeze caresses the face, and new life sprouts from the grass and trees. The vivid scene described by Bai Juyi, "Several early orioles vie for warm branches, and new swallows peck at spring mud," unfolds before your eyes. The warbling of orioles and the chirping of swallows are like pearls falling on jade; before your eyes, willows sway like smoke, their green shadows dancing; to your nose, the fragrance of earth fills the air, refreshing and invigorating. Every step reveals a new vista, a breathtaking panorama of spring. Even reading it a thousand times, one's joy remains undiminished. In summer, admiring the lotus blossoms, boating on West Lake in June, the lotus breeze carries their fragrance, and the shimmering water reflects Yang Wanli's line, "The lotus leaves stretch to the sky, an endless expanse of green; the lotus blossoms, bathed in sunlight, are a vibrant red," perfectly capturing the ultimate splendor of West Lake in midsummer. Endless lotus leaves stretch to the horizon, their green hue merging with the clear sky; the warm sun shines down, and the lotus blossoms stand tall and graceful, delicate and beautiful, like fairies on the water, their red and green hues contrasting brilliantly, showcasing the gentle yet vibrant beauty of summer in Jiangnan. Seeking tranquility in autumn, I followed the secluded stone path, where "a winding path leads to a secluded spot, where a Zen room is nestled among flowers and trees," ascending the mountainside. The forests were lush and verdant, the flowers and trees abundant, and a sense of Zen pervaded the air. Before my eyes, the once-prosperous incense of the "Four Hundred and Eighty Temples of the Southern Dynasties" seemed to appear. Those magnificent temples, shimmering amidst the green hills and clear waters, were like a fairyland. "How many pavilions and terraces are shrouded in mist and rain?" With the passage of time and the changing dynasties, the former glory has become a thing of the past. Countless pavilions and terraces are now hidden in the misty rain, leaving only a sense of historical vicissitude and melancholy. "The swallows that once graced the halls of the Wang and Xie families now fly into the homes of ordinary people," a sentiment that evokes a sigh for the impermanence of life and the vicissitudes of time. In winter, admiring the plum blossoms, I strolled leisurely through Lin Bu's small garden. The serene beauty of "sparse shadows slanting across the clear, shallow water, a faint fragrance drifting in the twilight" quietly embraced me. As twilight deepens and the moonlight softens, plum branches slant, their graceful silhouettes delicate and elegant. A subtle fragrance drifts on the breeze, serene and refreshing, soothing the soul. The plum blossoms, pure and refined, noble and dignified, bloom alone in the tranquil twilight, captivating the eye and drawing one to gaze upon them, reluctant to disturb their solitary beauty, and instantly comprehending their noble character: "Not seeking praise for their color, but leaving only their pure fragrance to fill the universe." If one stands by a river and gazes into the distance, the scene of "A lone sail disappears into the azure sky, only the Yangtze River flows to the horizon" comes vividly to mind. Distant sails dot the blue sky, while the river surges and flows ceaselessly, its vastness and power unstoppable, winding its way towards the horizon. Looking further at the Yellow River, "The Yellow River's waters come from the heavens, rushing to the sea never to return," its waters cascading from the heavens, flowing a thousand miles eastward, surging into the sea—a magnificent and awe-inspiring sight. The majestic and grand scenery of "The Yellow River winds nine times, its sands stretching ten thousand miles, waves tossed and turned by the winds from the ends of the earth" vividly portrays the imposing power of China's mountains and rivers. Climbing to the summit of Mount Tai, overlooking the surrounding mountains, one is struck by the breathtaking grandeur of "Nature's masterpiece, dividing day and night." North and south of the mountain, dawn and dusk are clearly distinguished, a scene poets have painted with their magical brushes. Standing atop the mountain, one can truly appreciate the vastness of heaven and earth, the magnificence of nature, and feel a surge of ambition, like the line, "I will climb to the highest peak and survey all the mountains below." Traversing the northern frontier, the spectacular sight of "A lone plume of smoke rises straight from the desert, the setting sun is round over the long river" unfolds before one's eyes. A wisp of smoke rises sharply and straight, winding above the long river, while the round setting sun casts its afterglow, outlining the unique openness, grandeur, and desolate magnificence of the frontier. This unique beauty of the northern frontier—its resilient strength, its bold and unrestrained spirit—evokes longing and haunts the soul. "The desert sands are like snow, the Yanshan moon like a hook," perfectly captures the harmonious blend of strength and gentleness in the northern frontier. Entering the world of poetry is like entering a soul-searching journey across millennia. Enter its elegance and gentleness, feel its tenderness; enter its grandeur and tragedy, understand its indomitable spirit; enter its magnificence and vastness, appreciate the grandeur of mountains and rivers; enter its seasons, savor the elegance of each. Entering the world of poetry, even amidst the mundane world, one's heart will be imbued with its warmth and spirit, living with sincerity, composure, and openness, experiencing the tranquil peace of "picking chrysanthemums by the eastern fence, gazing leisurely at the southern mountains." Wandering through the pages, one is captivated, the worldly cares forgotten. Gently reciting those flowing verses is like a mountain stream flowing over green stones, a forest breeze brushing against branches; each word carries its own rhythm, each sound resonates in the heart, and the joy within ripples gently with the fragrance of ink. Before my eyes unfolds a magnificent scroll of mountains and rivers; in my ears lingers the timeless melody of ancient Chinese music; and within my heart surges a deep-seated love for my country and its people. The joys and sorrows of humanity, the sedimentation of time, hidden between the lines, are a masterpiece of tenderness and integrity, captivating and enchanting the soul. The beauty of classical poetry is imbued with tender affection and harbors a romantic pursuit. "The reeds are green, the dew is white as frost. The one I long for is on the other side of the water." Autumn waters flow, reeds grow tall, frost covers the banks, a thin mist veils the scene, and the beloved stands in the middle of the water, indistinct and dreamlike. And there are lines that poignantly express the bittersweet pain of unrequited love: "Though we lack the wings of a phoenix to fly together, our hearts are connected by a single thread of understanding." This unique, hazy love found only in classical poetry allows us, a thousand years later, to still empathize with its purity and unwavering devotion. The emotions expressed in classical poetry highlight the great righteousness of family and country, and stubbornly embody an indomitable spirit. In spring, strolling along the shores of Qiantang Lake, a warm breeze caresses the face, new grasses sprout, and the vivid scene described by Bai Juyi, "Several early orioles vie for warm branches, whose new swallows peck at spring mud," unfolds before your eyes. The warbling of orioles and the chirping of swallows are like pearls falling on jade; before your eyes, willows are shrouded in mist, their green shadows swaying; to your nose, the fragrance of earth is refreshing. Every step reveals a new vista, the spring scenery intoxicating. Even reading it a thousand times, one will never tire of it. In summer, one can admire the lotus blossoms, boating on West Lake in June. The fragrant breeze carries the scent of lotus, and the water ripples gently. Yang Wanli's line, "The lotus leaves stretch to the sky, an endless expanse of green; the lotus blossoms, bathed in sunlight, are a vibrant red," perfectly captures the ultimate splendor of West Lake in midsummer. The boundless lotus leaves extend to the horizon, their green hue merging with the clear sky; the warm sun shines down, and the lotus blossoms stand tall and graceful, delicate and beautiful, like fairies dancing on the water. The red and green hues complement each other, creating a vibrant and lively scene, showcasing the gentle yet energetic nature of summer in Jiangnan. In autumn, one can seek tranquility, following the secluded stone path described as "a winding path leading to a secluded spot, where a Zen room is surrounded by flowers and trees." The mountain forest is lush and verdant, with abundant flowers and trees, exuding a sense of Zen. One can almost see the once-prosperous incense burning brightly in the "four hundred and eighty temples of the Southern Dynasties." The magnificent temple, nestled amidst green hills and clear waters, appears and disappears like a fairyland; "How many pavilions and terraces are shrouded in mist and rain," as the saying goes, with the passage of time and the rise and fall of dynasties, the former glory has become a thing of the past. Countless pavilions and terraces are hidden in the hazy rain, leaving only a sense of historical vicissitude and melancholy. "The swallows that once graced the halls of the Wang and Xie families now fly into the homes of ordinary people," which makes one sigh at the impermanence of life and feel the vicissitudes of time. In winter, strolling leisurely through Lin Bu's small garden to admire the plum blossoms, the serene beauty of "sparse shadows slant across the clear, shallow water, a faint fragrance drifts in the twilight" quietly enters one's heart. The twilight deepens, the moonlight is soft, the plum branches slant, their graceful shadows sparse and elegant. Wisps of fragrance drift on the wind, quiet and refined, refreshing the soul. The plum blossom, with its pure and elegant form, noble and dignified, blooms alone in the tranquil twilight, captivating the eye and drawing one to its beauty. One hesitates to disturb its solitary and serene beauty, suddenly understanding its noble character: "It doesn't need praise for its color, but only its pure fragrance fills the universe." If one stands by a river and gazes into the distance, the scene of "A lone sail disappears into the azure sky, only the Yangtze River flows to the horizon" comes vividly to mind. Distant sails dot the blue sky, while the river surges and flows ceaselessly, its vastness and power immense, winding its way towards the horizon. Looking further at the Yellow River, "The Yellow River's waters come from the heavens, rushing to the sea never to return," its waters cascading from the heavens, flowing a thousand miles eastward, surging into the sea—a magnificent and awe-inspiring sight. The majestic grandeur of "The Yellow River winds nine times, its sands stretching ten thousand miles, waves tossed and turned by the wind from the ends of the earth" fully displays the imposing power of China's mountains and rivers. Climbing to the summit of Mount Tai, overlooking the surrounding mountains, one is overwhelmed by the majestic grandeur of nature's creation, where "yin and yang divide day and night." North and south of the mountain, dawn and dusk are distinctly separated, a scene poets have captured with their magical brushstrokes. Standing atop the mountain, one can truly appreciate the vastness of heaven and earth, the magnificence of nature, and feel a surge of ambition, like the line, "I will climb to the highest peak and survey all the mountains below." Traversing the northern frontier, the spectacular sight of "a lone plume of smoke rises straight from the desert, the setting sun is round over the long river" unfolds before you. A wisp of smoke rises sharply, winding across the long river, while the round setting sun casts its afterglow, outlining the unique openness, grandeur, and desolate beauty of the northern frontier. This unique beauty of the northern frontier—its strength, resilience, and unrestrained spirit—evokes longing and haunts the soul. "The desert sands are like snow, the moon over Yanshan is like a hook," perfectly capturing the harmonious blend of strength and gentleness in the northern land. Entering the realm of poetry is entering a soul-searching journey across millennia. Step into its elegance and gentleness, and feel its tenderness; step into its grandeur and tragedy, and experience its noble spirit; step into its magnificence and vastness, and appreciate the grandeur of its landscape; step into its spring, summer, autumn, and winter, and savor the elegance of each season. Step into poetry, and even if you live in the mundane world, your heart will surely be touched by its warmth and spirit, allowing you to live sincerely, calmly, freely, and openly, experiencing the leisurely tranquility of "picking chrysanthemums by the eastern fence, gazing leisurely at the southern mountains."
