JR Mihara Station, Hiroshima. I had a "Pudding Cream Bread" at "Mihara Pudding", which has a large event space inside the station. I stopped by for a transfer, and wondered what "Mihara Pudding" was, so I bought one. When I looked at the website... The definition of "Hiroshima Mihara Pudding" is "a pudding made by a person (store) who supports Mihara using at least one ingredient from Mihara." In addition to sweet puddings, they also have savory puddings (delica puddings) like chawanmushi that use ingredients from Mihara. I thought I would be able to find an interesting pudding if I looked around, but it was time to transfer, so I tried the "Pudding Cream Bread" this time. From "Mihara Station" in the west to "Onomichi Station" in the east, you often see trains bound for "Itosaki Station" when sightseeing in Hiroshima. "Itosaki Station" has a strong presence as a major transfer station for Hiroshima's conventional lines. The station is simply built, and looking around the station... There is nothing particularly conspicuous, except for a road with frequent traffic in front of the station that runs parallel to the tracks. It seems like a station where you can wait for time to pass even if you have to wait to transfer to a train. If you have a long wait to get to your next destination, it might be a good idea to use it as a station to use the restroom! The scenery along the tracks between Itosaki and Onomichi is a beautiful coastline, so don't forget to take good care of your camera here. I recommend that you keep a "seat by the sea" when transferring here to Onomichi. I recently took a short trip to Hiroshima flying out of Cheongju International Airport! My main itinerary included the Atomic Bomb Dome, Hiroshima Castle, Shukkeien (a Japanese garden), and Miyajima (Itsukushima) Island! I was especially excited to visit since it was peak cherry blossom season. Unfortunately, it rained for 3 out of my 5 days there, so I missed out on seeing the blossoms in full bloom. However, it was still a deeply meaningful trip in many ways. Compared to Osaka and Tokyo, there are noticeably fewer tourists, and it felt like Westerners made up about 80% of the foreign visitors! I think I saw even more Western tourists here than I did in Tokyo! Because of this, most restaurants accommodate English speakers. If you speak English, traveling around Hiroshima will be incredibly easy and enjoyable! Here are a few tips from my experience: If you're not planning to explore the outskirts, a 3-day, 2-night trip (including Miyajima Island) is plenty of time. However, if you plan to visit Senkoji, Onomichi, or the Saijo Sake Brewery Street, you'll definitely want to give yourself a few extra days! Also, most of the best restaurants and attractions are packed within a 5km radius of the Atomic Bomb Dome. I highly recommend mapping out your itinerary and must-visit dining spots first, then booking a hotel centrally located to your plans!

#winterescape #Buttsuji #hiroshima I visited Buttsuji, and it was one of the most peaceful and visually stunning autumn trips I’ve experienced in Hiroshima. Located about one hour by bus from Mihara, it makes for a perfect half-day escape into nature. The journey itself is relaxing, passing through quiet countryside scenery that slowly prepares you for the calm atmosphere of the temple. One important thing to note is that the last return bus is around 3:00 PM (at least at the time I visited), so careful planning is necessary. It’s best to check the bus schedule in advance and start your trip early in the morning. Since buses are not very frequent, missing the last one could cause inconvenience. I visited during Momiji season, and the view was absolutely breathtaking. The maple leaves were at their peak, covering the temple grounds in brilliant shades of red, orange, and yellow. The historic wooden buildings of the temple stood beautifully among the colorful trees, creating a perfect harmony between nature and tradition. Every path I walked felt like stepping into a living painting. The fallen leaves blanketed the ground, and when the sunlight filtered through the branches, the entire area seemed to glow. The peaceful environment, the crisp autumn air, and the quiet spiritual atmosphere made the experience unforgettable. If you love autumn scenery and tranquil temples, Buttsuji during Momiji season is definitely worth visiting, just be sure to plan your return bus carefully.

Located near Hiroshima Airport, the Hattendo Factory Tour is a must-visit destination for family trips! For just 1,000 yen, you can enjoy a hands-on bread-making experience and a VR factory tour, plus receive a complimentary Hattendo signature cream bun—what a great deal! Remember to book in advance. Children can create animal-shaped or other creative bread designs using dough, decorate them with chocolate pens, and bake them to perfection. It's an educational and entertaining activity that both kids and adults can enjoy together. The VR technology also provides an in-depth look at the factory processes, making it both fun and educational. The staff can speak basic English, so language barriers won't be an issue. The classroom is very clean, and you can even taste your freshly made bread on the spot! Best of all, the factory is just a 5-minute drive from Hiroshima Airport, making it super convenient. It's about a 10-15 minute walk. Car Take the Mihara Bypass and get off near Nakanomachi IC. It's easy to find, as you'll see a large torii gate nearby. Takimiya Shrine enshrines several deities, including Susanoo-no-Mikoto. Founded long ago, originally called "Sakuramiya" and later renamed "Takimiya," this historic shrine has attracted local worshippers since ancient times. It often hosts annual festivals and other annual events, strongly reflecting local traditions.

About a 17-minute walk from Hiroshima Airport is Hattendo Village, the factory of Hattendo, famous for its melt-in-your-mouth cream buns. I had a little time before check-in, so I walked there. I arrived around 3 PM and was hoping to get the limited-edition Setouchi lemon, but unfortunately it was sold out. I bought the seasonal chestnut instead. You can also buy it at Tokyo Station, but perhaps because it was freshly made, it tasted even better than usual. lol Hiroshima Airport is in a rather tricky location, so it can be hard to kill time if you arrive early, but I recommend this place. ✨ They also had drinks available for eat-in!
