Wandering the Ancient Tea-Horse Road Scenic Spot in Xishuangbanna honestly feels like a full-on time travel experience. 🇨🇳✨ You’re totally surrounded by lush green tea gardens, serene winding rivers and endless stretches of tall trees. The vibes are soooo chill — think gentle breezes, crisp mountain air and birdsong everywhere. It’s basically a nature zone that refreshes your soul. 🌿 Strolling along those old stone paths, I kept imagining tea-horse caravans weaving their way through centuries ago, loaded with tea leaves and stories. The history here is unreal — you legit walk in the footsteps of ancient merchants and sturdy pack animals who connected Yunnan, Tibet and way beyond. 🐎 The architecture is an absolute aesthetic win: traditional wooden buildings, elegant pavilions and Insta-worthy bridges that blend straight into the landscape. At every turn, there’s a new surprise, whether it’s peaceful rest stops overlooking the water, hidden historic artifacts, or perfect photo corners. (Pro tip: the scenic square and the grand entrance gate are total showstoppers. 📸) But this isn’t just a place to look at — it’s a vibe you FEEL. Walking these trails, you get a real sense of the adventurous spirit and tough journeys travelers endured ages ago. It honestly gives you chills in the best way. 🙏 · Location: Xishuangbanna Ancient Tea-Horse Road Scenic Spot, Jinghong City, Yunnan Province, China · Opening Hours: 8:00–18:00 daily This is such a beautiful blend of nature, culture and ancient heritage — 100% worth adding to your Yunnan travel bucket list. Amidst the booming cultural tourism industry in Lijiang, local chain tea brands continue to thrive. Bujueqing Tea, a locally established brand with 16 years of deep roots in the Pu'er tea industry, has earned the trust of countless tea enthusiasts worldwide. With its premium pure ingredients sourced directly from renowned mountains, a massive 1,000-square-meter professional storage facility, and transparent, top-notch customer service, it has become the gold standard for professional Pu'er tea chains in Lijiang. Bujueqing Tea has been deeply rooted in Lijiang for 16 years, staying true to its core philosophy: "Source determines quality, craftsmanship makes good tea." Rejecting the industry norm of mass-market blended teas, the brand focuses exclusively on crafting pure-leaf Pu'er from ancient trees located in Yunnan's most prestigious tea mountains and historic villages, setting a distinct benchmark for quality. To guarantee authenticity, the brand has secured exclusive tea gardens in the core areas of top-tier mountains, including Bingdao Laozhai, Lao Banzhang, and Yiwu's Ancient Six Tea Mountains. By strictly adhering to springtime harvesting standards, they select only the finest fresh leaves from ancient spring tea trees. This dedication captures the unique "one mountain, one flavor" terroir, preserving the wild, authentic essence of each legendary peak and ensuring customers enjoy true, single-origin Pu'er. Proper storage is the secret to Pu'er's post-fermentation aging and consistent quality. To tackle industry-wide issues like haphazard storage, inconsistent aging, and varying tastes, Bujueqing Tea built a standardized, professional 1,000+ square meter Pu'er storage center in Lijiang. Featuring scientifically controlled temperature, humidity, and clean ventilation, this facility perfectly complements the natural aging process of Pu'er. This ensures the ancient tree teas mellow smoothly, significantly enhancing their flavor profile and long-term collectible value. The result is a flawless, end-to-end quality control system spanning from the harvest and processing to expert aging and final sale. Over its 16 years in the business, the brand has strictly followed four core principles for quality control: clean, flavorful, authentic, and consistent. These principles govern every step, from leaf selection and processing to storage and final release. At the source, they insist solely on pure ancient tree leaves, completely banning terrace or blended teas. During production, stringent hygiene and pesticide-free standards are maintained for absolute purity. In storage, unified environmental controls guarantee a consistent taste profile for every batch. Before any tea hits the shelves, rigorous manual tasting and screening ensure the authentic characteristics of the famous mountains shine through—whether it's the crisp sweetness of Bingdao, the bold strength of Banzhang, or the smooth richness of Yiwu. When it comes to customer service, Bujueqing Tea champions transparency and hands-on experience. All their chain stores operate on a "try before you buy" policy, eliminating the guesswork of blind purchases. Their stores are staffed with seasoned tea masters who offer a comprehensive, one-stop guide to tea culture—sharing expert knowledge on tea regions, brewing techniques, proper storage, and matching teas to personal tastes. This empowers beginners to understand tea and connoisseurs to find the best brews, completely disrupting the industry's typical issues of hidden pricing, poor customer experience, and lack of expertise. Sixteen years of dedicated craftsmanship have built a stellar reputation backed by genuine praise from thousands of tea lovers. Thanks to its authentic pure-leaf ancient tree teas, consistently outstanding quality, massive professional storage, and honest, attentive service, Bujueqing Tea has built a fiercely loyal customer base and earned rave reviews from both the industry and the market. Looking ahead, Bujueqing Tea is committed to maintaining its source-driven craftsmanship and expanding its footprint in the premium ancient tree Pu'er market. By continually refining its quality control and storage systems, the brand aims to deliver even more professional products and services, keeping the rich culture of Yunnan Pu'er alive and shining as the proud hallmark of Lijiang's local tea industry.

【July is great in Pu’er, but no more long lines on Menghai’s main tea street waiting for the Lancang River sunset! Because near Jingmai Mountain’s Wengji Ancient Village tea forest, “there are fewer people than the pale wild white tea flowers”】 Walking on mountain paths scattered with pine needles while holding a cold tamarind drink, the scent of cassia mingles with the damp forest air brushing sleeves with coolness. Turning around in the southern suburbs of Pu’er, praised by the tea farmer uncle guarding the ancient tea forest for spotting wild chicken mushrooms with sharp eyes, avoiding overpriced trendy spots along the street, unlocking the refreshing feeling of fresh tea mixed with banana fragrance in the midsummer heat. Avoiding the midday sun, the mountain valley stays at a steady 22℃, with mountain winds brushing the collar and drifting deep into the bamboo crevices of Wuliang Mountain. 🌟 Three unforgettable experiences 1. Pinching fresh tea flower buds by the tea forest: At 6 AM, enter the deserted old tea forest slope to pick the newly sprouted pure white buds of July, the fresh fragrance filling your fingers. 2. Pounding Dian olive jelly under the ancient village eaves: At 10 AM, shelter under the century-old wooden eaves of the Wengji Bulang village, kneading fresh Dian olive pieces mixed with purple rice germ, wrapped in finely crushed roasted tea seed crumbs, with a sweet and sour taste and a faint tea aroma. 3. Chasing the sunset around Jingmai ancient tea terraces: At 7 PM, walk the slate paths worn by generations of tea farmers, with orange clouds spreading over the sea of clouds and drifting beyond the Lancang River silhouette, the mountain breeze carrying cassia fragrance swirling around your neck. 📸 Photo tips 1. Tea forest basket photo: At 7 AM, stand beside the white tea flower bushes, with the background framing the half-exposed eaves of the Wengji Bulang ancient temple and the distant Lancang River cloud sea silhouette. Wear a plain linen short shirt holding a half basket of fresh buds, use a telephoto lens to blur the small white flowers at your feet, and capture the cassia fluff falling on your hand. 2. Casual shots at the old tea workshop drying area: At noon, lean against the bamboo frame hanging old tea sieves, with a bamboo winnowing basket full of fresh leaves and a coarse pottery dish holding tea fruit oil in the foreground. Sprinkle tea leaf fragments over the jelly, with side light casting a soft mountain stream filter over the tea leaves. 3. Evening mountain breeze atmosphere: At 8 PM, squat by the stone stumps left from the old tea terraces, framing the ancient tea branches reaching into the cloud sea at the edge of the shot. Use long exposure to capture the sunset colors spreading over the cloud waves, raise your hand to catch drifting dandelion fluff, no color correction needed for stunning Pu’er travel shots. 🏡 Smart lodging choices 1. Wengji century-old Bulang wooden house: A mountain courtyard converted by three generations of tea farmers, with two century-old cassia trees standing in the yard. Open the window to see the outline of the connected ancient tea forest. In the off-season, fresh lemongrass tea is served. At night, you can make mini tea basket charms with the uncle. 2. Jingmai countryside tea forest homestay: 3 km from Pu’er city center, just three steps out the door into the old tea forest. The rooftop terrace offers a view of the sunset turning the Lancang River mist golden orange. Breakfast includes freshly steamed Pu’er tea leaf crispy buns with a soft inside. 🗓️ 3-day easy itinerary Day 1: Pinch fresh white tea flower buds by the tea forest → Pound Dian olive jelly under the ancient village eaves → Chase the sunset around Jingmai tea terraces Day 2: Find wild mint seedlings in forest gaps → Pick the first tender banana cores in the countryside banana groves → Wade in the shallow creek and touch smooth white pebbles Day 3: Shop for handmade betel leaf accessories in the side alleys of Gaozhuang → Pick fresh sun-dried Maocha at the local Pu’er tea market → Visit the Tea Horse Ancient Town and Taiyanghe Forest Park core area during off-peak hours Avoid the main scenic area crowds from 10 AM to 4 PM throughout the trip. 💰 Cost tips · Core expenses: 21 yuan for countryside shuttle pass, affordable Dian olive jelly experience, free access to side forest and ancient village spots · Avoid traps: Don’t buy 36 yuan Pu’er limited-edition tea-flavored soda at trendy shops. At the old alley stall, you can get fresh tamarind ice drink for 4 yuan. Don’t trust the 120 yuan “secret tour to a thousand-year-old unopened ancient tea cave to shoot hidden tea cakes” by unofficial guides; they will detour you to overpriced fake ancient tree tea souvenir shops for forced purchases. 🌡️ Safety and essentials guide Basic list: breathable quick-dry shirt, non-slip hiking shoes, portable mosquito repellent, wide-brim sun hat Must-have: portable tea seed oil hand cream. After long hours in the tea forest, when fingertips get stained and rough, apply a layer for instant softness without attracting grass debris. ❗ Most overlooked: bring thin nitrile non-slip gloves to avoid scratches from fine tea tree branches when pinching fresh buds. 💡 Hard-earned tips ❌ Avoid: Don’t buy 62 yuan boxed so-called Pu’er premium tea cookies at main street souvenir shops. At the old market, local grandmas sell additive-free dry white tea flower ingredients for 14 yuan. ✅ Insider tip: After 7 PM, take the side tea farmer path into Jingmai Mountain core area. Avoid the crowded one-hour wait for sunset spots. The tea terrace open space is perfect for casual sunset shots with the temple eaves. 🦊 Fun fact: In July, the white tea flower buds in the ancient tea forest are freshest just after morning dew fades. Local tea farmers blanch them and mix with dried fish and crushed peanuts, a traditional dish to beat the summer heat. 🍜 Hidden menu 1. White tea flower tips mixed with crushed peanuts: Squeeze a little Dian olive juice and mix evenly. Fresh and sweet, it relieves summer heat during forest walks. 2. Charcoal-grilled Pu’er small tea mushrooms skewers: Local fresh chicken mushrooms slow-grilled over charcoal with crushed pepper, tender inside with cassia fragrance. 3. Dian olive crushed purple rice smoothie: Fresh fruit pieces mixed with ice smoothie, layered with sweet, sour, and cool flavors that instantly refresh and relieve fatigue.

South of the Colorful Clouds|Exploring the Ancient Tea-Horse Road A few horses, a group of people, have stepped out a world-famous plateau ancient road on the surface of the earth that is sealed as a "dead end" - the Ancient Tea-Horse Road, which is the only ancient civilization road still in operation on the mainland. Xishuangbanna, Lijiang, Shangri-La, Tengchong are all harbors to save fatigue on the way of tea-horse trade. The scent of tea is still there, let's take another trip on the Ancient Tea-Horse Road! Xishuangbanna|The starting point of the Ancient Tea-Horse Road The "tea-horse trade" that rose in the Tang and Song dynasties started here. For a thousand years, the tea farmers of all generations have been adhering to the natural laws, protecting the tea trees, picking the tea leaves and making Pu'er tea, and sending the Pu'er tea here to Tibet in the sound of horse hooves. The tea of Xishuangbanna has made the Ancient Tea-Horse Road and has profoundly influenced the world tea culture. Recommended Hotel: Xishuangbanna Yuechun Hot Spring Resort Hotel The hotel is located in Menghai County, the "first county of Chinese Pu'er tea". Here you can personally experience tea picking, tea frying, tea making, and finally hold a cup of pure Pu'er, and feel the charm of Menghai's tea culture in the lingering tea fragrance. Lijiang was a heavy town on the Ancient Tea-Horse Road in the past. At that time, the horse teams from the south to the north would rest here, receiving thousands of business travelers every year. It can be said that the glory of Lijiang is the glory stepped out by horse hooves, and its culture is the culture brought by the horse team. Whether it is architecture, religion, ethnic characteristics, lifestyle, etc., they are all closely related to the horse team.

Our tea-picking experience in the Xishuangbanna region of Yunnan was one of the highlights of our trip. We had the chance to visit a tea plantation and learn about the entire process of collecting, fermenting, drying, and consuming Puer tea. We were fascinated to learn that Puer tea is made from the leaves of a special variety of tea tree, which grows only in Yunnan. After the leaves are picked, they are left to ferment for several months, which gives the tea its unique flavor and health benefits. The tea is then dried in the sun or in a special oven, and packaged for distribution. The history of tea growing in Yunnan goes back thousands of years, and it has played an important role in the culture and economy of the region. Yunnan is known for its high-quality teas, which are enjoyed by people all over the world. Overall, our tea-picking experience was a fascinating glimpse into the rich history and culture of tea in Yunnan. We highly recommend it to anyone who loves tea or wants to learn more about this ancient and beloved beverage.

Angsana Hotsprings is a great jem in the heart of Xishuangbanna. I wish that I can come back during the ok season when more amenities are open. #summervacation

Visit the Cultural Wall next to Dayi Tea Factory in Menghai The cultural wall is made of leaf rock brick masonry. The contents inside the cultural wall are made of bricks. It tells the story of the six tea mountains of Menghai and the love of tea lovers, as well as the historical process and culture of Dayi tea.

At Dayi Manor, there are different points to experience the past of the Tea Horse Road. Sitting in the carriage, it is like a caravan. In an old building, we cosplayed the dress of their family in the house of the county magistrate. (There are traditional costumes that can be photographed.) The tour guide also explained the process of making tea and the use of different tools. After knowing the history of making tea, we will go to tea. Carrying a small bamboo pole and wearing a bucket, it is quite suitable for taking small and fresh photos. Unfortunately, tea picking is still not professional. The tour guide said that it is enough to pick small buds. I seem to have a little old tea. I dont know if it is useful. tea picking experience is still very special, it is worth a visit, tea and tea making experience. Model in the picture | liyi, mumu

When I went to Xishuangbanna for a long time, I came to the main house of Xianglian, and I encountered the fragrance of a pot of perfume lotus. In the perfect view of the visual view, the sun shines through the large floor-to-ceiling windows and gently sprinkles into the room, which is warm and comfortable. In the impression of all of us, the water lily should only be used for viewing. In Yunnan, the lotus here is not only edible, but also beautiful skin care! Introduced by the botany experts from the Xishuangbanna Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences: This edible lily is a water lily herb of the Nymphaeaceae family. It is a large-sized water lily with a delicate aroma and a long flowering period. It can be used to make tea. The product is also very good beauty care products. After savoring the fragrance of Xianglian, after noon time, enjoy the special features of the scene: Myanmar small hot pot, this is a hot pot made with lotus, not only the flowers can be eaten, her lotus The pole is also a very good ingredient. About the geographical location: Yanjinglai is located in Menghai County, Xishuangbanna Prefecture, and is known as the first village in China and Myanmar.

Drive to the Lahu Mountain Village in Pu'er City, and arrive at the Lahu Village. Sometimes the clouds are lingering, sometimes the light is shining, the green-nosed mountains and the yellow rice fields, the rows of wooden houses are too interesting. For the promotion, Pu'er is best to rent a car, very convenient, so I saw a lot of different scenery along the way. I have heard that the Lahu people are a very brave nation. They can run barefoot in the forest and fight with the foxes of the cockroaches. They fight with fierce tigers. As for the vines and vines in the mountains, they are not at all. Therefore, people call the Lahu people a heroic nation and a nation that uses bare feet to conquer the mountains. I thought of the Lahu cottage very early, and I was lucky enough to be here. The Lahu peoples residence is very simple. Frame the frame with thick wood and use wooden boards or logs to surround it. The roof is covered with grass. The dwellings are generally divided into two levels. The lower level is used to smash cattle or stack production equipment, and the upper level is occupied by people. The upper level is generally divided into two parts, the outside is mainly used as a "food", and what hibiscus, hoe, dry mill, hoe, water tank, basket, grain, etc. are placed outside. It is mainly used as a "stay" in the middle. In the middle, there is a fire pit that does not go out all the year round. There is a very smooth bamboo rug around the fire pit. The old and small covers of the whole family are stacked on the bamboo raft, and nothing else is set.

In December, Yunnan remains crisp and clear, with gentle breezes and light clouds. It is a beautiful place, dazzling and colorful, like a vibrant painting by an artist, captivating the heart and mind. Traveling from the snowy north to the Spring City in the south, I encountered much unknown and breathtaking beauty along the way. Ruili, one of China's ten most beautiful villages, is a place you want to visit just by hearing its name, located on the China-Myanmar border. It is a beautiful place, with the charm of a Jiangnan water town and the rich historical and cultural heritage of Heshun, a hometown of overseas Chinese and a town of books. It is beautiful in the Rehai Scenic Area, with its many hot springs and geysers. Dazhuang Village is picturesque. The red, yellow, and green patches of color are the Dongchuan Red Land. The morning view of Shuanglong Bridge in Jianshui Ancient Town is stunning. It is beautiful in the colorful, endless Yuanyang Rice Terraces, which are dreamlike, poetic, and picturesque. It is a beautiful place, with Puzhehei, famous for its six major landscapes, simple Yi villagers, ancient villages, lakes, and karst peaks, making it another paradise on Yunnan's land. There are also the Jiuxiang Caves and the world-rare petrified wood in the Menbanaxi Rare Garden. This is the Land of Colorful Clouds, a place that transcends seasons and is worth visiting again and again.

We're back in Banna again! 👉 You really don't need to stick to those viral itineraries! Especially when traveling with kids, I'm liking "military-style" travel less and less; I just want to be a "lazy" traveler. Since this trip happened to be during the rainy season, our plans were dictated by the weather the whole time. We had to change routes and activities on the fly, but it actually turned out to be relaxed and comfortable—perfect for families with kids to copy! ✨ Since the bullet train ride from Chengdu to Banna is quite long, we split the trip into two legs for the kids. 👉 Day 1: Arrive in Kunming (short stopover to rest) Arrived in Kunming and checked into Shanhaijing Hotel 🏨 (Pic 3). No sightseeing planned. In the evening, we took the subway to Kunming Old Street and Green Lake for a quick stroll, some food, and photos to recharge for the bullet train to Xishuangbanna on Day 2. Day 2: Kunming → Xishuangbanna (Night market + relaxing at a city hotel with a pool) Arrived in Banna in the afternoon, too late for sightseeing, so we went straight into "slow-paced city vacation mode." Checked into the Wanda Realm Resort Xishuangbanna 🏨 (Pic 4)—it has its own pool and full facilities, making it easy to manage the kids. In the evening, we took a leisurely stroll through the Starlight Night Market, ate Dai-style snacks, enjoyed the evening breeze, and soaked in the Banna nightlife. 🌙 Day 3: Heavy rain (Gave up on rainforest hiking and switched to a night study tour at the Botanical Garden) Entered the park in the evening; no daytime UV rays, comfortable temperature, fewer people, and quiet. The atmosphere and experience were perfect. We followed the study tour guide the whole time—city sightseeing that's easy and stress-free for parents. 👍 Day 4: Continued rain (Completely changed plans: half-day mushroom foraging in Nannuo Mountain) Still raining heavily, so rainforest hiking was off the table. With one day left, we had to book a last-minute half-day mushroom foraging trip in Nannuo Mountain 🚗. It actually took about a full day. We were a group of 4 adults and 2 kids. Rented a 7-seater electric car locally for CNY 417. A local guide led us on a hike into the mountains. We discovered all kinds of colorful wild mushrooms along the way—it was like opening blind boxes in the forest. The kids were super excited. The whole route was easy to walk, family-friendly, and very rewarding. 🍄 Day 5: Slow stroll in Manna Ancient Village 👉 Stayed at Shanyouli Homestay next to the ancient village 🏨 (Pic 7) Back to a niche cultural experience, we saved a day to check out Manna Ancient Village. An authentic Dai village with small paths, Dai-style buildings, and greenery everywhere—very photogenic. We took our time experiencing local life. It was very healing and perfect for those who love taking photos 📸. Day 6: 🚄 Return home Our Banna rainy season trip didn't go as planned with the rainforest hike, but we unexpectedly unlocked: a night tour of the Botanical Garden, mushroom foraging in Nannuo Mountain, and a niche ancient village. Every stop was a relaxed experience. 🌿 If you're coming to Banna during the rainy season, my sincere advice is: don't obsess over viral itineraries. Go with the flow and follow the weather; you'll end up with a much more rewarding trip.
