#falladventures #travel #familytravel With a few hours to kill between activities in Dili, we headed out to One Dollar Beach for a look. The best part of an hour's drive (4wd recommended while there are road works) takes you through some great country with fantastic views back to Dili and along the coast. Arriving, we expected to see at least some people swimming at this lovely white beach. Nope, not one! Just a handful of locals sitting up on the odd-looking elevated picnic pavilions. The infrastructure here points to something bigger at some stage, but it was literally a case of the lights were on but nobody at home. One pool half filled with water and another one empty, as if all ready to go. Who knows why no tourists here? As everywhere around Dili on beaches there is rubbish lying on the beach here, which kind of spoils the beach (and probably the swimming) experience. If you enjoy the pictures, please like them! Catch an ojek (motorbike taxi) from Dili or hire a car to get straight to the action. Food/Stay: No fancy hotels crowding the scene—so you keep those dreamy unspoiled vibes all day. But do check out the local food stalls (SO cheap, sooo good!): grilled fish, Timorese specialties, and laid-back beach eats. Bring your own water and snacks if you want to chill the entire day. Extra Hacks: May and June are peak months for visiting—think warm water, cool air, and almost zero rain. For the ultimate Insta shot, hit the beach early morning or late afternoon.
