Mayon, also known as Mount Mayon and Mayon Volcano, is an active stratovolcano in the province of Albay in Bicol Region, on the island of Luzon in the Philippines. Called the world's most perfect volcanic cone because of the symmetry of its shape, it has a base 80 miles (130 km) in circumference and rises to 8,077 feet (2,462 metres) from the shores of Albay Gulf. Cagsawa Ruins is one of the most iconic tourist spots in Albay. The church was built in 1587 then destroyed by Dutch pirates in 1636. If you happen to travel to Legaspi city and want to stay in a hotel which is at the very heart of the city, Hotel St Ellis is the place to be. The hotel is a few blocks away from Ayala mall, and kne jeepney/tricycle ride away from SM mall. It is also newr the local malls in Legaspi. It is also newr the seaside so you can have a morning and night stroll there. The hotel facilities and furnitures are quite up to date. the hotel lobby is amazing and the staff are friendly. it is 20-30 mins away from the airport though but transfer service is free. Breakfast buffet is available and you can try a good range of Filipino breakfast. Other dishes are available as well in the hotel restaurant. The experience is quite good and the price is very reasonable so I will surely come back to this hotel once I visited Legaspi.

A Stroll at Legaspi City’s Seaside

It was a revelation to me! I did not expect to be amazed by the city shore. If you happen to go to Legaspi City, taking a walk by the seaside is a must. Getting there is easy since it is just near the Ayala and SM malls and other local malls - one tricycle or jeepnep ride away. You will be greeted by the Seawall Park leading to Embarcadecero mall where you can dine. A wide range of restaurants, cafes and bars can also be found near the seaside. You can take morning walks or jog at Sawangan Park. The majestic Mayon volcano usually shows at sunrise where there is not much clouds yet blocking its perfect cone-shaped. Locals say you must go there around 5am or 6am. Another park is currently under development which is the People’s Park of Legaspi. Other attractions within the seaside includes the Puro beach, the sleeping tiger, local foodparks etc. I would love to come back or even live here - a city with a seaside.#

#Mayon Volcano & Cagsawa Ruins Park

The only volcano in the world with a perfect cone. It is located in Legazpi, Albay. That is 1 hour by plane from Manila. 10hrs by bus. The majestic beauty of this volcano makes the province of Bicol popular. The church on the side of the volcano is called Cagsawa Church that is located in Daraga, Albay. You can only see the top part of the church because the whole church building was covered by the volcanic lava in one of the eruptions.

It was my childhood dream to witness Mayon’s glory in flesh and not in postcards and history books anymore. Though it wasn’t my first time to see Mayon as I’ve already seen her before when we passed by Tabaco while we were on our way to visit our relatives in Catanduanes way back 2007, but it was my first time to see her from Cagsawa Ruins Park. Entrance fee: ₱10 Viewing Mt. Mayon from Cagsawa Ruins Park creates a different atmosphere compared to other spots. Once you see the Cagsawa Church’s bell tower, you will automatically imagine how disastrous it became when it erupted more than 200 years ago. Going to the Philippines to see the volcano, the ruins and the volcano that smokes are more suitable! Fortunately, on the first day we saw the complete Mayon volcano at Cagsawa Ruins. It was originally a bustling town, which was later destroyed when the Mayon volcano erupted. In addition to the remaining stone walls, this ruin remains the remains of a church, giving people a sense of nature. The original magic. Cagsawa Ruins is definitely a landmark of legazpi. After all, you can see the whole volcano and the view is very good. It really is a small tourist city. We have been patted here for a long time, and we only saw two or three groups of tourists, and they all looked like Filipinos. When I first came, the top part of the volcano was not completely exposed. When we watched the wind waiting for the little one to show the sharp point, we could still see that the crater was smoking white smoke. It was really shocking. I saw the active volcano once, although it was a long distance but really like it! To enter the park, you need to buy tickets and parking fees. We paid a total of 70 pesos, and the attraction is not enough for half an hour. There will also be a lot of ATV ads here, which will encourage you to play the volcano in another way.

In a recent goodwill trip to a place called Mapulang Daga (Red Rat in Tagalog... go figure) in Bacacay, Albay - the local served us their bestvtake on their everyday good. This everyday dish was so special to us. That's deep fried Tamban fish (like sardines), then Ginataang Ubod (so tastful) and Ginataang Lubi-Lubi (a local vegetable) The trip was booked here @trip.com
