Cave of Muang Laplae in Uttaradit is a replica cave created to showcase the legend of Muang Laplae. Located next to the Laplae City Gate and the Laplae Museum in Laplae District, the cave features Sukhothai-inspired architecture, measuring 10 meters wide and 41 meters long. Inside, the cave recreates the atmosphere and lifestyle of the Laplae people through 3D visuals and the tale of the widow, a legendary figure of the land of truthfulness, or "The Land Where Lies Are Forbidden." The story is narrated in the form of Kapyani 11 poetry. The cave is air-conditioned, with an eerie yet beautiful and thrilling ambiance. At the end of the cave, visitors will find the Golden Turmeric Ancestors Shrine, where they can pay respects for good fortune before concluding their visit. This is a must-see attraction. To view it, make sure to close the doors and windows to darken the chapel walls, as the image appears upside-down. It's especially noticeable in bright sunlight. We recommend visiting during the afternoon, as the sun was strong. However, on the day we visited, the temple was closed and rainy, so it was impossible to see it. Wat Phra Borommathat Tung Yang is believed to have been built during the same period, during the Sukhothai period. The temple's viharn features a beautiful gabled roof with a low roof that almost reaches the ground, embodying the beauty of Lanna style. Behind it is a chedi with a history just as old as the temple itself. Wat Don Sak, located in the town of Laplae, Uttaradit, is a centuries-old temple built during the Ayutthaya period. It survived the Burmese invasion and destruction of the city because of the swan statue on top of the ordination hall. The Burmese only marked the temple by slashing the door with a sword as a symbol of destruction. When we visited, the ordination hall was closed, but we could still admire its ancient beauty from the outside. The hall is entirely made of teak wood, in line with the temple's name, Wat Don Sak. However, it has significantly deteriorated over time. It would be great if the relevant authorities could step in to restore it.

Next to it is the city museum, which features a cave that tells the story of the city's history. Another section adjacent to it is a collection of traditional Thai houses that you can climb up and admire. Above, there is an exhibition on the city's history, from past to present. #VisitSecondaryCities We visited Laplae District and found this temple on Google Maps. It looked beautiful and close to the city, so we decided to drive into the temple to admire the beauty of the ordination hall. They say this temple was built during the Ayutthaya period and survived Burmese fires because of the carved wooden swans on the top of the ordination hall. The ordination hall is incredibly old and made of teak, but it appears to have been neglected, with many signs of disrepair visible. This ancient city predates Sukhothai, but the temple itself is believed to have been built during the late Sukhothai period, during the reign of King Lithai. The temple is easy to get to, not too far from Uttaradit city. Upon entering the temple gate, you'll find a spacious parking lot, and you can see the ancient viharn and chedi from the outside. The viharn is very old and beautiful. I love the blue accents on the roof and the various patterns within the viharn, creating a unique and distinctive look. For those new to Thai fabric, a "sin" is a woman's undergarment. It's divided into three parts: the waist, the body, and the feet. Some call it the "head of the skirt," the "body of the skirt," and the "tin jok." Tin Jok is the process of drawing the threads at the bottom of the skirt into a pattern, using porcupine quills or a sharp stick. The Tai Yuan are a people living in northern Thailand. Legend has it that the Tai Yuan migrated to Chiang Saen and settled in Yonok Nakhon, calling their people Yonok. The word was later shortened to "Yuan." When we arrived, the house hadn't even been opened yet, so I left my bags outside. I walked to make merit at Wat Phra Borommathat Thung Yang, which is across the street. When I returned, the auntie left my bags in front of my room, allowing me to check in early. If you don't have a motorbike to rent, she'll find one for you. The mother of the owner took great care of us. The wooden house is decorated in a vintage, old-fashioned style. The atmosphere is peaceful and uncrowded. There are only three rooms here, and each room has full amenities, including air conditioning, a TV, a refrigerator, and an ensuite bathroom. All rooms are priced in the hundreds, making it a great value. The ground floor is a coffee shop selling a variety of beverages, decorated with wooden furniture and antique leather seats. Everything in the decor is in keeping with the same theme. The coolest part is the bicycle corner adorning the wall. When visiting Uttaradit, we recommend Thung Yang House, a place that's more than just a place to stay.
