One of the most powerful and unforgettable experiences of a trip to Palau was flying in a small plane over the Rock Islands. The plane flies quite low, and instead of the usual closed door, there's open space next to it, so the islands and lagoons are unobstructed. From above, the Rock Islands look completely different than from a boat: dozens of small green islands are scattered across the bright turquoise water, while beneath the surface, coral reefs, sandbars, and sharp transitions from light blue to dark blue are clearly visible. At first, sitting next to the open door is a bit unusual: the strong wind, the engine noise, and the feeling of the water right under your feet. But the fear quickly passes, as the breathtaking views unfold around you, making Palau worth flying for. For me, this flight was the best way to see the true scale and beauty of the Rock Islands. The photos are impressive, but even they don't convey the feeling of flying directly over these green islands in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It's especially exciting to realize that the Rock Islands' southern lagoon is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From above, you can clearly see why this place is considered so precious: the islands, reefs, and lagoons form a vast natural labyrinth, almost unlike anywhere else on the planet. Helpful information: this flight requires booking in advance, as it's a popular excursion. There are two companies in Palau that organize these flights. For the ultimate experience, choose a seat without a door. The lack of a door can initially be a bit daunting, but it quickly fades into pure delight. And yes, it's safe, as you're strapped in with a seatbelt before the flight. Under no circumstances should you stick your phone outside the missing door, as gusts of wind can easily rip your camera or phone out of your hands, as almost happened to me. They warn you about this before the flight, but when you see these views, you simply forget all the warnings.

It's a little outside the center of Koror, but within walking distance. It's located on the way to the Palau Aquarium. He is known as a key figure in establishing the current form of storyboards by recording Palauan legends and teaching wood carving techniques to the local people. The Tebang Woodcarving Shop, located on the east side of Koror, is a precious place that preserves this tradition. 🔹A workshop where you can feel the breath of the craftsman Here, you can closely observe skilled craftsmen carving stories from a single wooden board. The way Palauan myths and stories come to life in three dimensions is truly a testament to their craftsmanship.
