Kaş stands on the site of ancient Antiphellos (once part of the Lycian League!), and even its name translates to "eyebrow" — because of its location right on the hillside. This town is literally eye-catching! What to see and do in Kaş? 🏛️ ✨ Take a stroll through the center! Right in town, you can check out a 2nd-century BC amphitheater and top-tier Lycian tombs for free (look out for the Lion Tomb from the 4th century BC — it pops up right in the middle of a street!). Kas is a small coastal town in southwestern Turkey, free from the hustle and bustle of big resorts, but offering pristine waters, ancient ruins, and a Greek vibe. Here we managed to visit a few beaches- Almost all the beaches in Kas are cozy rocky coves with fine pebbles and crystal-clear water. 📌 Kaputaş Beach — the most photogenic beach in Turkey. It is a narrow strip of pebbles between cliffs, accessible via a staircase from the road. The water here is an incredible azure color, and it gets deep just a few meters from the shore. 📌 Büyük Çakıl Plajı — located a kilometer and a half from the center, featuring several restaurants with terraces. 📌 Küçük Çakıl Plajı — located right in the city center, a small lagoon with rocky cliffs and crystal-clear water. Kas is an intimate town where it's a pleasure simply to stroll around. The Old Town consists of narrow cobblestone streets with white houses draped in flowers. It is full of cafes, souvenir shops, and handmade jewelry workshops — and has almost no tourist crowds. The main historical attraction is the ancient Antiphellos Theatre. It is located right in the center of town on a hillside, and sitting on its 2,000-year-old stone steps, watching the sunset over the Mediterranean Sea, is perhaps the best thing you can do in Kas. Admission is free. Kas is considered one of the best places for diving in Turkey. Here you can explore shipwrecks and underwater caves. One-day boat tours to the sunken ancient city of Kekova are popular. For hiking enthusiasts, the famous Lycian Way passes through here; we even walked a short section of it at sunset)) Kas is the perfect destination for those who are tired of noisy resorts. Here you will find clean seas and delicious food. It feels like you are not in Turkey, but on a Greek island.

💙 If I had to choose just one hotel I'd go back to, it would definitely be Alley Prime Hotel. Even the locals told us that this is one of the most beautiful and comfortable hotels in Kas. 🌊 The main advantage is the location. · The hotel is located in a quiet part of the Çukurbağ Peninsula, away from the noisy center. It offers stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea and the Greek island of Kastellorizo, and in the evening you can watch one of the most beautiful sunsets in Kas. 🚕 Getting to the city center takes about 8–10 minutes by car or 10–15 minutes by taxi. 🌊 First coastline The hotel has set up a beautiful platform right above the sea with comfortable sun loungers, umbrellas, and stairs leading down to the water. The water here is incredibly crystal clear, and thanks to the rocky shore, it has a rich turquoise color. By the way, the hotel grounds are perfect for taking those vibrant, Pinterest-worthy photos that need absolutely no editing. 🍳 Breakfasts deserve a special mention This is not a classic buffet. Every morning they serve a large Turkish breakfast with dozens of small plates: · fresh vegetables and fruits · several types of cheese · homemade jams · eggs · pastries · desserts · tea, coffee, or juice. Some of the dishes change daily, so breakfast never gets boring even after a few days of stay. 🛏️ Rooms We stayed in a sea-view room. However, keep in mind that restaurants and bars stay open late, so it can get a bit noisy. The ancient ruins of the city of Patara are located right nearby, making it easy to turn this into a half-day or even full-day trip. 🇬🇧 The Crowd We were surprised to find that the vast majority of tourists here are British. While many travelers head to the country’s larger beach destinations, this small coastal town offers a completely different atmosphere. What I enjoyed most was how relaxed everything felt. The town combines beautiful sea views, narrow streets, local cafés, and a waterfront that is perfect for evening walks. Despite its popularity among some travelers, it still feels more authentic and less crowded than many of Turkey’s major resort areas. The surrounding coastline is stunning, with crystal-clear water, scenic viewpoints, and plenty of opportunities to explore nearby beaches and hidden coves. I originally planned to stay for a short time, but quickly understood why so many people end up extending their visit. Kaş has a laid-back charm that is difficult to describe until you experience it yourself. If you’re looking for beautiful coastal scenery, a relaxed atmosphere, and a slower pace of travel, Kaş is definitely worth considering. In my opinion, it’s one of the most underrated destinations on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast.

It's no secret that Turkey's most popular beach, nestled between the high cliffs of the Mediterranean Sea, is Kaputas Beach! 🐚 It's located between the resorts of Kas (approximately 20 km from the beach) and Kalkan (approximately 7 km). Its signature feature is its crystal-clear, deep turquoise water, golden sand, and a monumental cliff to the right of the beach. How to get there? The most convenient way is by car (we had our own, as we arrived in Turkey by car) or renting one. There's a small parking lot near the beach, but to get a spot, you need to arrive very early, right before the beach opens at 7:00 AM, or maybe even earlier. We arrived around 10:00 AM, and everything along the road to the beach was already parked, not to mention the parking lot. Those who run out of parking simply park along the road, both before and after the beach. We did the same and left our car around the corner after the beach. The beach is accessed via stairs leading from the road, and there's a door right on the stairs that's apparently closed outside of regular hours. The stairs are quite steep, but overall comfortable. There's a café, restrooms, showers, and changing rooms on site. 💵 Entrance fee: 50 lira per person. Sun loungers and umbrellas cost 230 lira each, with no time limit, but we didn't have a long stay, so we didn't rent any. Is it worth it? We were lucky; the beach was half empty, there weren't many people, and we were able to enjoy the beautiful weather while swimming in the turquoise sea. This is the best beach I've ever seen! We brought a mask, and our child even managed to spot the fish, the water was so clear. The beach's main drawback is its popularity. During peak season, it's very crowded and often feels crowded. While the walk there is relatively easy, the climb back...is a bit of a struggle. Especially in the heat. In Kalkan, I booked a small boutique hotel called Old Kalamaki Pansiyon. It's a cozy little hotel with a homey vibe. To be honest, I prefer places like this much more than star-rated chain hotels with buffets. They have a certain soul to them 🙌🏻 It feels like you're visiting a friend, rather than just checking into a room 🥹 The hotel itself is small, super cozy, featuring an interesting interior and plenty of lovely little details. By the way, boutique hotels like this are way more common in Kalkan than your typical large hotels. 🍳 Every morning, the hostess personally cooked a traditional Turkish breakfast for the guests. She's also the receptionist and the one who greets everyone. I didn't see any other staff during our entire stay. She's a very sweet and welcoming girl ☺️ I used a few basic phrases in Turkish, and if we needed to clarify anything, we'd switch to English. Breakfast is served right in the courtyard on one of Kalkan's most beautiful streets. You sit at a table surrounded by stone houses, flowers, and cozy touches. Another huge plus of this hotel is its location. It's situated right in the heart of Kalkan, on one of the prettiest streets in town. You step out the door and instantly find yourself amidst cozy cafes, little shops, blooming balconies, and those very atmospheric streets that draw so many people here. 🌊 Plus, the sea is super close. You just walk down the street for a few minutes, and you're already at the promenade and the city beach. I booked the hotel through Trip.com. Since it was my first time using the platform, I got to use a welcome promo code for 1,300 rubles off. 💲 In the end, a room with breakfast included came out to 8,580 rubles a night.

The most amazing part is its acoustics—stand in the center of the stage and speak normally, and the last row at the top can hear you clearly without any amplification. Every June and July, an opera festival is held here. Just imagining sitting on 2,000-year-old stone steps watching an open-air opera gives me goosebumps. Afternoon is the best time for lighting, with sunlight hitting the colonnade from the side, creating rich shadows—perfect for photos. Plus, fewer tourists come in the afternoon, so you can basically have the stone steps to yourself. If you don’t drive, take a minibus from Antalya’s long-distance bus station to Serik town, then transfer to bus 10. The whole trip takes about 1.5 hours. Locate Könül plajı! It's located near Oludeniz, on the way from Fethiye to Kaš. Take the D400 highway; you'll see a trash can near the seaside fence. There's a small entrance next to it that leads down! This is a less-traveled, off-the-beaten-path spot; be careful as you'll have to walk along a small mountain/rocky path. The main attraction is that in the city center you'll find an ancient amphitheater and Lycian tombs, which are free to enter. And just across the bay is the Greek island of Kastellorizo, where boats sail in the summer. The beaches here are mostly pebble. The most beautiful are located outside the city: Kaputaş – a famous turquoise bay between cliffs. Patara – a vast sandy beach (up to 20 km long), where turtles nest. It's a diver's paradise (there are ruins and sunken planes underwater) and an excellent place for hiking along the Lycian Way. Getting there The most convenient way to get there is via Antalya (about 200 km) or Dalaman (about 150 km). Buses and minivans run from both cities to Kas. You can also rent a car or scooter to explore the area independently. We drove from Kemer (an area of ​​Antalya). The 165 km road is spectacular and very beautiful. There are some switchbacks, of course, but without any steep climbs or descents. The drive took about 3 hours. The town itself is small, so you can walk the entire area. Everything is cozy, compact, and steeply historical.

If you're planning a trip to Turkey, I highly recommend stopping by Kaş, a picturesque small town. The sea is absolutely gorgeous, the sky is brilliantly blue, and the vibe is just so chill! ☺️🩵 You can easily take an overnight bus from Cappadocia and arrive in Antalya right in the morning. From there, rent a car and drive down to Kaş—the coastal views around there are absolutely breathtaking! Our bus ride cost $19, traveling from 10:00 PM to 9:00 AM, leaving us perfectly ready to explore to the fullest.
