A journey to Ephesus is like stepping into an open-air history book. The ancient city of Ephesus is located near Selçuk, in the Izmir Province of Turkey. We drove there from the resort town of Kuşadası, and the journey took only about 20 minutes by car — an easy and convenient trip for a day of exploring. The archaeological site is huge, beautifully maintained and very easy to navigate. There is so much to see as you walk through the ancient streets, past impressive columns, ruins and monumental buildings. What makes the experience even more fascinating is that archaeological excavations are still continuing here today, so the story of Ephesus is far from finished. For me, one of the most beautiful things about Ephesus was the scenery itself. The bright summer sky and warm, pale stone seemed like a perfect combination. Under the sunlight, the ancient ruins looked especially impressive, and every corner seemed made for photographs. Be prepared for quite a lot of walking, especially on a hot summer day, but it is absolutely worth taking your time and simply enjoying the atmosphere of this extraordinary place. And after your walk through ancient history, I recommend stopping at a restaurant on the central square of Selçuk and trying some local Turkish specialties. Maybe one of those famous viewpoints you see everywhere online. But strangely, the part I ended up loving most wasn’t the place everyone photographs. It was everything in between. The quiet paths disappearing through gardens. Bougainvillea spilling over stone walls as if nobody had ever told it where to stop. Tiny terraces facing a sea so blue that every few minutes I caught myself looking at it again, even though the view hadn’t changed. And then there were the mountains. They seemed to follow us everywhere — behind the houses, beyond the palms, appearing suddenly at the end of a street and making an ordinary walk feel like part of the Lycian landscape. That became my favorite rhythm here. Wake up slowly. Walk toward the water. Stop somewhere simply because the flowers look beautiful. Sit longer than planned. Order something cold. Forget what time it is. And eventually realize that you haven’t “done” very much at all — yet somehow the day feels completely full. Fethiye has famous places for a reason. But I think the real luxury of this coastline is finding somewhere that makes you stop chasing the next sight. A quiet corner. A table overlooking the sea. Sunlight moving across the mountains. Kas, Antalya is honestly a place that lives rent-free in my heart! The whole vibe here is so chill and dreamy—it’s a slow-paced town where you can totally soak in every sunset by the sparkling Mediterranean. The waterfront is unreal 😍, and the locals? Some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet in Turkey. I love the life here—think cozy cafés lining the promenade, cute little shops, and those spontaneous chats with strangers who instantly feel like friends. There’s just something magical about wandering around the old town, grabbing fresh seafood, and watching boats drift in and out of Kas Harbor (address: Andifli Mahallesi, 07580 Kaş/Antalya, Turkey). The Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Alanya has a special place in my heart. In July, it is warm, inviting and almost impossible to resist. But what I love most is that the sea is never quite the same. Sometimes it is completely calm, smooth and peaceful, as if it has decided to slow down with you. Sometimes gentle waves roll towards the shore, and you can spend hours simply watching them. And sometimes the Mediterranean becomes wild and powerful — waves rise, the water changes its mood, and the whole coastline feels different. But in every mood, it is beautiful. I love the sea not only during the day. Early in the morning, when the beach is still quiet, it feels especially peaceful. During the day, the sunlight makes the water sparkle and reveals its incredible colours. And in the evening, when the heat softens and the sky changes, the sea becomes completely different again. Even at night, I find myself looking towards it. This is our second year staying at Utopia World, and we have grown especially fond of Utopia World Hotel Beach. There is a pier, beautifully clear water and, most importantly for us, not too many people. It is easy to find a quiet moment here and simply enjoy the Mediterranean. But honestly, the beach is only part of the story. The real reason I love coming here is the sea. 🌊 I can sit by it for a long time without getting bored. Watch the waves. Listen to the water. Swim until I don’t want to anymore. Or simply stand on the shore and look at the horizon. Maybe that’s why I call it my little friendship with the sea. It doesn’t have to be calm to be beautiful. One of my favourite ways to explore the Gazipaşa coast is simply to pick a direction and keep following the sea. We spent a full day riding a trike along the coastal roads west of Gazipaşa, stopping at ancient ruins, tiny beaches, caves and viewpoints along the way. The distances between the stops aren’t huge, but this is definitely a route worth taking slowly — the road itself is one of the best parts. 🛺 Our route: Gazipaşa → Aydapınar Ancient Ruins → Aysultan Beach → Korsan Mağarası → back toward Gazipaşa → Selinus → Kızıl İn 📍 Aydapınar Ancient Ruins Our first stop of the day. A quiet archaeological site surrounded by Mediterranean landscape, with hardly anyone around. 🏖️ Aysultan Beach A small coastal stop surrounded by cliffs and clear blue water. The drive here is just as beautiful as the beach itself. 🌊 Korsan Mağarası Another scenic stop along this rugged stretch of coast, with rocky cliffs and small hidden coves. From here we turned around and followed the coastal road back toward Gazipaşa. 🏛️ Selinus We stopped around the Selinus area and passed the remains of the old aqueduct in the late afternoon. By pure chance, the setting sun lined up perfectly inside one of the surviving stone arches — probably my favourite photo from the entire day. 🌅 Kızıl İn Our final stop. We reached the coast just in time to watch the sun disappear beside the mountain. If you have your own transport in Gazipaşa, I’d allow most of the day for this route. There are hotels where you simply spend your holiday. And then there are hotels you remember long after you leave — because of the atmosphere, the feeling, and the little things that made you feel truly comfortable. For me, Utopia World in Alanya is one of those places. The hotel is built on a mountain surrounded by a beautiful pine forest. And the first thing that impressed me was the huge, incredibly green territory. It feels more like a small resort town hidden among the trees than a traditional hotel. There are walking paths and peaceful corners everywhere. You can leave your room and simply go for a walk, enjoying the pine trees, fresh air and beautiful views. Sometimes you don’t need any plans at all — just walk, stop somewhere, take a photo and enjoy the moment. 🌲 And then there are the pools! They are large, clean and comfortable, but each one offers a completely different experience. The infinity pool is perfect for relaxing and taking those beautiful holiday photos where the water seems to blend into the horizon. 📸 There is also an 18+ pool, where the atmosphere is wonderfully quiet and peaceful. It is the perfect place when you want to escape the noise and simply relax. And, of course, there are the waterpark pools — where the mood changes completely. Slides, splashing water, laughter and plenty of fun. 💦 The food deserves a special mention too. Everything we tried was incredibly delicious, with plenty of variety. The entire territory is clean and beautifully maintained, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Of course, Utopia World has everything you would expect from a great resort: pools, entertainment, excellent food and beautiful views. But for me, the real magic is the space. The huge green territory gives this hotel something that is difficult to find elsewhere. You never feel like you are trapped inside one building or a small resort area. There is always another path to walk, another quiet corner to discover, another beautiful view waiting around the bend. And this is exactly why I would come back. Not only for the sea. Not only for the pools or the food. A day at the Utopia World Aquapark in Antalya is one of those days when it is impossible to get bored. The aquapark is surrounded by beautiful pine trees, which make the whole place feel much greener and more relaxing than you might expect from a water park. The tall pine crowns provide welcome shade from the strong Mediterranean sun, so you can enjoy the water without spending the entire day in direct sunlight. There is plenty to keep you entertained. The aquapark has 8 slides for adults and 4 for children, with different options for those who love excitement and those who prefer something more relaxed. There is also a rafting area, several pools and a waterfall pool surrounded by greenery. (Utopia Hotels) And then there is the best part — you don’t have to spend the whole day running from one attraction to another. Sometimes you can go down a slide, swim for a while and enjoy the excitement. And then, when you feel like slowing down, simply find a sun lounger under the pine trees, open your book and relax. This combination is what I enjoyed most. You can make the day as active or as peaceful as you want. When you get hungry, there is no need to leave the aquapark. The Aqua Snack Restaurant offers pizza, burgers and other snacks, while the Aqua Bar is nearby for drinks. We arrived at the hotel, and there it was, a real Oktoberfest 🇩🇪 Not just a themed dinner for a couple of hours, but a whole festive venue: German decorations, long tables, kegs of beer, a grill, music, performers, and dancing. At the Bosphorus Sorgun Hotel in Side, an ordinary vacation turns into a grand German celebration for one evening. Sausages, meat, and appetizers are on the tables 🥨 Beer is poured from kegs 🍺 Music and a show are on stage 🎶 And all around are people who have come to have fun. And I think it's precisely these kinds of events that make a hotel stay more interesting. We didn’t come here for the balloons, but for the stunning landscapes and the wine — and we made the right call. We visited to admire the famous interiors, crystal, and gold—and were immediately met with a massive queue. 🏛️ When we arrived, the line stretched for about 100 meters, but it moved surprisingly fast. First, you pass through security, then head to the ticket office. Fortunately, the ticket line was quite short, so we didn't have to wait long. Overall, the whole process took about 30 minutes. 🏛️ Dolmabahçe was built in the 19th century by order of Sultan Abdülmecid I. In 1856, the royal court moved here from Topkapi. Its architecture is a blend of Baroque, Rococo, and Neoclassicism, making it look quite different from traditional Ottoman residences. 🏛️ Inside, you’ll find 285 rooms and 46 halls filled with opulent decor, gold, and crystal. One of the highlights is the massive crystal chandelier, weighing approximately 4.5 tons. 🏛️ The palace is also deeply tied to the history of modern Turkey. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk spent his final years here. In his room, the clocks are still set to 9:05—the exact time of his passing on November 10, 1938. 🏛️ Cost: Tickets for foreigners start at around 2,000 ₺. Colorful houses 🎨 The colourful streets of Balat are perfect if you want something more playful and Instagram-friendly. Brightly painted historic houses, steep streets and colourful stairways create plenty of natural backdrops. Go in the morning before the neighbourhood gets busy. 📷 Best shot: Walking uphill through the colourful streets rather than posing directly in front of a house. ⏰ Best time: Morning. 3. Suleymaniye Mosque 🕌 For me, this is the most underrated of the three. The mosque itself is spectacular, but the real Instagram payoff is the elevated view towards the Golden Horn, Galata and the Bosphorus. The terrace provides a fantastic layered Istanbul skyline. 📷 Best shot: Frame yourself against the mosque courtyard or use the Golden Horn as the background. ⏰ Best time: Late afternoon/golden hour.
