For anyone planning a trip to Kyoto, I highly recommend these must-see attractions. Bookmark them! They're incredibly beautiful.
Tenryu-ji Temple has a wonderful atmosphere and is famous for its stunning gardens. The gardens are vast and diverse, making for an enjoyable stroll. If you get tired, there are pavilions inside the garden where you can rest. The view from there is breathtaking, with a pond and lush green mountains in front – incredibly relaxing to the eyes.
Tenryu-ji Temple is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, making it well worth a visit. Has anyone been here before?

Must see! The world-famous Gifu Rose Garden
This time we will introduce Gifu World Rose Garden🌹
The rose garden in spring is especially impressive with 20,000 roses of 6,000 varieties in full bloom😊
There are large seasonal gardens such as tulips and nemophila in spring, sunflowers in summer, and cockscomb in autumn, as well as a flower tower that offers a panoramic view of the garden from a height of 45m above the ground, so it is a large garden that can be enjoyed even outside of the rose season, making it a place that families and couples can enjoy🤗

Tenryuji Temple
Tenryuji temple was beautiful. There's a fee to visit the grounds at 500yen for the garden and 300yen for the temple. We opted to go through both and we were not disappointed. Before reviewing further, I would recommend that the place be visited during the autumn when all the trees still have their autumn color leaves. We visited in late December and while the place was still beautiful, all the trees looked dead. The temple requires you to remove your shoes and had I known that before buying my temple ticket I would not have proceeded. The ground was very cold, but they do make an effort to warm it up a bit by placing mats everywhere. I highly recommend this temple and would definitely go again during autumn.

[Gifu] Just like Kyoto!? A spectacular bamboo forest
I had no idea there were such beautiful bamboo forests outside of Kyoto...!
A hidden gem with a spectacular view in Gifu
A 600m long bamboo forest promenade along the Kiso River
The light was beautiful and it was very pretty
However, I was careless and got bitten by more than 20 mosquitoes while having fun taking pictures, so make sure you bring insect repellent when you go 🤣 lol

A flower park for the whole family to enjoy
This is a theme park with a park and flowers on a vast site.
There are large playground equipment, and kindergarteners can enjoy it. You can bring your children and play there all day.
However, there are few places to eat, so we recommend bringing a packed lunch.
The parking lot is large, so you can park with plenty of space.

📍 Kyoto 2D1N Itinerary
Day 1: Central & East Kyoto
🏰 Nijo-jo Castle: Kick off the trip by exploring this historic castle. Wander through the wooden palace and beautiful gardens in a peaceful atmosphere.
⛩️ Kiyomizudera Temple: An iconic landmark with its towering wooden stage. Even with a little drizzle, the vibe was incredibly magical and lush.
🏮 Gion & Ninenzaka/Sannenzaka (Old Town): Stroll down the traditional wooden streets and soak in the historic charm. Snap some photos with the Yasaka Pagoda for the ultimate retro feel.
🌃 Kyoto Station & Tower: Wrap up day one by taking in the stunning city night views at Kyoto Tower, right across from the station. The vibrant city lights are absolutely gorgeous.
Day 2: West & South Kyoto
🎋 Arashiyama: Wake up early for a relaxing walk through the lush green bamboo grove. Right nearby is Tenryu-ji Temple, which features a breathtaking Zen rock garden and pond. Finish up with a scenic stroll along the Katsura River.
⛩️ Fushimi Inari Shrine: End the trip at this famous shrine with thousands of vibrant red torii gates. Walk through the iconic gates and take photos with the fox statues. The atmosphere is truly grand and unforgettable.
💡 Travel & Transit Info
Transportation: Super convenient! I used JR trains (for Arashiyama and Fushimi Inari) and city buses (for Kiyomizudera and Gion). I just switched between the two depending on what was easiest! 🚇🚌

Kyoto isn't just a place... it's the way time flows.
Here,
time is never in a rush.
The pace is unhurried,
the vibe is serene,
and everything just feels... right.
⸻
In front of this ancient gate,
people come and go.
Some are just passing through.
While others choose to pause for a moment.
⸻
Then suddenly,
a rickshaw rolls by.
It's not just a ride,
but a little piece of the past still breathing today.
⸻
There is something curious about Kyoto.
It doesn't scream for your attention.
But that's exactly why you can't take your eyes off it.

7,000 varieties of roses from all over the world bloom beautifully in a vast area (80.7 hectares), which is about 17 times larger than the Nagoya Dome. A flower museum where you can enjoy seasonal flowers and trees throughout the year, the 45-meter-high Flower Tower and the outdoor event hall Princess Hall Miyabi have 7,000 varieties of roses planted in two main areas, the “World Rose Garden” and the “Rose Garden.” Around the end of May, you can enjoy the beautiful rose garden where the most roses bloom in the year, and around the end of October, when the temperature slowly drops, you can enjoy colorful and fragrant roses.

Visit old temples and Japanese temples
Tenruji Temple is an old temple, a very large temple located next to Bamboo Forest. The temple is beautifully decorated in the original Japanese style. The whole temple is decorated with cherry trees. Some of the trees are very old and rare. However, it is a temple located next to a community, so they live together in a perfect way. The temple grounds look clean and beautifully divided between the temple and the adjacent community.
