Taman Negara Kuala Tahan, Pahang is just about a 4-hour drive from Cyberjaya and makes a great destination for a short nature getaway. 🚗 Day 1: Check In at Mutiara Taman Negara & Night Walk After arriving at Taman Negara, I checked into Mutiara Taman Negara, the only resort located within the national park itself. Surrounded by nature, it was the perfect place to disconnect from the busy city life. At night, I joined the guided night walk through the rainforest. Walking through the dark jungle while spotting insects and nocturnal animals was a unique experience that you don't get to enjoy every day. It was both exciting and eye-opening. 🚤 Day 2: Buffet Breakfast & Boat Trip to Lata Berkoh The next morning started with a buffet breakfast before heading off on a boat trip to Lata Berkoh. The journey itself was part of the experience, with beautiful river scenery and lush rainforest views along the way. We also stopped at Kelah Sanctuary before continuing to Lata Berkoh. The crystal-clear water, peaceful surroundings, and untouched rainforest atmosphere made it one of the most relaxing spots in Taman Negara. Definitely one of the best healing experiences I've had. ✨ Final Thoughts After the boat trip, it was time to drive back to Cyberjaya. Even though it was only a short 2D1N trip, it felt like a proper break from the hustle and bustle of city life. Activities included a night jungle walk, a hike up Bukit Teresek (tough due to the heat and humidity but worth it), and a boat ride on Sungai Tahan. We then spent a cooler night in the Cameron Highlands, followed by a day in Georgetown. The trip concluded with four relaxing nights at the luxurious Berjaya Resort in Langkawi—a perfect way to unwind after a packed week. The tour required plenty of driving, but this was necessary to cover so much in a limited time. Our driver-guide, Thiva, was excellent—knowledgeable, humorous, and a confident driver. It’s tough to pick a standout moment, but the tour of a Taiping charcoal factory by its 82-year-old owner was truly unforgettable. Overall, an amazing tour that we’d wholeheartedly recommend.

Spanning a massive 4,343 square kilometres, it’s one of Malaysia’s most treasured natural wonders and a must-visit for anyone who loves the outdoors. The journey there from Cyberjaya took around four hours, with Waze and Google Maps guiding us straight to Kuala Tahan Jetty, the main gateway into the park. Along the way, you’ll pass through small towns, stretches of greenery, and winding roads that start to give you that “we’re heading somewhere wild” feeling. For the night, we checked into Mutiara Taman Negara, the only resort located inside the park. Built with traditional Malay architecture and surrounded by dense jungle, it blends beautifully into its environment. Waking up here is like pressing the reset button – birdsong drifting through the air, monkeys leaping between branches, and the forest stretching endlessly beyond your doorstep. Total nature therapy. And of course, no Taman Negara trip is complete without a boat ride to Lata Berkoh. Cruising along the Sungai Tahan, the scenery is a mix of calm stretches and adrenaline-pumping moments as the boatmen expertly weave past rocks and low-hanging branches. For me, it was a nostalgic moment – I remembered flipping through the Ministry of Tourism’s monthly magazine as a kid, staring at photos of this very river. Seeing it in person now? Pure magic. The river may look dark and mysterious on the surface, but step in and you’ll find the water crystal clear and refreshingly cool.
