Mt. Omuro Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Mt. Omuro is a magical mountain. It is an inactive volcano that changes colors throughout the season. During Summer, it is color green. During the cold seasons, it dries up and becomes brown. Visitors can ride a lift to go to the crater of Mt. Omuro, where they will be allowed to walk around it to gain a 360 degree view of the whole place. There are also snack stores and restaurants at the foot of it.

Your name check-in location - Omuroyama
Visiting Japan, you definitely shouldn't miss the great place that is Omuroyama. Fans of 'Your Name' must long for this place, located on the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. It represents Japan's volcanic scoria cones and is a 'nationally designated natural monument', as well as a filming location for the movie 'Your Name'. Omuroyama has a conical shape and is a dormant volcano with an interesting appearance. The slope is relatively gentle, and its altitude is 580 meters. You can reach the summit by cable car, where the circular mountain path is completely unobstructed, offering views of buildings in Ito City and the Pacific Ocean. On clear days, you can also see Mount Fuji and Izu Oshima from the top of Omuroyama. On good days, you can even see Mount Fuji
Checking in at Omuroyama, the prototype of 'Your Name'
Today I went to Omuroyama in the Izu Highlands of Japan to see the prototype location of 'Your Name'. I set off from Atami, there are two limited edition trains specially for viewing the sea scenery, the Black Ship Electric Train and the Golden Eye Bream Train are definitely worth a ride, they're super cool.
After arriving at the Izu Highlands, take the public bus, there is a one-day pass discount ticket available for purchase, but remember, it's closed on Wednesdays, there's none for sale. Take the bus to the entrance of Omuroyama, buy a cable car ticket for 1,000 yen, and you can take the cable car up to take pictures. It's really beautiful and photogenic. If the weather is good, you'll see Mount Fuji in the distance. There are nice souvenir shops on the mountain and at the foot of the mountain to browse, and there's a stamp check-in at the top of the mountain.
Also, I don't recommend checking in at the Kinosaki Coastal Suspension Bridge, haha.

Jogasaki Coast Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Jogasaki Coast
#2024wish
This coastline is easy to access view bus route from Ito station. There is a trail along the coast which is easy to walk and has many great sites. You can see the beautiful coast, the lighthouse, and walk across a suspension bridge all within a couple of hours. Beautiful scenery for a walk, good distance and access from Tokyo and meanwhile you can feel away from its crowd.
In 2024, I want to visit this place again.
#Shizuoka
Been to Shizuoka coast in such a cloudy and rainy day. But the beach was still so beautiful. Not so many people so I felt like I still could enjoy the silence of nature
Beautiful experience in Izu peninsula Japan
I find peace in this place
There are so many beaches and islands in Izu
You can do fishing, cycling, boating, swimming, sea diving and other activities
Hotels are very expensive and full reserved specially in summer. So I recommend lodge because there are so many lodges in this place. And don’t forget to enjoy sea food. #izu #visitjapan

Izu Shaboten Zoo 🇯🇵
#cherryblossom2024
Izu Shaboten Zoo was an unexpected gem during my spring vacation in Japan! 🌵 Located in the scenic Izu Peninsula, this zoo offered a unique blend of animal encounters and botanical wonders. The entrance fee was quite reasonable, around 1,500 yen per person, making it a worthwhile investment for a day of exploration. As I strolled through the zoo, I was amazed by the variety of animals, from adorable meerkats to majestic giraffes and exotic birds. #IzuShabotenZoo and #NatureEscape Nearby, attractions like the stunning Jogasaki Coast and the tranquil Joren Falls provided opportunities to immerse myself in the natural beauty of the Izu Peninsula. Plus, don't miss the chance to explore the nearby hot springs and enjoy a relaxing soak after a day of adventure. Izu Shaboten Zoo was a delightful destination for animal lovers and nature enthusiasts alike, leaving me with cherished memories of my visit to this scenic paradise. 🦒🌺

Izu Granpal Park Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Last Year's Grand Illumination in Shizuoka
From November 11, 2022 until August 2023, Izu Granpal Park in Shizuoka Prefecture will host the 8th Izu Kogen Grand Illumination event! The Izu Kogen Grand Illumination was ranked #1 in the Walker+National Illumination Ranking for six consecutive years and is beloved by visitors of all ages. This isn’t just a collection of pretty lights–the Grand Illumination also includes a number of hands-on experiences for everyone to enjoy. In 2021, the event won first place in the Ninth Illumination Awards for the second year in a row. Known as Japan’s first ‘hands-on illumination experience,’ the park has continued to evolve year after year, adding more attractions and finding its unique style. These attractions include a zip line through the lights, Dinosaur Go-Karts, and more.
Don't miss this year's illumination!

Magical evening in Shizuoka
#2024wish
The illuminations at Izu Kogen Granillumi are held over a long period of more than nine months between fall and summer. We went here in November, and this is one of the best illuminations I've seen. The park was so lively with upbeat songs playing. You can sing along with your friends.
In 2024, I want to visit Shizuoka again and eat seafood again.
Izu Granpal Park
#2024wish
Parking is free for Illumination visiting hours. Parking lot looks big too. You’re supposed to retrieve paper ticket at ticket counter by showing the e-mail sent to you when you buy ticket online. Rebate is available online. Many fun attractions, separate charge - cycling, cart, balloon, flying chair and children's playground (FOC) and many others. Lots of photo spots also. The illumination is fabulous. The laser light show is fantastic.
In 2024, I want to come back here.
The Grand Illumination in Izu (7th Season)
This is by far my most favorite illumination in Japan. I went here in 2021, and I would love to go back. This was the 7th Season of the Grand Illumination at Izu Granpal Park in Shizuoka Prefecture.
You can try out different rides if you have plenty of time.
The highlights of the illumination includes the "Light and Sound Show" where illuminations dance with the music. The "Full Color Laser Show'' which creates a fantastical world where the aurora appears to be moving. And, the "Gran Vision Show'' which is a collaboration between a large 60m wide LED vision and sound. You can enjoy the collaboration of music and light from 8:00 PM ~ Closing time.
This is the perfect place to enjoy your Christmas holiday this year.

K's House Ito Onsen is by far the best staycation I've ever had. It is a century-old Ryokan located in Ito City in the Izu Peninsula, Shizuoka. It is very traditional that I felt like I time-traveled back to the 1890s. They also have a state-of-the-art Onsen facility. They have the best view of the river and the pine trees by their terraces sends you a very relaxing feeling in the morning. Totally a recommended stay!

K House (), by the river and the sea, with hot springs with kitchen, the key department shared area is large and has a partition, elegant layout, is a good place to blow water online. The price here is very high, and a double room is probably less than 500 yuan. The clerk can also use English proficiently. When the clerk introduces it, he said that this is an old house, old antiques, be careful to use, and walk lightly.
In and out of the hotel, you must change your shoes. The floor inside is not allowed to be traced. The cleanliness is far worse than that of the Westerners.
