Húsavík ,small towns where we spent a night during our road trip around Iceland. Located on the shores of Skjálfandi Bay in North Iceland, Húsavík is often referred to as the whale-watching capital of Iceland. We stayed at Bjarnabúð, a cozy accommodation near the waterfront. The location was great, with views overlooking the harbor and the colorful town. It was a peaceful place to relax and the property was clean and in good condition. One of the main reasons we chose to stay in Húsavík was for a whale-watching tour. Unfortunately, we weren't lucky enough to spot any whales on the day we went out. Even so, I still felt the trip was worthwhile. Being out on the open water, surrounded by mountains and dramatic Icelandic scenery, was a memorable experience in itself. Sometimes wildlife doesn't cooperate, but the journey was beautiful. The town itself is charming with colorful houses and a picturesque harbor. We also drove up to Húsavík Viewing Point, which offers spectacular panoramic views over the town, the bay, and the surrounding mountains. The contrast between the deep blue ocean and the rugged Icelandic landscape was stunning and definitely worth the short drive. Whale Watching Tours🐋 There are several reputable whale-watching companies operating from Húsavík, including: · North Sailing – One of the oldest and most well-known whale-watching operators in Iceland, famous for its traditional wooden boats and environmentally conscious tours. · Friends of Moby Dick – A smaller local operator offering whale-watching experiences with knowledgeable guides and a more intimate atmosphere. Húsavík Church ⛪ Beautiful old wooden church in the heart of town, built in 1907, known for its unique Swiss chalet-style architecture. . GeoSea Geothermal Sea Baths🌅 Another experience that I think you should try when visiting Húsavík is GeoSea Geothermal Sea Baths. Unfortunately, it was raining on the day we plan to visit.during our visit, so we decided not to go. Looking back, it's probably the one thing I wish we had made time for. GeoSea features naturally heated seawater rich in minerals. The infinity pools sit on a cliff overlooking Skjálfandi Bay, offering breathtaking views of the ocean and surrounding mountains. Europe's largest whale museum, Whales of Iceland, is located right here, featuring over 25 life-size whale models accompanied by immersive underwater sound and lighting effects—it's truly breathtaking. However, my go-to spot for watching soccer isn't inside the museum, but rather on the second floor of a nearby cafe housed in a converted old fishing boat. The wooden floors still retain the slight curvature of a ship's cabin, the windows beautifully frame the harbor views, and a large screen hangs among nautical charts and vintage photos. This isn't your typical loud sports bar; it's one of the few quiet spots that broadcast "niche matches"—while everyone else is glued to the heavyweight clashes, this space is reserved for fans who just want to focus on non-mainstream games. For my soccer night, I ordered a latte and a traditional Icelandic kleina (fried pastry). I shared the entire second floor with just one old sea captain. We sat quietly, watching a final group stage match that no one else seemed to care about. When a goal was scored, we just exchanged a glance and gently raised our glasses. I joined a whale watching tour, and honestly, it was unreal! The moment those massive whales surfaced near the boat, I couldn’t stop smiling. The air was fresh and cold, but the excitement made me forget everything else. The harbor area is adorable, with colorful houses and cafes serving the best hot chocolate ever. I also checked out the Whale Museum, which gave me a whole new appreciation for these gentle giants. Everything in Husavik just feels peaceful and friendly. It’s the kind of place where time slows down, and nature takes center stage in the most magical way possible.

Witnessing whales for the first time was an unforgettable experience. Thanks to the incredible excursion with @getyourguide, the Icelandic fjords offered a breathtaking encounter with these magnificent creatures. It's an adventure you simply can't miss!
