Departing from Sanjiang Chengyang Bazhai in Liuzhou, we drove all the way on the highway towards Hechi. As soon as we entered Hechi, a vast karst landscape came into view. Hechi is located in the northwest of Guangxi and the southern foothills of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, covering a total area of 33,500 square kilometers. Among this, karst landforms cover as much as 21,000 square kilometers, accounting for more than 60% of the city's area and one-quarter of Guangxi's total karst landforms. After driving about 270 kilometers, we arrived at Jinchengjiang, Hechi. Jinchengjiang is named after its waters and is an urban district under Hechi City. It was originally the seat of the Hechi municipal government. In 2016, the Hechi city government relocated to the newly established Yizhou District. Jinchengjiang is a beautiful mountain and water town, predominantly featuring karst landforms. This city is surrounded by green mountains and elegant peaks; no matter which street you are on, you can see mountains. Looking up on Baima Pedestrian Street, you see mountains; even from the window of the accommodation, the view is still mountains. The picturesque Jinchengjiang River quietly flows through the urban area. The Jinchengjiang River is actually the middle section of the Longjiang River, which originates in Sandu County, Guizhou Province. Its upper reaches include Libo Xiaoqikong. After flowing through Jinchengjiang District, the Longjiang River heads to Yizhou, then to Liuzhou where it joins the Liu River, then to Laibin where it joins the Qian River, then to Guiping where it joins the Xijiang River, and finally flows into the Pearl River, heading to the South China Sea. I have been to Libo and have always admired the diverse waterfalls and clear pools of Libo’s Big and Small Seven Holes. Hearing about Jinchengjiang in Hechi sparked my interest, especially when I learned that less than 20 kilometers northwest of Jinchengjiang’s urban area lies a place known as the "First Secluded Valley of the Zhuang Homeland" — the Little Three Gorges, which naturally became a must-visit spot. The Hechi Little Three Gorges is located on the upper reaches of the Longjiang River, within Liujia Town, Jinchengjiang District, Hechi City, and is also called Liujia Little Three Gorges. Nestled among karst mountains, it consists of Tianmen Gorge, Liangfeng Gorge, and Longmen Gorge, with a total length of about 12 kilometers. The entire route is toured by boat. The November sky was very clear. As the boat smoothly sailed through the emerald waters of the gorge river, the stunning and extraordinary karst landscape unfolded like a painting. The gorge is deep, the cliffs steep, the elegant peaks towering, bizarre rocks standing tall, and ancient trees lush and green. They display countless shapes and vibrant colors, and combined with the flickering reflections in the water, this mountain and water scenery reveals its ruggedness, beauty, and magic even more. Tianmen Gorge opens up the core scenery of the Hechi Little Three Gorges. Two towering peaks stand opposite each other on both sides of the Longjiang River, like two giant gates forming a perilous pass. As the boat moves, the view opens and closes intermittently. This perfectly matches the poetic scene by Li Bai: "The Heavenly Gate breaks the Chu River open, the clear water flows east and turns here. Green mountains face each other on both banks, a lone sail comes from the edge of the sun." Liangfeng Gorge is the deepest gorge. The towering mountains on both sides block direct sunlight from reaching the valley floor, and the cool breeze feels refreshing. The mountain on the right resembles a reclining woman, and a cave at its waist once held ancient hanging coffins. It is said that the burial items are now housed in the Guangxi Museum.
