With the completion and operation of the Welland Canal between Lake Ontario and Lake Huron, Hamilton built docks and successively opened ferry routes to Toronto, Kingston, and Niagara. With its geographical advantage of being connected to the Atlantic Ocean and the Great Lakes, the city quickly grew in size, becoming the ninth largest city in Canada. We had an amazing tour from Brugge to Amsterdam. The rooms were clean and quiet, and they alternated docking sides so everyone could enjoy the views. Although the beds were narrow, pulling them slightly away from the wall made them feel more spacious. USB ports and reliable Wi-Fi were available, though I did hear that guests in the aft-most rooms could hear the generator when shore power wasn’t being used. Chef Patrick introduced the dinners, and every meal was exceptional. Coming from a family of chefs, I can confirm the high quality of the food. Our guide Andre efficiently led the bikers and provided fascinating historical insights throughout the trip. Yolanda, our other guide, had excellent cycling expertise but seemed to lack local knowledge, which might be due to poor planning by the organizers. We did get lost during the trip, but her quick thinking turned it into one of the most memorable highlights. The bikes were quite heavy, and unfortunately, the e-bikes were not always fully charged in the mornings, which was disappointing. However, they were all in excellent mechanical condition, and there weren’t any mechanical issues during the trip that I was aware of. Every single staff member was cheerful, helpful, and genuinely happy to assist us, which made a huge positive difference. Don’t hesitate—book your spot now!

Converted from a quarry a hundred years ago, in a completely different style from Hendrie. Layers of stone steps, waterfalls, small bridges and mountain flower borders have a European garden feel and are relatively less crowded. The park is not big, but there are many details, changing the scenery as you move, it is perfect for taking pictures of the view while taking a quiet walk. 📅 Itinerary Day1:Went to Hamilton Day2: Used library resources Day3: Remained in Hamilton during the winter break 🏨 Accommodation: I stayed with family and friends, but also at Visitor's Inn (near McMaster University, where I was doing research) and also for one night at Staybridge Suites downtown. 🍴 Food Recommendations: Hamilton still has some good shawarma places scattered around, but you should avoid most of the suburban-style restaurants, which are overpriced and don't really have good food. As for bars / pubs, I highly recommend The Brain on James Street North. 📌 Tips: This was an awful winter in the city, but usually the weather is pretty moderate. If you're there in the winter, though, be prepared for potentially heavy snowfall.
