We had a very "European" dinner at the old wine cellar in OC.
Speaking of Fullerton, I immediately think of this highly recommended wine cellar restaurant 🍴 with its amazing atmosphere 👍. Located underground, the restaurant feels like stepping into an old European wine cellar as soon as you walk down the stairs. The dim lighting, candlelight, and wooden decor make it perfect for dates, anniversaries, or any evening where you want a touch of ceremony.
First, the atmosphere – I personally loved it. The space is quiet, vintage, and not noisy at all. The service is also at a leisurely pace, the kind of restaurant where you can eat and chat at your own pace. If you're someone who values ambiance above all else, this place will definitely be a plus.
We ordered Lobster Bisque, French Onion Soup, Filet Mignon, Rack of Lamb, bone marrow 🤣🤣, and several other dishes whose names I can't quite recall. Overall, I thought the flavors were okay, a bit on the salty side 🤣. The lobster bisque was mild, not the kind that's immediately intense, but it was smooth overall. The French onion soup was decent, but the cheese pull was a nice touch. For the main courses, the Filet Mignon was cooked to a good doneness, and the meat was quite tender; the lamb chops were okay, but not particularly surprising. The Bone Marrow was a more memorable dish, rich in fat, and very satisfying with bread.
Overall, I'd say the food was "okay, nothing special," no major disappointments, but not the kind of food I'd specifically go back for just to eat here 🤣🤣. If you're looking for a restaurant with a great atmosphere, this is a safe choice; but if you're expecting a "stunning taste," you might want to lower your expectations a bit.
In short: It's a great place for taking photos, chatting, and enjoying a slow-paced evening.
