Fonyod travel guide and discussion

Lake Balaton is a freshwater rift lake in the Transdanubian region of Hungary. It is the largest lake in Central Europe and one of the region's foremost tourist destinations. The mountainous region of the northern shore is known both for its historic character and as a major wine region, while the flat southern shore is known for its resort towns. I have already posted about the lake Balaton uplands. The major resorts on the south shore are Siofok, Zamardi, Fonyod, Balatonlelle, Balatonboglar, Balatonszemes, Balatonfoldvar, Balatonvilagos, Balatonaliga, Balatonkenese (East) etc. The lookout towers are the following: Sipos-hegyi lookout tower, Varhegyi lookout tower, Fonyod Kis-hegyi lookout tower, Balatonlelle Kohegyi lookout tower, Zamardi Panorama lookout tower (small like a toy), Balatonvilágos Soos-hegyi lookout tower, Balatonkenese The beaches are very enjoyable. #centraleurope #lookout_tower #travel #lake #beach

Fonyod is an other nice beach city on the southern shore of Lake Balaton. In addition to the Balaton bathing, you can also walk to two lookout towers, the Várhegy look-out tower and the Sípos mountain look-out tower. You can also continue training on the forest gymnasium, although the lakeside promenade is also sufficient for a run. Of course, you can also find shops and restaurants along the promenade. #beach #travel #park #lookout
