The old western-style houses in the Shanghai Conservatory of Music are absolutely stunning

🎀 The Shanghai Conservatory of Music is now open to the public! The six old western-style buildings in the school are more like beautiful musical notes, making the music that lingers in this hall of music even more melodious🎵 🎀 These six old buildings have different styles, including German, British, French, and modern styles, like a treasure trove of architecture. 1️⃣ Building B, No. 20 Fenyang Road (Pictures 1-6) Also known as the 'Expert Building,' it is my favorite among the six. The morning sun shines on the rough orange exterior walls, making it feel as bright as if I were on the island of Majorca. The garden house was built in 1909 with German regional style, partially featuring the art characteristics of the German Jugendstil. 2️⃣ Building A, No. 20 Fenyang Road (Pictures 7-8) Also known as the 'History Building,' it was originally a Jewish club and garden residence, in the French Renaissance style. 3️⃣ No. 1209 Middle Huaihai Road (Pictures 9-12) Also known as the 'City Music Salon,' it was completed in 1912 in the neoclassical style, with a two-story colonnaded porch on the main facade, originally the E.Z. Low residence. 4️⃣ No. 1189 Middle Huaihai Road (Picture 13) Also known as the 'Music Education Building,' it was built in 1936 in the English Tudor style, with beautiful oriel windows. Now the first floor is the Oriental Musical Instrument Museum. 5️⃣ No. 1199 Middle Huaihai Road (Picture 14) Also known as the 'Cooperation and Exchange Building,' it was built in 1930 in the modern style, with a simple facade and square doors and windows. 6️⃣ No. 1131 Middle Huaihai Road (Pictures 15-17) Also known as the 'Music Castle,' this garden residence in the German Bavarian style was built between 1905-1911.
