Shanghai Botanical Garden Greenhouse Exhibition

The exhibition greenhouse of the Shanghai Botanical Garden is located within the garden, covering an area of about 5000 square meters. The greenhouse has a maximum clear height of 29.4 meters and a minimum height of 6 meters. It integrates scientific research, science education, and sightseeing. It collects and exhibits tropical plants, setting up two major areas: a tropical rainforest and a four-season garden. According to the environmental conditions of plant growth, it features eight scenic areas: a blooming heart of flowers, deep valley springs, exploring the secrets of the heavenly pool, the fragrance of orchids and bamboo, the coiled dragon's roots, the coconut-scented bamboo building, the flower gate of the sky bridge, and the banana grove fruit appreciation. As one of the conservation centers for Chinese gesneriads, the Shanghai Botanical Garden Exhibition Greenhouse (I) has once again set up a special exhibition area for gesneriads. The entire site occupies about 50 square meters, using rocks for enclosure, paired with companion plants such as Begonia and ferns, and by raising the terrain to focus on displaying gesneriads with smaller plant forms and delicate flowers, such as African violets and beautiful lipstick flowers. This adjustment not only highlights the natural beauty of gesneriads but also showcases the rich conservation achievements of gesneriad plants at the Shanghai Botanical Garden.
