Chengdu Impressions Features: Pandas, Sichuan Opera, Bashu Tea Culture, Hotpot. When choosing a hotel room, it is recommended to choose one with breakfast included, as Chengdu breakfast places also open late, so you can start the day without having to look for a place to eat early in the morning and have a more substantial meal. The Panda Base (said to have around 200 pandas) is crowded on weekends, so it's suggested to visit on weekdays. Mornings are when the giant pandas are most active, and if you go when it's hot, you might not see many pandas. The pandas are relatively concentrated near the South Gate. After passing the Panda Tower, there are no more pandas to see. Bring some food and drinks, as there are not many options inside, and you can spend 1-3 hours there. Giant Panda Breeding Research Base (bring ID for entry) The base is located in the northern suburbs of Chengdu, and we chose to take the subway to Panda Avenue Station on Line 3. Exit from Exit D, walk 10 meters, and take the scenic area shuttle bus (2 yuan/person) to the South Gate. It is said online that you can take the panda special line from many places in the city, such as Kuanzhai Alley and Chunxi Road Taikoo Li, with a ticket price of 20 yuan. It feels like the journey is long, and by the time the bus arrives, the pandas may be asleep. The subway is economical, and the timing is also accurate. When coming out of the Panda Base, you can take this bus from the North Gate to Kuixinglou Street for lunch. Tickets are purchased through Ctrip for 55 yuan. Then bring your ID, and enter by scanning the ID/QR code. (You can also search 'Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Research Base' for online reservations, and then directly scan your ID upon arrival.) The Sun Nursery and Moon Nursery are where the pandas are born. It's crowded, so go early. The famous Hua Hua is in the Young Panda Villa. From the top of the Panda Tower, you can overlook the entire Panda Base. After the Panda Tower, there are no more pandas. Finally, exit from the North Gate, where the commercial area has not yet developed, with only a few souvenir shops open. Outside, panda headbands are sold for 8 yuan for 2. The quality is average. The sightseeing car is available for riding, with a ticket price of 30 yuan for unlimited rides. Decide at the time; if there are few people, take it, if there are many, walk. The scenic area is quite large, but walking through it is also acceptable. Lunch is settled at Kuixinglou Street, where you can buy a famous 'Tang You Guozi' for 5 yuan each, which is delicious here. 'Egg-baked cake' is also bought here, 4-6 yuan each, the sweet ones might taste better, I didn't like the green pepper and ham one I had, sweet is better. 'Ice jelly' is 10 yuan per serving, refreshing. If you have more time in the afternoon, walk directly from Kuixinglou Street to Kuanzhai Alley, and then go to People's Park. (These 3 places are very close, within walking distance) Kuanzhai Alley, since you're here, there is covered-bowl tea available for 28 yuan per person, it's best to enter just before the show starts, otherwise, you'll have to wait a long time. There are 3-4 such shops in Kuanzhai Alley. Any one is the same, I heard that the covered-bowl tea in People's Park is also good~~ In the evening, go to Chengdu's busiest commercial street—Chunxi Road, Taikoo Li, IFS. These three are in one area, just walk. My local classmate recommended the Jianshe Alley snack street, which is delicious and cost-effective, recommended to try Chengdu cuisine. Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum (9:00 AM—6:00 PM, stop selling tickets at 5:00 PM) 50 yuan/person, audio guide rental 25 yuan, 200 yuan deposit. Wuhou Shrine ticket 50 yuan/person. Audio guide 20 yuan/person, 200 yuan deposit, WeChat transfer available. Stop selling tickets at 5 PM, close at 6 PM, playtime 1-2 hours. Beautiful photos with the red walls. Bring a fan for photo ops! After visiting Wuhou Shrine, the adjacent Jinli also has its characteristics. The things sold here are more or less the same, it's not recommended to eat here. If you don't have much time in Chengdu, it's suggested to choose between Du Fu Thatched Cottage and Wuhou Shrine. Qingcheng Mountain: Taoist temple. Stay overnight in a homestay in the mountains.
