99% of people who visit Lijiang will miss this small town, yet it is the best viewing spot for the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Lijiang has three ancient towns: Lijiang (Dayan) Ancient Town, Shuhe Ancient Town, and Baisha Ancient Town. The most populous and prosperous is Lijiang Ancient Town, followed by Shuhe Ancient Town, but I have a particular fondness for Baisha Ancient Town. Baisha Ancient Town is the smallest of the three, with just two main streets intersecting. An archway gate is inscribed with the characters for 'Baisha', exuding a low-key and simple charm. It is the best spot to observe the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.
