Baotu Spring

Baotu Spring: One of the three major attractions in Jinan, located in Lixia District, Jinan City, Shandong Province. It is adjacent to Quancheng Square to the east and overlooks Wulongtan to the north, covering an area of 158 acres, and is the most famous among the seventy-two springs in Jinan. During Emperor Qianlong's southern tour, he praised the tea made with Baotu Spring water for its mellow and sweet taste, and conferred the title of 'The First Spring Under Heaven' on Baotu Spring. It is also the earliest famous spring in Jinan recorded in ancient literature. The spring eye of Baotu Spring is located in front of Luoyuan Hall in Baotu Spring Park. In the 20th year of the Republic of China (1931), the surroundings were built with stone embankments. After several changes, it formed a rectangular spring pool, 30 meters long, 18 meters wide, and 2.2 meters deep. It is adjacent to Luoyuan Hall to the north, next to Guanlan Pavilion to the west, with Laike Bridge to the east, and surrounded by a long corridor to the south. The spring water gushes out from underground limestone karst caves.
