The Tang-style temple is a rare sight

The Zhi Lian Jing Yuan temple is designed based on the 'Contemplation of Infinite Life Sutra' mural from Cave 172 North of the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang during the prosperous Tang Dynasty. The layout centers on a main axis, reflecting the symmetrical and balanced architectural style of the Tang era. A small portion of the construction techniques also adopts the Japanese 'Wa-yo' style. The entire building is constructed entirely of hinoki wood, making it the largest hand-built wooden structure in the world today.
