Beautiful Bulguksa Temple is Gyeongju

#tripblazers The current temple dates to 751 when Kim Daeseong commissioned it to honor his parents. Unfortunately, he would not see it completed as he died in 774 before completion. The temple was first destroyed (and monks killed) during the Mongolian invasion in the late 13th century. The Imjin wars saw the wooden buildings destroyed by fire but continuous reconstruction and expansion projects were completed between 1605 and 1805. A major restoration was conducted between 1969 and 1973 to bring the temple to its current form. For locations of Bulguksa Temple is 385 Bulguk-ro, Gyeongju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do.
