Walking along the China-Vietnam border line

Joined a group tour, checked into a place called Deng Liutun on the China-Vietnam border in the afternoon. Standing on the hotel's upper floors, the buildings and roads of Vietnam opposite were clearly visible. With nothing much to do, I took a leisurely walk along the border road, which was quite pleasant. Our country's 'fence wall' is tightly secured, with two rows of railings like guards, protecting the motherland's border line. The green river in the middle is called the Gui Chun River, shared by both countries. On the Vietnam side, houses are built right by the river, and the road extends along the mountain's contour. Through patches of banana groves and vegetation, I took photos of the river, the mountains, the road, and the houses, feeling a sense of novelty. I simply stood at a commanding height by the roadside, looking at this peaceful and tranquil border line, and suddenly remembered the counterattack in self-defense against Vietnam that took place here many years ago. Although it's been over 40 years, I still felt somewhat mixed emotions. It's absolutely true that unclear national boundaries can easily lead to wars! There's a 'Gui Chun River Scenic Area' by the village road. Walking along the road, there's a stone with 'Gui Chun River' inscribed on it, its origin unknown. Moving forward about three hundred meters, there's a boundary marker erected in 2001, numbered 837(1), where passersby stop to take photos and commemorate. The boundary marker is a sign of the border position and direction between two countries. The 837(1) we see in front of us belongs to our country, and the corresponding one on the Vietnam side is 837(2). Sometimes there are auxiliary boundary markers between the two main markers. Boundary markers are serious matters, representing the sacred and inviolable territory of a country. I walk on the China-Vietnam border line, occasionally looking towards Vietnam and then surveying our side. Although the landscape is the same, the feelings of people from different countries are not the same. As a Chinese, it is a matter of pride and honor!
