St. James United Church

St. James is such a warm, welcoming, inclusive, accepting and family oriented community church. I have always felt welcome here, have found solace here, and have made new friends here. Our ministers are youthful, open-minded and very friendly, and bring different styles and perspectives to our church's services and work. They all work well together and are actively involved with our congregation's work and in the larger community. Their open and creative methods of Christian teaching caters well to the interests children and youth through its Sunday School and youth ministry programs. I enjoy the variety of our services where they incorporate both traditional and contemporary elements: relevant readings and reflections relating to our times, music, songs and even liturgical dance created by some of our youth. St. James' congregation is indeed "A community of friends in faith" which practices the United Church's Christian faith through its progressive mission of openness and acceptance as Christ taught us. Many members of our congregation of all ages actively work together in our church's services and work, in holding fundraising events and the various other social activities and events which cater to the various interests and age groups within our congregation. Some are working with our clergy to continue to increase the openness and diversity of our church's community and work, to add more events and groups, and to attract more people to join our church community and its events.
