Ranzhuang Tunnel Warfare Memorial Hall and Site

The Ranzhuang Tunnel Warfare Memorial Hall (Tunnel Warfare Site) is located in Ranzhuang Village, Qingyuan District, Baoding City, Hebei Province, and served as a filming location for the famous movie "Tunnel Warfare." The site preserves the tunnel network and village landscape from the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression in its entirety. The existing tunnel network spans approximately 3,000 meters, with about 1,200 meters open to visitors, allowing them to experience the "underground Great Wall" where "every household was connected and every village was linked." The memorial hall features an exhibition area of 960 square meters, housing over 400 revolutionary artifacts and using audiovisual technology to recreate scenes of tunnel warfare. Above-ground relics include the ancient locust tree at the crossroads (bearing bullet holes), the iron bell, the watchtower, and the village environment of the Central Hebei Plain from the 1930s and 1940s. Combat facilities open to the public include 15 sites such as the underground command post, arsenal, hidden entrances, and traps, showcasing the wisdom of the soldiers and civilians during the war. It is a Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level, a Famous Historical and Cultural Village of China, one of the first groups of Traditional Chinese Villages, and a 3A-rated tourist attraction.
