Half-Day Tour of Tianmen Mountain

Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park The most important thing is to check the weather before you come! Otherwise, what you'll see is like in pictures three, four, five, and six. I went in late April when the weather in Zhangjiajie was very frustrating, with a whole month of overcast and rainy days. After waiting for two sunny days, the first morning was still shrouded in fog. I think it was because it had rained the day before, and only when the sun comes out the next day can the fog dissipate. This situation is more suitable for free travelers because you can wait! I waited until about one o'clock in the afternoon, and the fog gradually cleared, revealing the Tianmen Cave, otherwise, it would have been a wasted trip! 1⃣️ Route: The A and B lines of Tianmen Mountain have opposite transportation methods for ascending and descending the mountain. The difference is that the A line goes down 999 steps, and the B line goes up 999 steps, so I bought the A line ticket. 2⃣️ Accommodation: Stayed near the entrance of the Tianmen Mountain cableway, which was super convenient. Got up in the morning, had breakfast, and walked to take the cableway. 3⃣️ Itinerary: Took the cableway at eight in the morning, the cableway is very long, took about twenty minutes. Encountered a foggy day, a reminder to everyone, it's best to wear a raincoat on foggy days, it blocks the wind and is moisture-proof, and the mountaintop is wet and cold in the fog. Walked the West Line in the fog, basically like walking around on the road, saw nothing. Around ten-thirty, suddenly a gust of wind, and I could finally see the grass and trees on the mountaintop. Both the West Line and the East Line are half-circles on the mountaintop, about an hour and a half each, if time allows, you can walk both. To visit Yunmeng Fairy Summit, you need to buy another ticket for the cable car, which I didn't do. After visiting the West or East Line, pay attention to the signs, walk to the downhill escalator through the mountain, it was my first time riding such a long escalator, with a total of seven sections. After getting off the escalator, walk a short distance to Tianmen Cave, then there are 999 steps below, take photos of Tianmen Cave, and then continue to take the cableway down the mountain. There is a free shuttle bus at the entrance of the scenic area to the uphill cableway. Summary: The A line is: Ascend the mountain - Cableway Descend the mountain - Through-mountain escalator + 999 steps + Tianmen Cave express cableway + take a bus out of the mountain Reminder: On cloudy, rainy, or foggy days, it is recommended to bring a raincoat, as the mountaintop is wet and cold. Under normal circumstances, it takes about four to five hours to finish the tour, which is roughly half a day. If it's foggy, leave later, going too early you won't see anything, better to sleep a bit more
