The filming location of 'Detective Chinatown', the gathering place for the older generation of Chinese in Thailand—Thailand's Chinatown. You can head to Chinatown around four or five in the afternoon, and if you're not in a hurry, a city walk is highly recommended. On the way to Chinatown, you will see many company logos and business associations from the last century's Hong Kong movies. Most of the older generation of Chinese in Thailand are immigrants from Guangdong, and many of the architectural styles and cultures are somewhat similar to Guangdong. The most common shops in Chinatown are gold shops and bird's nest shops. There's one every few meters, which can truly be described as streets paved with gold🤣. Delicacies like bird's nests and shark fins, which are super expensive in China, are sold here at very low prices. ⚠️But be careful, as dry bird's nests might not be allowed to be carried back to the country, but canned drinks can be brought back in small quantities. As night falls, Chinatown becomes even more lively. The night market in Chinatown is full of delicious food, and this time I even found two Michelin snack shops, ✨Chen Yi Kway Teow and ✨Shang Wei Thai-style Youtiao. Both are super popular, with huge lines of people waiting. ✨Chen Yi Kway Teow: The signature dishes are pig offal kway teow soup and pig's trotter rice. Those who like this type of food should give it a try. ✨Shang Wei Thai-style Youtiao: Compared to Chinese youtiao, the Thai version is very small. We dip it in tofu pudding and soy milk, while they dip it in colorful coconut milk. It's somewhat like a dessert, tastes great, but is a bit pricey, 50🐖/portion, with only three small youtiao, not as affordable as in China. There's also a super popular grilled squid stall in Chinatown, the loudest voice on that street belongs to them🤣, with lines forming as soon as they open, extremely popular. I tried the recommended large squid for 180🐖/portion. The grilled squid itself doesn't have much flavor, the secret to its deliciousness lies in their sauce, drizzled with Thai sauce, cilantro, fish sauce, Thai chili sauce... mixed together, sour and appetizing. If you can't eat spicy food, be sure to tell the vendor, otherwise it will get spicier as you eat. At night, the neon lights of Chinatown light up, and the retro harbor breeze hits you in the face. Girls can put on harbor-style makeup and take photos here, every shot is photogenic.
