Fall in the English countryside 🍁

What if I told you everything you see on these pictures is located within a 40-min ride on the Metropolitan line from Central London? Welcome to Amersham - a small market town in Buckinghamshire, which also happens to be in Zone 9 of the city of London (according to the tube network anyway!). Now, I don't know how a place could be part of two different areas at the same time; but I considered my day trip as the easiest and quickest escape to the English countryside from London without technically leaving London 🤔 Anyway, Amersham is located within the Chiltern Hills - an area of outstanding beauty; so if you come by car, there are many places to wander through all around the town. I went by tube - last stop on one of the branches of the Metropolitan line - and it took me around 40-45 min from King's Cross (Zone 1 to Zone 9 in less than an hour is pretty impressive!). Amersham packed all the quiet, natural beauty and fresh air that I needed. I started my day at lunchtime with freshly made sushi - a healthy alternative to fish and chips perhaps - and then spent the afternoon in the old town of Amersham. To get there, there is a shortcut taking you through part of the green Chiltern Hills with gorgeous views in the distance and a feel of being far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Some of the shops and food venues were closed on the Sunday I visited, so next time, I would probably bring my picnic blanket and aim to get food from the numerous supermarkets instead.
