Thick powder snow, steaming hot springs, adorable penguins strolling, delicious Sapporo ramen—this 7-day, 6-night snow country trip was truly as beautiful as a fairy tale. The kids said this was the most fun place they've ever been and that they could talk about it forever. ❄️ The snow in Sapporo is incredibly healing On the first day, we leisurely strolled around downtown Sapporo. The Snow Festival at Odori Park was absolutely stunning, with huge snow and ice sculptures that looked magical when lit up at night. The kids rolled in the snow, built snowmen, and had snowball fights, getting their hair wet but refusing to go back to the hotel. Shiroi Koibito Park is a must-visit, perfect for families! You can tour the chocolate factory, watch the entire chocolate-making process, and even make cookies by hand. The kids made a heart-shaped cookie and said they wanted to bring it home to grandma. You can climb the Sapporo TV Tower for a panoramic view; the whole city covered in white snow is especially beautiful. The Music Box Museum is a must-visit, with all kinds of music boxes. When the music plays, it’s especially romantic. The kids picked a little train music box and loved it. The glassware at Kitaichi Glass is stunning, and you can try glassblowing. The kids made a small cup, which was a bit crooked but very meaningful. Don’t miss the sweets at Rokkatei—strawberry chocolate sandwich cookies are delicious, and we bought many as souvenirs. LeTAO’s cheesecake is also a must-try, melting in your mouth with a rich milky flavor. · -- ♨️ Noboribetsu Onsen is so relaxing We spent the last two days soaking in Noboribetsu’s hot springs, which was incredibly refreshing. At the Bear Park, you can feed the bears; the big bears wave their paws for food and are very smart. The kids had a great time feeding them. Taking toll roads can be very expensive in Hokkaido and thus, if you choose to take many toll roads during your trip, it would more cost effective if you buy the HEP Hokkaido Expressway Pass instead. From the expansive heights of the Silo Observatory, you can take in the entire view of Lake Toya and Mount Usu! Shikotsu Toya National Park Silo Observation Deck is more conveniently reached by car, as it is a 20-minute drive from the Lake Toya hot spring area. The observation deck is free of charge and features a large Toya landmark for photo opportunities, which looks quite beautiful. The Lake Toya Observation Deck also offers another way to enjoy the view: by taking a helicopter ride over the lake! Just imagining it is cool, though it's not cheap, so we didn't try it, haha.

This historic hotel is large in scale, featuring a swimming pool and a water park, making it a family-friendly vacation center. As soon as you step into the lobby, you will be stunned by the nearly 180-degree panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows. The lake view is absolutely stunning! Taking 100 beautiful photos is not an exaggeration. The view is so breathtaking that you could sit and relax for an entire day. The lobby's interior design does not resemble the traditional style of old hot spring resorts. After checking some information, it turns out that the first-floor lobby has been recently renovated, which explains the significant difference from the exterior. The room decor has not been updated. The double rooms are available in both Western and Japanese styles, featuring a slightly old-fashioned classical design. The rooms are spacious, measuring 28 square meters, and the healing lake view is the highlight. The price for a double room, including breakfast and dinner, is NT$5500, which is quite reasonable. The lakeside garden landscaping is very picturesque, with several apple trees planted in the garden. Toya Sun Palace has truly taken advantage of its prime location and the beautiful lake view. #2024mapped The Lake Suite Ko No Sumika ザ・レイクスイート湖の栖 We traveled to Lake Toya during our trip to Sapporo. We chose this inn because we heard that the view was wonderful. The view from the private hot spring in our room was really amazing and the atmosphere was so nice that we spent a lot of time in the room instead of going out much. The plan included breakfast and dinner, and I was really happy to enjoy Hokkaido seafood! Hokkaido, I am so good at choosing hotels. The hot spring is really comfortable. One night with two meals, including one night stay + unlimited buffet dinner, breakfast, and hot spring. Much better than the hotels I haven't been to for around 500 AUD (such as Queenstown in New Zealand, Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, Shangri-La in Sydney, etc.)! Cost performance, scenery, service, one night with two meals, private hot spring in the room, open-air public hot spring are indeed impeccable!
