Picardy travel guide and discussion

This is the LARGEST cathedral in the world, and OMG—it’s right in Beauvais! 😱 The sheer size is honestly unreal—it totally towers over everything around it. If you’re anywhere nearby, you NEED to make a detour for this epic spot. Trust me, it’s 100% worth it! Beauvais Cathedral (Cathédrale Saint-Pierre de Beauvais) is basically the king of all Gothic cathedrals, and walking inside feels straight-up magical. You’ll find it at Place Jean Hachette, 60000 Beauvais, France. Pro tip: It’s open from 10 am to 5:45 pm most days, but double-check before you go because it sometimes closes for special events.#underratedspots Don’t miss the FREE museum next door—you’ll get awesome local history and cool exhibits (bonus: perfect for your Insta stories! 📸). After you’re done, treat yourself to some classic northern French snacks at any of the cute nearby cafés. The pastries? Next-level delicious! So, if you want major jaw-drop vibes, cathedral selfies, and yummy food, Beauvais is where it’s at!

#worthitomot #Ault #BoisDeCise I drove from Le Tréport to Ault (20 min), parked at Ault-sur-Mer front (free off-season, €1.50/hour summer), and took the sentier littoral north 4 km to Bois de Cise—a wooded amphitheater where villas peek through pines above a shingle cove. The cliffs here are 80 m flint-and-chalk, less white than Étretat but more lonely. Bois de Cise has a hotel-restaurant (€18 lunch plate, card ok) and a tiny beach accessed by 200 steps. I walked back along the top edge through cow pastures—signposted but unrailed, so keep kids leashed. Mistake: I wore sneakers after rain; the clay path near Bois de Cise slips badly. Another mistake: comparing it to Étretat—Ault is raw Picardy, not postcard Normandy; judge it on silence, not arches. Worth it? Yes if you want the Channel cliff without the bus queues; no if you need cafés every 500 m. Question: is a free unstaffed woodland cliff better than a €10 parking Étretat experience, or does the lack of facilities hurt?

🖼️MUDO - Oise Museum MUDO - Musée de l'Oise You have to go there. The museum is free and they have a lovely garden. I even saw people taking wedding pictures there because the buildings and gardens are so beautiful. They exhibited renaissance art this time. I really enjoyed watching them. 📍1 Rue du Musée, 60000 Beauvais, France 🏞️Le Therain (Rivière a truites) The lovely stream of the town brings people a sense of peace. It’s nice to take a stroll by the stream and listen to its sound and watch the stream flowing by. 📍60000 Beauvais, France 🥧Boulangerie Victor Florent If you’re hungry, I recommend this bakery. They have the best raspberry tart I have ever eaten in my entire life time. I am so grateful to receive this as a gift from a woman😭❤️❤️❤️ 📍138 Av. Beauvais is a nice small town with friendly people and beautiful churches in the north of France. Take the bus 6 from Beauvais Tille Airport to Hotel de Ville to see everything you want to see in Beauvais. 🏰La Cathédrale Saint-Pierre This is the most famous spot in Beauvais. When you get there, you’ll know why it is famous. It’s so tall and all the painted glass windows are magnificently beautiful. Inside the cathedral, you’ll feel peaceful. You can sit there, meditate, or light up candles. It’s still unbelievable to me that humans can create such architecture back in the time. 📍85 Rue Saint-Pierre, 60000 Beauvais, France 🏰Saint-Étienne Church (Église Saint-Étienne de Beauvais) This church has beautiful sculpture and there are benches under the tree behind the church. You can go there to see and enjoy the autumn scenery and autumn breeze. 📍Rue de l'Étamine, 60000 Beauvais, France 🏰Mairie de Beauvais It’s in the city center and near it, there is a farmers market. The locals are super friendly. I received so much warmth from the people of Beauvais❤️ 📍1 Rue Desgroux, 60000 Beauvais, France #falladventures #europetrip #europe #francetravel #historicallandmarks #deliciousfood #历史古迹 #旅行酷体验 #旅行灵感 #france #francetrip

Ready to shake up your theme park routine? 🚀🌙 Here’s my quick guide to Parc Astérix in Plailly, Picardy – with a NIGHT twist! The Halloween party turns the park into a wild, spooky adventure you won’t get during the daytime. Bonus: there’s a legit zombie DJ keeping the vibe undead! 🎧🧟♂️ Must-See Rides: Pegasus Express – Parc Astérix. Fast, sleek, and loaded with awesome architectural details, this coaster is especially epic at night. OzIris – Parc Astérix. Egyptian-themed thrills and jaw-dropping modern design. Open year-round, with extended hours (check: 10:00–22:00 Wed–Sat). My Pro Tip: Save your visit for Halloween season. The nighttime experience is completely different – moody lighting, special effects, costumed performers, and events that bring an extra layer of excitement. Even if you don’t try every attraction, the whole park is buzzing after dark and it’s totally worth it. Getting Around & Practical Stuff: Parc Astérix is super walkable and easy to navigate after sunset. Public transport drops you nearby, but rideshare and car are also solid options if you’re heading out late. Remember: Buy your tickets ahead of time on trip.com, check opening hours (especially for Halloween events), and dress warm – nights get chilly! #ParcAsterix #HalloweenVibes #NightAtThePark #ZombieDJ #FranceFun#hellohalloween

#westerneurope The serenity of a peaceful wood juxtaposed with the remnants of war. Wish I'd had more time to wander the woods, to take it all in, to honor those who accepted they would not "live forever". Google says you can drive here through the American cemetery... you cannot. Nor can you walk it, theres a fence between the two places that's not on Google. But when you leave the cemetery it's a quick drive around the edge of the cemetery grounds to the center of the woods & the Marine Monument. Amazing. Very serene and beautiful here on a crisp fall day. So much history and significance for US Marines such as myself. Great place to have a quiet afternoon and enjoy nature and history and appreciate it. Marines, If you go to the Mairie (mayors office and museum) in the village of Belleau, ask for the key to the Devil Dog Fountain. It's just across the road from the office! Fill up your bottles and drink from history!!!

Perched on the English Channel near the border of Normandy and Picardy, Mers-les-Bains is a picturesque coastal town known for its elegant Belle Époque villas, dramatic white chalk cliffs, and old-world seaside charm. Together with Le Tréport and Eu, it forms part of the “Three Sisters” — a trio of towns that blend natural beauty with nostalgic architecture. A stroll along the Esplanade, lined with colorful 19th-century villas, opens up to sweeping sea views and the imposing cliffs that rise just beyond the beach. The atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly, with pebbled shores perfect for lounging, swimming in summer, and flying kites in the ocean breeze. ⸻ 📍 Central Address for Navigation: Esplanade du Général Leclerc 80350 Mers-les-Bains, France (The heart of the seafront promenade and architectural district) ⸻ 💡 Tips for Visiting Mers-les-Bains: · 🏖 The beach is pebbled, so bring water shoes or mats for comfort · 🏛 Walk the heritage route along the esplanade — look for Art Nouveau and Art Deco details on the villas · 📷 For panoramic views, hike or take the funicular to the cliffs from nearby Le Tréport · 🍽 Enjoy fresh seafood at a terrace restaurant overlooking the sea — mussels are a local specialty · 🧺 There’s a small open-air market on weekends for local goods and beachwear · 🚉 Easily reached from Paris Gare du Nord to Le Tréport-Mers (~2.5 hrs by train) · 🌅 Stay for sunset — the cliffs and water turn golden pink in the evening light ⸻ #MersLesBains #FrenchSeaside #BelleEpoqueVillas #NormandyViews #CliffsideCharm #HiddenGemsFrance #CôtePicarde #WeekendInFrance#localguides #historicallandmarks #trip #travel

I've just discovered what could be amongst the finest of settings for a picnic and the best way to kill a layover. I had about 9 hours of daytime before i flew off from Charles de guille airport. Turns out Chantilly, or more particularly the chateau complex is merely half an hour drive. The weather was perfect. I couldn't skip it. The gardens make for a great and well known picnic spot for domestic tourists. And with the benefit of being able to visit a fantastic castle and its collection, the overall experience elevates. This is a very well maintained castle. Love that it's got this huge country side like space and the vibe's relaxing. The garden space is top notch. All around i saw people laying on the grass and enjoying the good weather. You could visit the chateau too. The collection of paintings is brilliant. I wish i had carried a picnic basket, but I didn't want to miss this opportunity so i managed with whatever was on me in terms of snacks and cloth to put on the grass. Lots of families having picnics in this scenic setting. Beyond the gardens , I was so impressed that I booked a guided tour. The castle's decoration was tasteful and the collection very impressive. It was a very comfortable trip and I saw people with wheelchairs too. Very well maintained and managed facility. So, this can work for everyone. Highly recommended! #francetrip #mytravelhacks #layovers #summerdestinations #myhiddengems #100waysoftravel #europe

#2024WishEvent Photos were not allowed inside the show, so I couldn't take any, but the circus was really exciting and there was a lot to see. The price was also cheap at around 15 euros!!! Above all, the circus members performed with such passion that it was a really fun 90 minutes!!!!
