#ancientbuildings During my summer vacation, I had the chance to explore the Old Fortress of Corfu, and it was a fantastic experience! 🏰🌿 Located on the eastern side of Corfu Town, the fortress is easily accessible and offers stunning views of the Ionian Sea. The entrance fee was about €8, which felt like a bargain given the rich history and panoramic vistas. Walking through the fortress, I was struck by its impressive architecture and the sense of history that permeates every corner. The well-preserved walls and the various exhibits, including historical cannons and old maps, provided a deep dive into Corfu’s past. The climb to the top of the fortress was well worth it for the breathtaking views of the city and coastline. 🌅🗺️ After exploring the fortress, I wandered around Corfu Town, which is full of charming streets, vibrant markets, and cozy cafés. The old town is situated on the eastern side of the island and overlooks the beautiful glimmering waters of the Ionian Sea. Due to its history, the architecture in the old town is undoubtedly influenced by the Venetian rule giving it a very romantic feel ❤️. I love having a stroll especially in the evening! Don’t miss the visit to the old fortress! The fortress isn’t too big but bring your swim gear as you can also swim right by the old fortress right by Mandraki Gate. Such an amazing experience to be floating around in the sea and watch the sun set while the people on the yacht by the marina getting ready for dinner!
