Ancient City on the Mediterranean: Caesarea National Park
During my trip to Israel, I visited Caesarea National Park, a place I had always wanted to see. Stretching along the Mediterranean, this site is not just a collection of ruins but feels like an ancient city frozen in time.
As soon as you enter, you're greeted by the expansive ruins harmonizing with the blue Mediterranean Sea. It's truly fascinating and impressive to see such grand ruins right next to the sea. The Roman-era amphitheater and harbor ruins, in particular, are massive and give you a sense of the prosperity of that era.
Walking slowly through the ruins, the sea views accompanying you at every turn make the experience far from boring. The feeling of strolling through an ancient city while listening to the sound of waves is a rare and special experience.
With the refreshing Mediterranean breeze, it felt like walking through history, making it one of the most memorable places of my trip. If you want to experience both stunning scenery and history, this is a must-visit destination.

Caesarea, located on the Mediterranean coast of Israel, is an ancient city known as the filming location for the movie Ben-Hur. Standing amidst the majestic ruins with the blue sea as a backdrop, one feels as if they've stepped into a scene from the film.
This site was a thriving port city during the Roman era, and its well-preserved ruins include an amphitheater, a hippodrome (chariot racing arena), temples, and city walls. The amphitheater, especially, facing the sea, is still in good enough condition to host performances, leaving a lasting impression. Walking through the ruins while listening to the sound of waves creates an atmosphere unlike any other city.
Looking at the hippodrome while recalling the chariot race scene from Ben-Hur, it's easy to understand why this location was chosen for filming. The vast space combined with the remnants of the ancient city evokes a grand scale.

A Little Rome in Israel: Caesarea National Park
If I were to choose the most impressive historical site during my trip to Israel, it would undoubtedly be Caesarea National Park. Known as 'Caesarea' in Hebrew, this ancient Roman city is located right next to the Mediterranean Sea. The scenery, blending the sea with historical ruins, was truly unique.
This city was a thriving port during the Roman era, famous for its artificial harbor built by King Herod. It was considered a groundbreaking technological achievement at the time. Although only ruins remain today, gazing at the stone columns and the amphitheater against the backdrop of the blue sea evokes vivid images of its glorious past.
The Roman amphitheater, situated right by the seaside, is the highlight of this site. Its preservation is so remarkable that performances are still held here. Sitting in the seats and looking out at the Mediterranean, it felt less like a mere historical site and more like a living space.

A historic city embracing the Mediterranean
I visited Caesarea, a small coastal town in Israel. Unlike the hustle and bustle of big cities, this place left a strong impression with its tranquil and relaxed atmosphere.
Caesarea offers a picturesque blend of ancient ruins and the Mediterranean Sea. Rather than being overwhelmingly large, it exudes the calmness unique to a small town quietly nestled by the sea. Walking slowly along the stone paths, it felt as if time itself had slowed down.
This place, which still bears traces of an ancient Roman port city, gives you the feeling of stepping into history the moment you start walking.
Standing in the Caesarea Amphitheater, I could vividly imagine the performances and gatherings that must have taken place here in the past. It was particularly impressive that this space is still used for performances today, making it not just a relic to observe but a living cultural venue.
✔ A tranquil small-town vibe embracing the Mediterranean
✔ A walking course blending ruins and the sea
✔ Not overly crowded, perfect for a leisurely visit
✔ An ideal healing destination to include in a northern coastal itinerary
