By opening the glass doors, it can be used as an integrated space with the hall. The hall features an installation of many Japanese umbrellas hanging from the ceiling. We went to a hot spring inn in Awara Onsen, one of the most popular hot spring resorts in the Hokuriku region, where you can stay with your pet. This is a pet-first inn where pets are allowed in all areas of the building except for the large public bath. There are plenty of things to enjoy, including welcome treats for pets, a photo space, and indoor and outdoor dog runs. The large public bath is a hot spring, so pet owners were very satisfied with this inn. This hotel is located near the lake. It's about a 10-minute taxi ride from JR Awara Station. There's nothing around but the lake, and the hotel has a shop, but if you want something to drink or something, I recommend buying it at the station. There are two baths, and from both the large bath and the open-air bath you can slowly watch the lake as it sunset. I booked a room with a Western-style bed, but the Japanese-modern atmosphere was very nice. For breakfast and dinner, we had a course meal using local ingredients. There were many small children, so they were very considerate and made sure to welcome them. It's also recommended for families. Production is very limited, and it's rarely exported out of this region, making it both exceptional and rare. The Honmaguro (bluefin tuna) and yellowtail from this area offer excellent, bouncy textures. Moreover, the hotel uses large yellowtails weighing over 10 kg, which feature beautiful fat marbling. The Amaebi (sweet shrimp) served with roe is incredibly sweet. The grilled mackerel sushi is a must-buy for everyone because it's so tasty and not fishy at all. Try it, and you'll be amazed by how good it is. All these premium ingredients are gathered in one place and featured in this hotel's buffet. Crafted by the Head Chef of JAL's First Class, it truly elevates the culinary excellence here. If you are traveling to Toyama, Kanazawa, Nagoya, or Gifu, I highly recommend making a trip here. Honestly, compared to a well-known place like Ginza Happo, I personally think this is on an entirely different level. Plus, there's a free-flow buffet of beer, wine, sweet drinks, ice cream, snacks, chocolates, and coffee where you can just grab a treat, sit back, and relax for free at a scenic viewpoint overlooking the beautiful Japanese garden. The location is also close to scenic spots and the most interactive aquarium where you can watch the penguin parade, pet a giant octopus, and interact with seals. It's fantastic. As for the price here, we booked a room with a private viewing bathtub, which included breakfast and dinner, the snack buffet, onsen access, a game room, and karaoke. We booked via Trip and got it for 9,800 THB for two people. If you choose a standard Japanese-style room and catch a promotion, it could be even cheaper. I also recommend checking direct booking prices. This price is an incredible value. You can't even get just an A5 Wagyu steak anywhere else for this price, not to mention the crabs, onsens, and all-day snacks. I highly recommend checking in right at 3:00 PM to fully enjoy everything for a long time. Okay, let's take a look at the menu photos in the post. The neon-lit exterior evokes a Showa-era atmosphere, while the interior is compact yet immersive. The close distance to the audience and the emphasis on a lively atmosphere were impressive. For those looking to take their hot springs nightlife a step further, this is a memorable spot. Rather than being flashy, it has a stronger emphasis on "continuing Japanese hot springs culture," and can be said to be one of the places that symbolize the nightlife of Awara Hot Springs Town. During a trip to Awara Onsen, conveniently located near Awara Onsen Station, a stop on the Hokuriku Shinkansen, I visited this commercial facility on the first floor. The dining style here involves securing a seat first and then purchasing a meal ticket via a touch panel. I decided to make the most of my visit by choosing the Amaebi Bowl from the Mikuni seafood menu. What arrived was a lavish bowl featuring 12 neatly arranged amaebi. The translucent shrimp meat was tender and sweet, and dipping it in wasabi soy sauce enhanced its umami flavor. After savoring the shrimp meat, the correct way to proceed is to suck on the shrimp heads, enjoying the rich miso flavor to the fullest. The balance between the shrimp and rice was perfect, making it easy to finish the meal at a steady pace. This was a highly satisfying taste of Mikuni's sea bounty, conveniently available at a Shinkansen stop. I heard they serve pasta made with a whole snow crab, which is caught for only two months each year, from November to December, so I headed there without hesitation. The plate that arrived was a striking sight, with a snow crab shell perched atop the pasta. The crunchy, rich roe (inner and outer roe) and sweet crab meat intertwined with the tomato cream, creating a rich, savory experience. At Kappo Katsu in Awara City, we had a meal of snow crab (zubogani) + sashimi platter + grilled yellowtail collar + seared bonito + fried oysters + Echizen grated daikon radish soba noodles. This was my first time trying freshly molted snow crab, "zubogani" (water crab), which is only available for about a month from February to March. While not quite soft-shelled, the shell was soft and easy to peel by hand. True to its name, the flavor was high in moisture and juicy, characterized by a delicate and fleeting savory taste. 🦀 The sashimi platter was superbly fresh, and the grilled yellowtail collar had an exquisite amount of fat. The seared bonito had a good balance of savory flavor and umami, and the fried oysters were crispy on the outside and tender inside. A meal that allowed us to enjoy a wide variety of seafood delicacies. Of course, we finished with Echizen grated daikon radish soba noodles. The spiciness of the grated daikon radish and the aroma of the soba noodles soothed our palate, resulting in a stunning finish. While the menu doesn't list prices, the bill is clear and transparent. Staying at a hot spring inn is all about unwinding completely. The rooms at Okamoto are not very spacious but are clean, with serene mountain views outside the window. The highlight, of course, is the hot spring. The moment you immerse yourself, you feel your body relax as the warm water washes away all the fatigue from your journey. Dinner is a kaiseki meal, served dish by dish, with generous portions. After eating, you can stroll around the inn in a yukata and then enjoy another soak in the hot spring—this routine is simply perfect. In the morning, you can soak again, followed by breakfast, leaving you refreshed and rejuvenated. No need to plan any itinerary; just lazing around the inn is satisfying enough. It's an 8-minute walk from Awara Yunomachi Station through the city center. It's Isshintei, a pork cutlet restaurant. While Fukui is famous for its sauce katsudon, this one is called the "toji-nai katsudon," a bowl of rice topped with a soft-boiled egg. You can choose between soy sauce or sauce. The photo shows a chicken fillet katsudon with soy sauce. The cutlet was crispy, and the soy sauce broth added a nice flavor. Give this toji-nai katsudon a try.

The Yukake Matsuri (Water-Sprinkling Festival) is held every year on August 8th and 9th in Awara City, Fukui Prefecture. Food stalls begin setting up in the evening in the square in front of Yunomachi Station, followed by stage events. The main event begins at 8:45 PM on the 8th, when hot water rains down from a tower erected in front of the station and from a mikoshi (portable shrine) paraded down the street! Participants, armed with water guns and bathtubs, splash hot water on each other, both familiar and strangers alike. Even if you weren't planning on getting wet, you'll end up soaked! On the 9th, buns, bread, sweets, and all sorts of other things fall from the sky, and everyone reaches out to grab them!
