🍷🏛️ Bordeaux: A Timeless Blend of Wine, Elegance & Riverfront Charm
#mediterranean
Bordeaux is more than just the world’s wine capital — it’s a city that blends grand 18th-century architecture, dynamic urban energy, and refined gastronomy. Walking through the Golden Triangle, you’re surrounded by neoclassical facades, chic boutiques, and tree-lined boulevards. The Garonne River curves gracefully through the city, perfect for sunset strolls along the quais.
A visit to the Cité du Vin offers a high-tech journey into the world of wine, while the Place de la Bourse and its Miroir d’eau — the world’s largest reflecting pool — deliver unforgettable photo ops. Cozy wine bars and marchés offer local specialties like cannelés and oysters from Arcachon.
📍 Location: Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Southwestern France
🕒 Best time to visit: May to October (for vineyard visits and open-air dining)
💡 Tips:
· Take a day trip to Saint-Émilion or Médoc for a wine-tasting tour.
· Visit the Darwin Ecosystem, a creative space blending street art, eco-shops, and cafés.
· Climb the Pey Berland Tower for panoramic city views.

Off the Beaten Path in France: Arcachon – Dunes & Oysters.
🌊🌲🦪 Looking to escape the hustle and bustle for a place where the air smells of the sea, pine trees, and fresh oysters? Welcome to Arcachon, a cozy resort town in southwestern France, nestled right in the heart of the Bassin d’Arcachon. It offers the perfect balance of beaches, dunes, and incredible food.
🤩 What to see
✅ Dune du Pilat — Europe's tallest sand dune, offering breathtaking views of the Atlantic.
✅ Bird Island (Île aux Oiseaux) — famous for its wooden stilt houses and abundant birdlife. Accessible only via boat tours across the bay.
✅ Cap Ferret — a stunning peninsula renowned for its pine forests, sand dunes, traditional oyster-farming villages, and a red-and-white lighthouse with panoramic views.
✅ Winter Town (Ville d’Hiver) — home to nearly 300 luxurious 19th-century villas shaded by century-old pines. Step back into the Belle Époque era.
✅ The Promenade — the ultimate spot for a leisurely coffee while watching the yachts go by.
🦪 Gastronomy
Arcachon is world-famous for its oysters.
Taste them fresh off the boats at the port restaurants or the local fish market; maximum freshness is guaranteed. Pair them with a crisp glass of white wine 😋😋😋
🏃♂️ Active leisure
✅ Beaches: wide stretches of sand (Grande Plage, Plage Pereire) with gentle slopes into the water — perfect for families.
✅ Cycling: a rider's paradise. A vast network of bike paths hugs the bay, winding through pine forests straight to the Dune du Pilat (bringing you right to its base).
✅ Water sports: the bay's calm waters are ideal for paddleboarding and kayaking, while the Cap Ferret coast is a hotspot for surfing.
🚌 How to get there: Fly into Bordeaux Airport (Bordeaux–Mérignac), then it's just about an hour via a direct train or car ride.
🗺️ When to visit: June to September is prime beach season. May and September offer gorgeous, mild weather without the tourist crowds.
💡 Pro tip: It’s incredibly easy to combine this trip with a tour of the Bordeaux wine châteaux (just an hour’s drive away).
😊 How does this sound for your next vacation spot?

🏰 Carcassonne & Montpellier | A Journey Through Southern France
Today's drive covered 270 kilometres, linking two of southern France's most captivating destinations.
The first stop was the magnificent Cité de Carcassonne, one of Europe's best-preserved medieval fortified cities and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Surrounded by imposing stone walls, towers, and battlements, the fortress has stood for centuries as a symbol of strength and resilience. Inside the old town, lively squares, narrow cobbled streets, and traditional restaurants create a wonderfully timeless atmosphere. Enjoying local specialties such as duck cassoulet and perfectly grilled steak while listening to live music makes the experience even more memorable.
The journey then continues to Montpellier, a vibrant city where elegant plane tree-lined boulevards lead into a charming historic centre. Grand squares, beautiful architecture, cosy cafés, and a relaxed southern French lifestyle make it an ideal place to slow down and wander at your own pace.
📍 Location: Carcassonne & Montpellier, Occitanie, Southern France
🏰 Highlight: Medieval fortress meets elegant southern French city
✨ Feature: UNESCO-listed fortress, ancient city walls, live music, traditional French cuisine, tree-lined boulevards, lively squares, and historic streets
🍃 Atmosphere: Historic, vibrant, and effortlessly charming
📸 Best for: History lovers, architecture photography, road trips, and food enthusiasts
💡 Travel Tip: Spend the morning exploring Carcassonne's medieval citadel before enjoying a leisurely afternoon wandering Montpellier's beautiful old town.
✨ Signature feeling: Walking from the mighty stone walls of a medieval fortress to the sunlit boulevards of one of southern France's most elegant cities.
Some journeys don't just connect places—they connect centuries of history in a single day. 🏰☀️✨

A getaway to the Pyrenees
A great place to disconnect from the city and, especially in summer, enjoy cooler temperatures with the stunning views of the Ossau Valley.
The Gave du Brousset runs through the upper part of the valley, winding its way through the landscape until it flows into the beautiful Lac de Fabrèges.
Just a 2-hour drive from cities like Zaragoza or 1.5 hours from Huesca, this is a perfect day trip that will definitely leave a lasting impression.
There, you can enjoy the stream, take a swim in its refreshing waters (be careful — it’s very cold!), and sunbathe on the grassy slopes surrounding the valley.
To complete your trip, just 20 minutes away you’ll find Laruns, where you can enjoy some delicious traditional French cuisine and make the most of the local gastronomy.

Bayonne Walks☀️
Exploring Bayonne in Aquitaine was an absolute treat – think grand Gothic cathedrals, peaceful cloisters, and that quintessential French sunshine vibe 🌞. This compact historical town packs serious punch when it comes to must-see spots, all walkable and dripping with Old World charm!
Top Spots to Visit in Bayonne
Cloître de la Cathédrale (Pl. Louis Pasteur, 64100 Bayonne)
Step inside for some serene vibes – this beautiful cloister offers immaculate gothic arches, lush greens, and the kind of calm that’s perfect for strolling or snapping photos between 09:00–12:30 or 14:00–17:00.
Bishop of Bayonne (16 Place Monseigneur Vansteenberghe)
History lovers, don’t skip the Bishop’s residence! Open weekdays 09:00–12:00, 14:00–15:30, the building’s façade and tranquil square make for a quiet pause and some understated architectural flex.
Cathedral Sainte-Marie de Bayonne (15 Rue des Prébendes)
The heart of Bayonne! With its soaring spires and stained glass, this UNESCO-listed gem is open every day (Mon–Sat 08:00–18:30; Sun 08:00–19:00). Plan for early morning or late afternoon to beat the crowds.
Getting Around:
Bayonne is super pedestrian-friendly – comfy shoes are your friend! Most sights are within a 10-minute walk. The riverside parks are perfect for chilling on sunny days (great for that baguette picnic shot 🌳🥖).
Food Rec:
Definitely sample the local bread – soft, crusty, and so fresh even the park birds check it out. Outdoor bakeries near Place Louis Pasteur have the goods.
Tip:
Bring a bottle of water and pack snacks – you’ll want to linger in the outdoor spaces or the cloister gardens if the sun is shining.

✅ Crescent Bay Lone Tree 🌳
· Known as “Suzhou’s loneliest tree”

Espelette — A Charming Basque Village Beyond the Coast🌶️🇫🇷
Located in the southwest of France, at the foothills of the Pyrenees mountains and only about 25 minutes by car from Biarritz, Espelette is one of those villages that instantly captures your heart. Famous worldwide for its iconic Espelette pepper, this small Basque village offers a perfect mix of gastronomy, culture, and authentic local atmosphere.
The village center is lively and welcoming, with a pleasant pedestrian street lined with charming shops, local boutiques, cafés, bars, and traditional restaurants. Everywhere you look, you’ll see strings of bright red peppers drying on the white-and-red façades of Basque houses — a unique and colorful signature that makes Espelette truly special.
Of course, food lovers will be in paradise. Many stores sell pepper-based products directly from local producers, from spices and sauces to chocolates, cheeses, and cured meats infused with the famous piment d’Espelette.
While the Basque coast is undeniably beautiful, visiting Espelette is a wonderful way to discover the inland side of the region — rich in traditions, landscapes, and local flavors. It’s a must-stop destination if you want to experience the authentic soul of southwest France beyond the beaches.#france #southwest #travel

Woburn Center Parcs
Great time at Woburn Center Parcs with the gang followed by a casino night, would highly recommend!! The laser quest was a big hit and the rapids and the pool was also great. Had a great curry there as well but maybe it's more tailored for the younger visitors around 6-14 aged maybe but is a great laugh and a cheap get away for a group of young adults

Pastry desserts you've never seen in Korea in Osaka?! grenier🍰
📍1 Chome-3-8 Doshomachi, Chuo Ward, Osaka, 541-0045 Japan
📍 10:00 - 19:00
Creme brulee mille-feuille filled with custard cream! The pastry pie is filled with cream, but it's not too greasy, so it's so delicious, right?! It might be too greasy to eat all of them, but if you eat the lemon meringue mille-feuille, the custard cream and meringue will make it taste even better because they're refreshing. 🫶
✔️ There are prices
✔️ There's no seating inside the cafe🙅🏻♀️
✔️ In addition to the pastry mille-feuille, there are various desserts such as financier meringue cookie tea!
✔️ There's also a menu with gelato!🍨
I went to eat before eating, but it was so delicious! It was a bit sloppy towards the end, but there was a lot of it. Haha
