Let me first describe Pig's original 7-day itinerary: Day 1: Xining, Riyue Mountain, Qinghai Lake, Chaka Salt Lake, overnight in Chaka Day 2: Chaka, Chaka Salt Lake, Emerald Lake, overnight in Golmud/Da Qaidam Day 3: Golmud/Da Qaidam, U-shaped Highway, Water Yadan, overnight in Da Qaidam Day 4: Da Qaidam, Heidushan, Petroleum Town, overnight in Dunhuang Day 5: Dunhuang, Mogao Caves, Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Lake, overnight in Dunhuang Day 6: Dunhuang, Jiayuguan, Rainbow Mountains, overnight in Zhangye Day 7: Zhangye, Qilian Grassland, Gangshika Snow Mountain, Menyuan Rapeseed Flowers, Xining Most travelers seeing this itinerary, with only two attractions per day and long local daylight hours, should be able to complete it smoothly. However, the driver I encountered started telling me from Day 1 not to go to Emerald Lake, saying the scenic area was too small and not worth visiting. He also said that the journey on Day 2 was too long, and the time for driving and sightseeing was simply not enough. So, on Day 2, we skipped Emerald Lake and stayed overnight in Golmud. On Day 3, after visiting the Water Yadan National Geological Park, we stayed overnight in Lenghu Town for convenience when visiting Heidushan the next day. On Day 6, we only viewed Jiayuguan from a distance; the driver said that if we went inside, there wouldn't be enough time to see the Rainbow Mountains. I don't know if it was a problem with my driver or what, but if this route really can't be completed in one day, the vendors shouldn't have included it on the itinerary, or some attractions should be marked as only viewable from a distance. Also, the Northwest Grand Loop involves long daily drives, so I don't recommend using an electric vehicle. We had to stop for 40 minutes each day to charge, and we couldn't keep the air conditioning on for long. Although there are many charging points, the driver, who charges an all-inclusive rate, will compare the cheapest charging spots. The cheapest charging stations have long queues. Many attractions allow drones, so it's best to bring your own. The vendors said the driver would provide one, but my driver didn't have one. Don't completely trust reviews; the driver is paid based on positive feedback, so there are very few negative reviews. Driving over 3,000 kilometers in 7 days was really rushed.
