Walking into Spring Blossoms: Gallop into Prosperity at the Flower Dome felt like stepping into a carefully curated Chinese New Year landscape.
This year's exhibit centres on eight life-sized illuminated horse lanterns, handcrafted by artisans from Zigong, Sichuan, using traditional lantern-making techniques with roots tracing back to the Tang Dynasty. Inspired by Ba Jun Tu (八骏图), the horses symbolise strength, perseverance, momentum and success for the Year of the Horse.
The surrounding display features over 10,000 plants, arranged in the style of classical Jiangnan gardens, complete with moon gates, pavilions, cascading water features and limestone rockery. Floral highlights include plum blossoms, orchids, chrysanthemums and bamboo - the “Four Gentlemen” in Chinese art - alongside seasonal blooms such as azaleas and dahlias.
Housed within the climate-controlled Flower Dome, the exhibit combines horticultural expertise with cultural symbolism, offering a calm and immersive way to mark the Chinese New Year season.
