Menyuan rapeseed flowers are located in Menyuan County, Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province. It is the largest rapeseed planting area in China, covering an area of 500,000 mu. When the flowers bloom, the mountains are covered with golden flowers, which is a spectacular sight. From July every year, the rapeseed flowers here are in full bloom. The flowering period is from July 5 to 25, and the best flowering period is from July 10 to 20.

Menyuan Flower Fields (门源) - Qinghai

The Menyuan Flower Fields are a spectacular sight to see and is the largest rapeseed (canola) plantation in Northwestern China. The glorious fields spread out in every direction and stretch from the snow-capped mountains to the horizon. June-July is the best time to visit as this is when the flowers are in full blossom and snow still falls on the high mountain peaks creating a stunning contrast. Getting There - Travel to the flower fields is possible by high-speed train or by car. When traveling from Xining city, the train takes around 30 minutes. The 3 hour journey by car from Xining is beautiful and takes you over a high mountain pass where it is possible to stop at a lookout point. Food & Restaurants - There are many local restaurants in the nearby village. The local Muslim restaurants are highly recommended where you can fill yourself with sensational lamb (羊肉), potato dishes (土豆片) and noodles.
