Upon checking in, was given keys to a room that was already occupied & walked in on someone. Went back for keys to new room, keys didn’t work. Had to go back a third time to get keys that worked. Finally got into the room after that. Before I list the negatives, I would rate the room itself 4/5 stars. It was quite clean (though a bit worn and dated in some respects), and had a full kitchen. Definitely needs some more utensils and pots and pans. Air conditioning worked wonderfully. Water pressure was decent, hot water sometimes look a long time to come. Toilet would sometimes run. Tub and shower was spotless. There is no hot breakfast, it is “grab and go,” which I didn’t bother with the entire time I was there. Laundry room was filthy and not big enough to serve the entire property. It was often tough for me to get parking right near the building I was staying in. Noise was a bit of an issue for me. The hotel is directly across the street from a fire station, so you here constant sirens. It is also right off of a busy road so you constantly here vehicle and traffic noise. I was woken up one night at 2am by people hanging out outside of their room, drinking and talking loudly. Safety was the biggest concern for me. Some of the people staying there seemed very shady. One of the days I returned to the hotel after being out all day, there were two police cars in the parking lot. I was told they were there to “remove” someone. Didn’t make me feel very safe. The last night I was there, there were two guys in the room next to me standing outside and smoking ****. Lastly, it’s not as close to Chicago as I thought. It took a good 45 mins-hour to drive to downtown, it is about a 33 mile drive. The area around the hotel is nice, but boring. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.
