One night stay while visiting North East Coast. Amazing room “The Leven” which was beautifully furnished and fabulous views across the gardens and Leven Valley. Every member of staff that we encountered went above and beyond whether it was directions, recommendations for places to visit or dishes to choose. Special mentions to Jamie, Martin, Bruno, Gloria, Eli and Krista and another receptionist who I’m sorry I didn’t catch your name. Food was outstanding at both breakfast and our evening meal, compliments to the Chef. Returning from our evening meal it was such a lovely touch that turn down had done all the usual things but the extra mile here were the dimmed lights and classical music. Both my college friend (of 50 years) and I felt so special and well looked after and most importantly as two senior ladies travelling we felt incredibly safe. Thank you for our wonderful stay, we will be back! There are so many more of your recommendations we need to explore, one night was just not enough

My husband booked this as a big treat for us after having a bad few months. We was really looking forward to it. The curtains and bedding was ripped. We booked a super king bed and it was 2 single beds ( my husband complained and was told it was a zip and link bed, all rooms are like it) the zip wasn’t zipped up as there was a big gap in the middle of the bed and you could feel the edges of the mattresses. I think this needs putting on the website when booking. If we had wanted 2 mattresses pushed together we would have booked a cheaper hotel. We paid extra for a nicer room and it felt we had been put in the worst room they had as there was a big wedding on. There was no beautiful views, it was a small window over looking the entrance and it didn’t have a roll top bath. We knew rooms could have 1 feature and ours was obviously a fire place. The lady serving breakfast in the morning was really nice and friendly just a shame the fried eggs wasn’t cooked properly and the bacon was hard like cardboard. The gentleman that served us in the bar was also very nice.

Had a quick one night stay to take advantage of the spring offer with a room upgrade and a complementary bottle of Champagne. Like other reviews have stated this is a fantastic historic hotel in its own right, but its the staff that make it so special. The porter Elli saw us in the car park and took our luggage up to our room before we had even checked in, We had stayed at another Hand Picked Hotel a week before where we had requested additional Peppermint tea bags as they are my wife's favourite. Upon entering our room we found they had prepared a special peppermint tea tray with loose leaf peppermint tea, a strainer and teapot, it was really appreciated. We had an evening meal in the restaurant where I always enjoy trying new things followed by a great cooked breakfast where they managed to find some black pudding even though it was not on the menu. Hand Picked may not be the cheapest hotel chain but we think they are excellent value for money.

My wife and I had a date nigh meal on a Saturday evening. Fantastic friendly service, quality food and wine from an extensive menu in fantastic opulent surroundings. It is becoming a regular venue for us. The grounds are also very scenic and good for an after meal stroll.

Lovely afternoon tea. Would have been 5 star but some of the bread on the sandwiches was a bit dry. Otherwise scones were lovely and light, we had to take 2 x home. And all the cakes were amazing, very tasty and not too heavy. As a bonus staff very friendly and attentive. We would definitely return.

Such a beautiful hotel in a wonderful countryside setting. The staff are all exceptionally friendly and very professional. I’d like to give a special mention to Martin and Elie - they were superb and offered first class service throughout the weekend.

Wonderful family celebration for my parents 70th Wedding Anniversary. The lunch was delicious and the staff made the whole occasion very special for us all. We had a lovely table in the window over looking the beautiful gardens. Martin and his team gave excellent service. My parents were thrilled

First time staying at Crathorne Hall and definitely won’t be our last. Although we were travelling for a funeral we found the hotel staff so helpful, accommodating and caring they actually made our stay as enjoyable as we could have hoped. We stayed for three nights, we both said we wanted to stay longer to unwind, the hotel has a very relaxed feel with first class service. The food was excellent, I sincerely congratulate your chefs be it at breakfast or fine dining in the restaurant everything was just delicious. We booked a feature room, it was immaculately clean and very comfortable. Thank-you to all the staff you are all a credit
