Didn’t stay here but popped in tonight for some food. Staff were super friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. We had a burger, steak and fried brisket with cheesy potatoes - all delicious. Desserts - sticky toffee and white choc Malteser cheesecake - also delicious. Lovely place to enjoy a quiet meal, really nice decor and atmosphere without being pretentious. Will definitely be back to try more and a Sunday lunch very soon. Bit cold for outside seating at the moment but lovely spots when the sun is a little warmer. Thanks for a lovely meal!

I went here with my family for my mums 52nd birthday. The food was amazing. The Panini’s were big and tasted really good. We (my mum and I) had the goats cheese and onion one. My Nan had the small fish and chips. It was massive though so definitely enough for a normal portion. She loved the chips. My Gramp had the special of the day pie which was a lamb one. He loved that it had big chunks of meat and not just full of gravy. He said it was juicy and tender. Best pie he had ever had. My dad had the liver which was cooked to perfection and had very nice sauce. We were so impressed with the food so we all had puddings which were made to order as they were able to take the cherries out the crumble and make a fresh one. It was all to die for especially the cheesecakes 😋😋. Staff were very friendly and the place had a very good atmosphere. This place was recommended by a friend but I will be recommending this place to all my friends. Definitely a place people should go!! Thank you for a good meal, - Jess x

Really can’t fault this place. My accommodation was tip-top, very clean and stylish. There was a very welcoming fire in the pub itself and both meal and beer were first class. The staff were also very helpful and friendly Would definitely come again!

What a fantastic place to stay. The room was spotless, spacious and warm with everything you could wish for. The staff were some of the friendliest we have ever met, especially Georgie who went out of her way to help us. The breakfast was so good, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs and a full English that was superb. Fabulous fresh coffee too! We highly recommend this hotel to anyone and will definitely be back.

My husband and I went to dinner at the Talbot with some friends and we had a wonderful experience. The venue is beautiful, the service is excellent and the food was gorgeous. My husband and I are vegan and Stewart very kindly offered to make us a beautiful mushroom and vegetable pie! It was so wonderful to see a chef who actually cared and made a huge difference to our eating experience. This very very rarely ever happens when we go out for dinner. Stewart, thank you so much. The food was amazing and the fact that you kindly offered to make us something that was not on your menu is so so appreciated by myself and my husband. Can’t wait to see you all soon.

Lovely meal, served by friendly efficient staff. The restaurant was busy with Christmas parties but we were served in a timely manner and none of us could fault the food or the service. The pub was decorated very nicely too.

Absolutely perfect - in every way Travelling from Scotland to Oxford for a couple of days with work I initially looked at staying in the city and then after seeing the Talbot Inn (a 15 min bus ride away) online I quickly changed my mind and I'm so glad I did. I picked up a hire car and drove from Luton Airport (super easy) and arrived late morning to a lovely welcome - friendly and inviting. Parked up (in large car park) and unpacked in a beautiful and freshly decorated twin bedded room, grabbed a quick shower (big fluffy towels and fancy double rain shower!) before deciding to abandon the car and hop on the bus (stop immediately outside) into Oxford for some meetings. Booked dinner in the restaurant for the evening and it was absolutely first class. Lots of choice, fresh local produce and delicious. Busy with local customers on a Tuesday evening always tells a good tale! Booked again for the Wednesday evening and once again wasn't disappointed! Yum. As a frequent traveller (work and personal) it is rare to find a gem like the Talbot Inn. One which ticks every hospitality box - excellent food, friendly staff AND customers, comfy beds, a room offering a desk big enough to work comfortably, sympathetically decorated with lots of lovely touches (see photos), ample parking, delicious breakfasts, ooh and it's on the Thames Walkway so perfect for walkers and their pooches! Thank you all. Next time I'm in the area I'll definitely return!

First, I would just like to say this review is based on the experience I had whilst staying at The Talbot Inn. All I can say is that I had an absolutely fantastic stay. The room was spotlessly clean . The shower room had shower gel, ect, and was also spotlessly clean. Tea and coffee facilities are available with some biscuits and 2 mint chocolates. This is replenished every day , bottled water is also supplied. If you would like fresh milk, this can also be provided . All the staff are so friendly and accommodating ,the restaurant and bar area are spotlessly clean and the food was excellent . I would definitely stay here again without a doubt. 100%
