Great experience, first-class hotel service. The facilities are also very complete. Water is freely available in the hotel lobby. There is a bonfire in the evening. If you want to roast marshmallows, you can ask at the front desk. We unexpectedly met 🦌 and 🐻 on the road next to the hotel. All in all a perfect experience

We came on Saturday to have a drink at the bar in the afternoon. Considering the prices of the drinks, you would think the service would justify the prices. Unfortunately it was not the case. We sat at the little table across from the bar, 2 bartenders, 3 guests at the bar and the bartenders didnt even looked at us. I couldn't believe this, no acknowledgment by any kind. After 10 minutes, we asked the girl (another guest) sitting there too. She said she was waiting for 30 minutes before anyone came to her but she stood up and went to get a server. The gentleman looked like we are a bother to him, he asked if we want food menu, we said just drink menu and he left saying he will bring water and take our order. He took our order (water was never brought), then he brought the drinks which he spilled. He cleaned the table, not the glasses, and left. There was no table cloth, not even napkins, no snack of any kind. Needles to say for over $100 for 3 drinks, this is unacceptable. The bartenders never made any eye contact, never said a word or looked our way. The wait staff was not friendly, kind of accepting that they have to serve us. The only friendly and welcoming employee we encountered was the doorman. This young kid (I wish I remembered his name) was fantastic. Mayflower Inn unfortunately is not what it used to be but this experience was truly disappointing. You dont expect this type of service anywhere, less so in a place that once upon a time had class.

Beware: The spa here will maintain the 24 hour cancel policy no matter what. I purchased a $1,000 gift card to enjoy a half day spa/massage for my wife's birthday. However our child was sick that morning so at 7:15am I notified the manager of the spa. He was kind enough not to charge the "entire 550 per person for all services" and instead charged $370 for a total of $740. I can't remember the last time a hotel or spa was this inflexible, regardless of stated policy.

When you are spending a LOT of money on one night in a special inn in the beautiful Connecticut countryside, you expect excellent service. And you hope for a relaxing night with no stress. Unfortunately, on our first visit to the Mayflower Inn, we did not receive it. Upon arriving and checking in we were told we were in a building across the street. The staff member offered to walk us across but as we only had two small bags and didn't need help, we asked which building? She pointed to the one on the left. We walked up (in snow and wind) and could not find Room 10 anywhere. My spouse walked back down to the front desk and asked for better directions to Room 10. The clerk said, "oh! You haven't been to your room yet? Did you go down to the basement?" Obviously not. Another staff member then pointed out the correct building, on the right and we were able to access our room. Room 10 is two rooms, a large living area with fireplace and large bedroom with fireplace. Two large bathrooms and a patio complete the space. Very pretty decorations and comfortable. Odd placement of the TV, not over the FP in front of the sofa. You have to turn and align to the left to watch it. We were very off put by the large beetle in one toilet. We couldn't figure out how it got there until the next morning when we saw a swarm of lady bugs on the curtain next to the toilet. Eww. We dined at the Inn and had a lovely experience. However, we were quickly brought back down to earth, when we walked up to our room (on a path only partially cleared of ice and snow) to find our room key did not work! Note: they are very proud to explain the keys have no numbers on them for security reasons. My spouse trudged back down to the front desk, they gave him another key-he walked back through the cold...and new key also does not work. At the point we are irritated and cold. We call the front desk and they promise to send someone. it was about 25 minutes of being unable to gain access to our room before a maintenance man was able to unlock the door. The next day they delivered a key to the spa while we worked out. We had to laugh when that key didn't work either! You would think for $1800 for one night, service would be top notch and bend over backwards to ensure your stay is excellent. They didn't. We even explained our displeasure at the key situation and received a shoulder shrug in response. We work hard for our money and really had been looking forward to a stress-free stay. We did not get it. Overall not impressed with the Mayflower Inn and certainly don't consider it a 5 star hotel.

My husband and I had a perfect 5 day stay at The Mayflower Inn! The Inn and Spa are absolutely beautiful, as is the inspiring country setting, Our room was lovely, the restaurants were wonderful, the Spa services were amazing, and we enjoyed sitting and reading by the beautiful fireplace in the library. The entire team was so warm, welcoming and professional; the service was excellent in every way!

I frequented the Mayflower in past years...The staff was amazing, the food was phenomenal. I actually think April Bloomfield was the in-house chef at one point. It was that place that you didn't mind spending money, because when you left you were so blown away, that it didn't matter. Then...I dont know if this is because of being bought by Auberge Resorts or the Management staff they hired, but little by little the once amazing Hotel/Restaurant became less desirable! The management was a bunch of young kids, looking like they just graduated from college. Who have zero life experience and no idea how to handle this level of issues. I was there more recently and was so disappointed. The food was not what it used to be, the cocktails were not nearly as innovative, the staff was standing around looking like they had zero idea what to do. A bunch of "kids" were congregated at the host stand having...what looked to be a party. Not paying attention to what was going on and it was sad! This used to be a place of prestige and grace. This used to be a place people would travel long distances to enjoy. All because of how professional the staff was and the level of service provided was so notable. There was also a time when the staff would NEVER tell the guests "No". They would go out of their way to make your "experience" unforgettable. Now, the word "No" is the main word within their vocabulary. So, to pay $1000 to dine as if I am at the GW Tavern is not worth it. For all of that I may as well go to the GW Tavern, because I at least know the food quality and what to expect when I am there. There is a missing link in the chain somewhere and you need to find where it is and fix it, because you are loosing the "Special" and "Unique" quality that once made the Mayflower great. With all of the memories I have had dining at your establishment over the years. It upsets me to see how much has changed and not in a positive way.

We spent the better part of a week in the library suite in Standish Cottage. Simply a beautiful place. The natural setting is magnificent, the rooms are lovely, the breakfasts are great, and the service is solid. We thought our two small children (ages 2 and 5) might not fit in, but many of the guests were youngsters. It’s a decidedly family-friendly place. Our children especially loved family swimming (8–10 am) in the incomparable Spa’s pool. (As exceptional as the hotel is, the Spa is even more so. With the caveat that I’m not exactly as aficionado of high-end spas, I will say I’ve never seen a nicer one.) One other thing: I have spent a lot of time in New England, and I’m not sure I’ve ever visited a more perfect New England town than Washington, Connecticut. (Maybe Salisbury, Connecticut.) I loved the Gunn Library and Hickory Stick Bookshop. Really, really charming.

My wife and I have been coming to the Mayflower for years now. It never disappoints. Perfect for any holiday season, but Christmas is so special there. They create such a warm festive atmosphere. My child also loves the indoor pool in winter. 5 star resort. Rooms are beautiful. Views are stunning. It’s also great to go in summer, bc if you are from the northeast, it’s always a lot cooler there because of the altitude.
