Hotels near Vomo in Vomo Island

We have just returned home from 11 days of complete bliss on VOMO Island, and we cannot wait to return. As a very large group of 29 made up of adults, infants, toddlers, tweens and teens I must admit I wasn't sure how they would manage such a diverse bunch, but they did it with ease. Within a day or two the staff and management knew us all by name, they knew our coffee orders, our favourite drinks, the activities the kids enoyed, and they even arranged private snorkelling trips so we could all be together - not one request was overlooked or too much trouble. There is quite literally something for everyone on VOMO, the young children were kept busy in the kids club, the older kids had fun at 'Ocean Play' and of course the adults managed to get some peace and R&R at 'The Rocks' adults only pool and bar area. Now for the most important part; the FOOD. Yet again there was something for everyone as the menu changed daily, without a doubt VOMO served up the best food I have ever had at a hotel/resort, it was fresh, well flavoured and abundant. Highlights were the Fijian Chicken Curry, any of the daily grilled fish dishes and we cannot forget The Fijian event night (delicious seafood!), The greatest compliment any business can receive is return custom, we were so impressed with every aspect of our time at VOMO that we have rebooked - yes all 29 of us - to return in 2024 and we've already set the countdown clock; 728 sleeps! Great service! Great lunch and good dinner! They propose you the snorkelling with the sharks which is amazing! It is must do thing in Fiji and in life! They have also a good diving center and you can dive also with the sharks which is awesome The shared bathroom facility is really clean and new! Just a negative thing is the safari room, the tent room is great idea but it needs some adjustment and if it is windy you feel like you are sleeping after the stars! But If they improve the tents it is perfect! I liked also the cocktails and the guy at the bar was really funny!

A wonderful stay here for a mother and adult daughter. Very relaxing, and the staff was so friendly and seemed genuinely happy. So refreshing these days! And, they remembered us day to day, something you don't see very often. Meals were outstanding, and the system they use to get visitors checked in and checked out when time to go is seamless. A magical place; we didn't want to leave!

The website photos makes this look like a luxe stay but the bures have a tired, worn-out feel and need a lot of maintenance. I suspect the pictures were taken fifteen years ago when the resort opened and not much upkeep has been done since. The floors are faded and scratched - a simple refinishing would go a long way. The structure has apparently settled as there are gaps in the joints and the bathroom ceiling sags. Speaking of the bathroom, the shower head has corroded out in a few places and delivers a seriously inconsistent spray. Design-wise, the water closet is too small: everything is based on one-meter squares and it's smaller than an airplane toilet. (I hit my head on the door every time I sat down on the toilet). The water heater for our bure is much too small (probably 100 litres) and running out of hot water was the norm. Also no showers back-to-back, the heater needs recovery time. While the photos show all of these wide-open doors to let the outside in, when we suggested it the staff said it was a bad idea because of all the mosquitos. They also helpfully suggested that we don't take a walk to the beach down the road as a number of guests have been robbed while walking down the road. I'm not sure how the website can claim that the bures are 860 square feet; the interior space is 4x8 meters (344 sq feet) and including the outside verandah, the size is 52 sq meters (560 sq feet). Maybe the footprint of the canvas roof is 860 square feet but claiming that as the size of the bure is quite a stretch. On the positive side: The grounds are beautiful, the staff was very helpful and the food was quite good. If the owners had just taken six months of the COVID shutdown to perform some routine maintenance, and if the grounds were in a safer location, this would have been an easy recommendation. As it is, we wouldn't return and I wouldn't recommend it to friends...

Usaia is the best employee here. His unbelievable service made my honeymoon perfect and fantastic. He recommended and taught me lots of information here in Sheraton and Fiji. Actually, we were only one Asian couple, so everything was too new for us, but bying talking with Usaia, he made us feel relaxed and better. When I went to the Maldives, I felt that the natural environment was too ordinary. The rooms are small and the details show the general management of the hotel. The front desk bill will be wrong. Please allow enough time for inspection. Staff service attitude is good, can be five stars. Go snorkeling five stars on a beach island in the middle of the sea! !!

Heaven is, Musket cove. We stayed in musket cove last year and fell in love with the resort. So much so, we decided to make it our annual june holiday. Once again we were so welcomed by the most amazing, friendly and calming staff. Our Bure was a beautiful retreat, that felt quiet, peaceful and authentic. The island is our absolute favourite… the sand paths, immaculate gardens and activity/ entertainment options provided us with a dream holiday. My husband surfed almost daily, while I would go for hikes, run the island trials and explore. Found secluded beaches and lookouts that are more breathtaking than imaginable…. Ziggy and Josie always provided us with refreshment afternoon drinks (without prompting our preference) at the island bar yacht club. Ruth always hooked us up with the best tours, snorkelling trips and activities. Suli, was the biggest vibe. We loved his presence and enthusiasm. We loved our trip (again) so much, we re-booked for august and December/ January. Paradise does exist…

Transportation: From vuda Marina, the hotel provides free pick-up and drop-off. Going to other places needs to communicate with the island owner. The boss is super enthusiastic. Going to cloud9 also found his friends to send us. Although the boat to cloud9 is not good, it is very exciting (500fjd a boat) Hygiene: Health is still very clean, Sapporo is around the island after snorkeling, you will bring a lot of sand to the bed. Environment: The environment is great, the beach on the front of the hotel is very garbage, but the beach on the other side of the island is very good. Focus! Focus! Focus! Snorkeling around the island can see turtles, and luckily you can see ”friendly” sharks! Service: Service top! After the explosion of Shangri-La brand hotel (brand hotel is a lot of people, the service staff is not very enthusiastic, even ordering is not positive, water is not given). The service staff on the island will even remember your name to say hello. When there are many people, there are kava welcome parties and bonfire parties. It makes people feel that all aspects are served very thoughtfully. After returning to the main island, the hotel will arrange for you to rent. We emphasized that we have to play the watch (the driver who does not play the watch is slaughtered indiscriminately), the taxi from vuda Marina to Shangri-La hotel is less than 80 dollars, but from Shangri-La to the airport is slaughtered indiscriminately by brand hotel 120 dollars. The breakfast is basically the same every day, the sound of the air conditioner is relatively large, the room is very good, the house is very loose, the backyard is the swimming pool, the children are very happy.
