Overall the stay was great and most of the staff were friendly and hospitable apart from an encounter with one lady who works there who really let them down. The heater in our room wasn’t working and since it was -4 degrees we went to ask if there was a spare one we could please use. The office had closed about 20-30 mins prior but we were freezing so we went to ask if they might have a spare one to heat our room with. We didn’t think that this would be a big ask, however it definitely turned out to be. One of the staff greeted one of our group by abusively pulling the fingers at them through her window, she hadn’t even asked what was wrong but once one of us said we were cold she started clapping. This is absolutely disgusting and unacceptable behaviour, if you can’t be nice and don’t like people why are you working in hospo? Really appalling behaviour and such a let down as the rest of the staff were really great and helpful & the spot is in an epic location. Recommend if you need help with anything, don’t ask this lady!

There was some misunderstanding between Trip.com and the hotel the price we paid was not right according to the very aggressive lady at reception. She was refusing to honour the already paid booking and yelled not only at me but also at the Trips.com rep who was just trying to help. We didn't mind paying the extra amount however the lady was yelling and being aggressive finally we got it sorted. But to be honest the difference was only $60 is it worth being so aggressive over? The motel was nice but the welcoming reception was horrific, Good luck I hope you don't unknowingly upset that lady!
Distinction Mackenzie Country Hotel

Twizel is very much a summer destination so the hotel offers accommodation only We were warmly welcomed and immediately told that neither the restaurant nor the bar would be open. As Twizel was just our overnight stop on our way from Christchurch to Queenstown this was not a major issue. It became no issue at all when it was pointed out that Poppies cafe and restaurant was just across the street from the hotel We were given a local map and we were recommended a restaurant for our evening meal a short drive away. The room was large and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel is away from the town centre so it was very quiet. We got a good night's sleep. Poppies lived up to its billing and the brunch set us up for the day's drive. While I have deducted one star for the lack of onsite catering it was not an issue for us. I would certainly be happy to return to the hotel in the summer and stay for a few days to explore the town and its surroundings.

A very cost-effective motel in the small town of Twizel. The Four Square supermarket is just opposite and within walking distance. There are also gas stations and places to eat. It is a very good accommodation choice when visiting Mount Cook. Although the room is very old and the lighting is dim, for less than 580 yuan, you may only be able to stay in a campsite without an independent bathroom in the same area. It was very good for one night's transition. I don't know why the rating is not high, so you can stay here with confidence.

This place is really nice. Stayed here twice now and have had a good experience both times. Staff who work there are lovely. Rooms are comfortable and have good kitchens, bathrooms and plenty of space. Great location. Only complaint is uselessly thin curtains in room 9 which block out no light and there is no curtain over the glass panel on the door. Other than that, it’s ideal.

Lovely reasonably priced wheelchair accessible accomodation. We’ll set up with self catering and suitable bathroom facilities. Two issues are the front door does not have a ramp for a wheelchair which meant manhandling the wheelchair in the door which is too narrow and needs to be widened. Difficult for my husband to help without skinning his knuckles. It’s then a very tight turn into the bathroom from the door, so a couple of design issues. Place immaculately clean and room itself spacious. No designated disabled parking spot which always makes it a bit tight if other cars park close. Good central location
